the first automobile in the History was not this...
The first automobile thus the first object not move by the strenght of an animal (horse, cow or others) was the French "Machine à vapeur" "LE FARDIER" made by Cugnot a French Engeneer in... 1769 !!
The French Cugnot "Machine à vapeur" LE FARDIER was the real 1st "Automobile" in the History !
The real 1st ancester of all the cars and trains nowadays !
This is not the first car as it is a reproduction of one of the first cars. However Siegfried Marcus had a car running in 1879. In addition, a guy named de Rivaz took out a patent for an internal combustion powered vehicle in 1807. But before that Cugnot had a self propelled steam wagon running in 1770. Beat that!
This threewheeler from Charles Benz was not the first motorcar. That was the steam wagon of Cugnot with which he made first roll-out in 1769 in Paris.
@andromedarr Does it really? Cars of today have 4 wheels, an 4-8cyl engine without a swinging wheel, electric flash lights etc. And what is with electric cars? Are n't they motor cars, since they have an electric engine? Pffft! This 3wheeler of Benz is only a step inside the development of modern cars which startet already when Leonardo Da Vinci constructed his automatic clock work driven toy vehicle in the 16th century.
@pedowife4kids It does. A gas driven, 4 stroke pistonengine is the engine, it has gas and brake-pedals, uses brakes, is light and small, so it can be driven by one person, has a steering wheel, etc etc.
Arguably this is the first application of the internal combustion engine in an automobile, not the first car. That would be the 1769 & 1771 Fardiers a Vapeur as built in pre-revolutionary France by army engineer Nicolas Joseph Cugnot.
OK so it is the first practical, commercially available……. The Fardiers a Vapeur as prototypes were failures and never achieved their design specifications.
@zpunk81 While the first Motorwagen could manage whopping 8mph and the first Fardier could only manage 2mph, the Fardier could do 2mph while hauling 18th century artillery.
You could hardly describe the 1885 Motorwagen as commercially available since only 1 of each model was built for the first 3 different cars. However 2 Fardiers were built.
The fardier was discontinued because Marquis de Monteynard's failure to return General Gribeauval's letter requesting further development, due to war.
@starbooster123 There is nothing wrong with being proud of who you are and where you are from. The problem starts when a group of people or even a nation are duped into believing that they are exclusive and somehow superior to every other nation on earth. It would be wise to take a lesson from history but, oh how we just love to repeat it and refuse to learn from it.
That is very nifty. Really makes me take advantage of my electric start, fuel injected, automatic transmission, and power steering compared to this beast. Also, for those who do not like Mercedes Benz, this is still an engineering marvel. Without this "motorwagen", almost every car today would not have had the inspiration to build the other cars, and cause competition, and have auto manufacturers striving to make newer, and better technology.
Sweet i'll add a turbo kit to raise the horsepower from 1, to 5 hp. Now i'm a real big dog! lol. Brilliant invention. Lucky for you guys to have this!
@fundreamer1 Actually, I enjoyed reading his "feeble" opinions. He seems to know what he's talking about. And if your going to say you don't like Mercedes because there are cars with better mpg, then you must not be a fan of Ferrari, bugatti,Porsche,BMW,lotus,Lamborghini,Audi, bentley, rolls or any other super car either, because the Nissan leaf has the best mileage right now. And as for handling, the ford fiesta beat a corvette zr1 in a competition. I drive mercedes, because I want a real McCoy
@intrga That's what I say about cambelts. At least on this you only lose drive, you could carry a spare and just pop it on. You certainly can't do that with a cambelt
thats an amazing replica...and it sonds beautiful...just thinke...we have 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 cylinder engines these days...all still based on this very concept of the I.C.E.
This is very nice! But it was not the first car ever made. Ferdinand Verbiest invented the first car in the year 1672, while in china. It was a toy however.
In 1769, the first self-propelled car was designed and built by Nicholas Cugnot.
While Benz did have the first car ever put into production, he was not close to being the first to build one.
To be specific, Karl Benz invented the first gasoline- or petrol-powered car--the predecessor of all gas cars used today. Cugnot made steam-engine-powered vehicle...
Benz cars are still around...are there any Cugnot cars?
Anyway, there's no ONE specifc person who invented the car. It involved a lot of inventors...
@gce9884 LOL! You wish to get technical and picky? Horse drawn carts and wagons were the predecessors of all vehicles in use today, someone got the idea of removing the horse and put a motor on the wagon. Besides, as far as finding a steam powered car today, I believe the Stanley Steamer was made until 1926. Besides the Benz is out of reach of the average man, it is not a car I'm impressed with. There are others that get better mileage, or better handling.
I'm not being technical, just tyring to be specific...Karl Benz, Cugnot and Verbiest are 3 of the automobile's inventors. As well as Gottlieb Daimler, Wilhelm Maybach, Ford, Karl Diesel, etc.
It's an evolution involving a lot of changes, and a lot of inventors....
blah blah blah.......why am I even wasting my time explaining to someone who seems to "know it all". But for someone who knows it all, I bet you haven't driven any of the latest Benzes...
@gce9884 Then quit wasting your time, your obviously pro-benz lol. All of the inventors you mentioned did not work on the same car, on their own, they invented a running car. The evolution took many people and time, but the first cars were great achievements.
blah blah blah..... no one wants to hear your feeble opinion anyway.
@505197 Don't mind about sensless people dude...let them live in the blurred ignorant reality...the poor guy obviously doesn't even know how a scooter works xD
@respect23jordans I allways wanted to do that too, because it is a mercedes, imagine driving up to mr benz in a black amg with blacked out windows, then doing a burnout in the town square lol imagine the look on peoples faces, I think you be classed as the devil!
