@techno769 But that's what makes it more powerful is how it shifts.It fits the tone of the film,and what follows.You notice throughout,as soon as you think the film becomes dramatic and serious,it goes back to being a cold black comedy.This scene goes right from a surreal tragic scene,to a surreal comic scene,the door gunner,the mass grave,the surfin bird scene,and of course the end with the mickey mouse march.

@techno769 Hartman was a Corrupt Drill Sergeant so there would have been no way to explain it more i think. now if they had a special edition of this movie then it would explain the basics of the incident

@ojsilva1975 Hartman said it himself, he was hard but fair, and they were all equally worthless. That's called tough love, not corruption. They could have at least added a funeral scene for Hartman and showed the psycho getting locked up, placed in a padded room with a straightjacket, that would have made me feel better about it.
