    The BAWDY 70's

  • Dick Emery brilliant !!! Hello Honky Tonks!!!

  • Killed off by political correctness. He was hilarious!

  • Aw,Pat Coombes,gawd bless her!

Now,think of how many comics today feel they have to scatter obscenity and swearing throughout their routines in order to acheive the laughs! I'm definitely not a prude, but comedy back then was just as funny,if not funnier in some respects, without all the crap which passes for comedy now.FRANKIE BOYLE,take note!

  • Excellent lol.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. This brings back childhood memories this guy along with Frankie Howerd, Benny Hill and Dave Allen - now they were all funny and now sadly no longer with us. An awful lot of the humour nowadays is some "comedian" using profanity to get a laugh rather than relying upon intelligent writing and comic timing. I really miss this kind of humour.

  • ps an RAF PILOT TO THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE PATRIOTIC its the truth he was in the war my god he mentioned there they are too much idiots on the road on bank holidays ha my god i was a bus driver for 35 years that was the reason i gave it up my god if he were around today you are all idiots on the road none of you have any road sense AND YOURE ALL SO AGRESSIVE ant way he was so brill never be him again god rest him x

  • i don't remember this i was'nt born when this was shown on tv. Dick emery was a comedy genius better than the crap we have now i just love him.

  • Dick Emery was the President of the Airfix Model makers club...he used to write to us kids....a great man..." are you married"....lol lol

  • we used to watch all his shows.

  • classic

  • Loved Dick Emery, very funny, true these shows aren't made any more, much the pity!

  • Ahh they don't do humour like this now. They kind of lost the balance between camp and offensive. The old ones are the best, deffo!

  • Never tire of watching Dick emery. These characters are priceless and I always end up in tears of laughter. Not seen this one before.

  • 2.09 great

  • @glasgowtalisman

How na n teem tay puttha pot doon ya useless fuckin gibberin glesgy streak a shite

  • Classic

  • I think the British obsession with drag - which I think goes back to the Reformation in the 1660s - is much misunderstood outside the UK, especially in the US. The first thing people think is that an entertainer in drag must be "gay", whereas nothing was further from the truth. 1970s British comedy is full of men in drag - nearly all of them 100% heterosexual.

  • Pat Coombes is dead???? oh no. i hate bad news.

  • Ooo you are awful.... but I like ya! *push*

  • Ahh, Pat Coombes-she was fantastic

  • Love this show. Takes me back. He was brilliant!

  • Is the vicar meant to be Anglo-Indian (as in half Raj-era Brit, half Indian parentage and raised in pre-50s India)? Only he seems to have that sort of stereotyped "chi-chi" accent ascribed to the children of those Raj-days "illicit liaisons"

  • EgAd, how did he wear those platform shoes? I'm a GIRL and can barely wear heels that high. And that mic is awesome! I want one like that :D

  • Oh you are awful, but I like ya!!!!!

  • Good old 70s. Greetings from Germany.

  • @drkimy They were great times. I lived in Bad Kreuznach from 1975 to 1976.

  • Thanks for posting this. It's very good. Mandy character is so gorgeous. Every inch a lady!!

  • I consider myself lucky that I grew up with the Global network in Canada - they broadcast a lot of classic British comedy, so Dick was a big part of my childhood (along with Benny Hill, Are You Being Served, On The Buses and other great programs). These clips really bring back some great memories. Thanks!

  • Total politically incorrect but brilliantly funny!

    Liberals ruined comedy.

  • Absolute Classic!!

  • 2:37 lol - hahaha

  • BRILLIANT!! A true family entertainer, I loved watching this as a child and our parents took us to a live show in August 76 or 77 at Great Yarmouth. My Dad was late back from the Bar at the interval, Dick stopped the show and had the spotlight put on my Dad all the way back to his seat, followed by a few comedic comments. A priceless memory as my Dad died in Dec 1977.

  • HAHAHA wow that was the last thing i expected it to end like hahaha!

  • Long live Dick Emery, a true comedian.

one my my favourites when I was growing up

  • Dear old Pat Coombes. A treasure

  • Pat Coombes was a sweetheart wasn't she! RIP

  • Thanks for the posting. What a trip down memory lane. I used to watch this as a kid and loved it-especially "Mandy" and the father and son skinheads. Not PC but very funny!

  • Fantastic comedy - Im so glad i was born 1953 and have enjoyed all the classical comedy they were and still will be the best.

  • Priceless!!!!!!

  • I used to love this show as a kid and to be honest it seems even more brilliant now!

The Dick Emery show was a comedy classic!

(I know I'm stating the obvious but true is true!!)

  • fantastic

  • The guy's immaculate - genius.

  • spelling is atrocious

  • i hate to ask this cos he probley is but is dick emery gay and what did he die of and how long is he dead dares a skectch with him and cher on a tv show from 1970s so funny

  • Certainly not gay! He made a pass at my mum, randy old git that he was.

  • Wasn't pat coombes also just fantastic

  • "My mum has been a good mum to me - even if she has got a moustache!"

  • Haha he dragged up so well, got all the mannerisms of a elderly woman. He reminds me of my aunt!! RIP Dickie

  • Wish there was more of Dick Emery on DVD,love his scenes in drag with Pat Combs.

  • Don't worry Luv, I'll get ya there!

  • Fantastic. Thanks.

  • Ooh you are awful, but i like you, Lol!!
