The Blind Dan Smullyan project (this video and the associated CD) is an art piece - a work of fiction and personal fantasy drawn from my lifelong fascination with early blues and a deep and abiding connection to the time, place, and people who gave birth to it. My hope is that those who chance upon Blind Dan's songs will recognize the love and respect with which they were created and find that they have a power, beauty and merit of their own...
I hate to say it but this has "hoax" written all over it. Just doesn't sound right for something recorded in 1931. If this were true, blues researchers would be all over it but there's nothing on the internet but the story from the guy who's trying to sell the CD.
Where can I get more information about this guy? A movie sounds like a great idea, I'd love to see it. Sounds like this shadow on the wind sings from beyond the sorrows of another time -- a shape-shifting time traveler. Five stars!
So, is the hoax that Blind Dan Smullyan could actually see? If that's the fact, then I'm horribly offended by the historical inaccuracy! Booh!
