  • Nice chops, u can play real well.

I got the same guitar and the JSX 212 combo and it sounds exactly like this as well. We are lucky :)

  • Is a Chelsea grin sound possible through this head ..

  • @AskiNgAdriaN17 you can but this kind of amp might be overkill for that sound. A classic valve combo with a overdrive pedal would get that sound, as long as its all valve.

  • Do you think that I'll get this sound (good bass response) with a v30 speakers instead sheffields one? Thanks for answer!

  • @galego111 yeah id say so, just tweek eq to suit

  • @galego111 honestly the matching cab gets really great bass response, its 400 watts. i have used several cabs with my JSX - 60a & b, Mesa, Behringer's, the matching cab, a Voodoo cab and even a few I can't remember. We went through about 20 I can't remember in a recording session that the studio actually had on hand! Honestly, the matching cab and the Behringer sounded almost the same when mic'd up and the best. To this day, I take the Behringer's on the road to preserve my Peavey cabs life.

  • What speakers are you using? PLease, answer .--.

  • @galego111 peavey 5150 4x12 cab with sheffied speakers.

  • Hey how is the gain on this I was thinking of getting the 6505+ for the gain an distortion but I need some thing with decent clean's as well. Is the gain an distortion on this as good as the 6505+ I use distortion more so maybe I should just stick with the 6505+ I don't know.

  • @DiamondAudio4Life It's good chuggey squeal type gain, not as brutal as 6505 but more nice tone and control. If you want dangerous (some times bad sometimes good) tone go with the 6505, if you want great buttery tone with enough gain to do metal and perfect bell cleans go with JSX (or Peavey Triple X2 as they are now called!)

  • Dude Russell Crowe is lookin' over your shoulder so don't screw up!

  • Haha, it isn't a gain issue, don't worry, I'm going to take it to where I bought it and see if they can pick it by hearing it. It's not really something I can describe apart from it lacking power, maybe bit and sustain on the high notes.

Thank you for your fast replies tho! And keep posting awesome vids! You have some real talent :)

  • This amp dont have own reverb ???????

  • @poljakov13 Most valve amp heads traditionally don't have reverb.

  • @davet247

i had ampeg vl502 , it had reverb . Also most of my friend tubeamps have reverb .

Meanwhile i have plan to buy this peavey soon, it sound so good for solos.

  • awesome technic

  • idc what anyone says i like marshall

  • @guitarpro48 Marshalls are very nice too! although, just like any amp make the models vary in quality quite a bit. The JSX is the best amp Peavey has ever made IMO. I liked the 5150/6505 but they are really a one trick pony, JSX sounds like the best amps combined. I currently have a Marshall Haze head and a EVH 5150 iii and love em both.

  • @davet247 true true but what people dont know is where the the design for the 5150/6505 came from well here we go van halen use to use the marshall plexi back in the day and sense metal wasnt that big back then he use to crank that thing so he would get the destortion he wanted then he went to peavey and made the 5150 but it was the SAME design as the marshall plaexi but the difference was that the peavey had destortion but they are the same

  • @guitarpro48 actually the peavey was based on his soldano amp he used after his Marshall gave up the ghost. The new 5150 iii mixes the tones of the old Marshall with the soldarno sol 100.

  • @guitarpro48 I've actually been told by his guitar tech that Eddie still uses a hot rodded marshall even though he endorses peavey

  • @messersd1 he dosnt use peavey any more, its his own brand built by fender. The Evh 5150 mk iii and that's what he uses now.

  • @davet247 Did you ever find the JSX to.. talk instead of scream? Like when soloing it lacks punch behind the high notes.. just sounds flat. It has the awesome sound, but seemingly no power or something? If you did, or if you understand what I'm talking about, did you fix this with an EQ pedal or an OD/DIST pedal? I love my JSX but it lacks something in the highs :(

  • @creation23 its the 'buttery' tone your talking about, its quite hard to get a harsh tone like the 5150 gets. Its all in the eq, take the bass right down and bring the mids up also use an extra eq pedal but you will never get that over the top screech of the 5150 with the jsx as its voiced for high gain blues of Joe satch. I really like it because its real easy to dial in a wonderfull tone but now i have a 5153 its nice to struggle with harsh tones as an option if that makes sense?

  • @davet247 Kind of, I understand what you're saying but that wasn't really the question XD.

The JSX has the tone I'm looking for, it just lacks the power behind the high notes, It has the sound it just doesn't hit you with it..? You know? Sorry if I don't make sense.

  • @creation23 hmm, sounds to like some.of.your tubes have gone if its not got enough gain. Mine had bags of it, especially at loud volumes. Check out my live cover of motorcycle driver, loads of punchy power in that amp.

  • what song is that from at 2:00

  • any fx pedals?

  • @whitepowa None in this video other then a rack mounted reverb

  • sweet playingg dude

  • Great tight playing man, awesome!

  • Is there more gain on tap than shown here? just wondering.

  • @MtSpo23 yes, I'm on about 8 on the ultra channel.

  • his face is funny in the beginning

  • do the sheffield speakers give you much "fizz" at all? i have a 2x12 avatar cab loaded with jsx speakers and i can't seem to get rid of this fizzy sound, it's really annoying!

  • @rlavergne09 Sheffield's are great, no fizz just nice tight sound. I hear greenbacks are really good but I haven't tried them yet.

  • @davet247 Which Sheffields do you have? On their product page I see 6505 and XXX Sheffields. Are there any differences between them? Also, are you using any pedals or effects other than the Midiverb? Thanks man!

  • @rlavergne09 I was using a 5150 angled cab so I guess they will be the same as the 6505 I would expect. No pedals, just the midi verb for reverb/delay.

  • hey dude, awesome play, i yes i own a JSX 2x12 Combo it has Spring Reverb Tank in the Open Back, dude, i am considering buying the match jsx 4x12 cab to play along with the built in Cab, anyway what can you tell me about the JSX Cab, should i consider just a cheap 2x12 cab having already the Combo cab or the extra Cab would bring my tone to heaven metal? how does it compare the JSX Combo Vs JSX Head+4x12 JSX Cab

  • Damn brother U shred like a mother fucker.. I'm trading my 6505+ for the JSX 2morrow.. so i'm checking out some vids on it.. 6505 is cool for your mean ass metal but I think the JSX has a sweet clean and a way tighter lead channel "ultra".. I dig how it's has 3 independent EQ vs only 2 EQ for 3 channels on the 6505

  • @fixxxer602 was it worth it? I have a 6505+ considering the same

  • @GuitarGodsUnite was it worth trading the 6505+ for the JSX? To me it was.. I used the JSX for a lot of gigging and everyone loved my tone.. unfortunatly I had to get rid of it since I wasn't playing in a steady band anymore! But yes the JSX is one of my favorite amps out there

  • very good,,, wonderfull sound,,,burning valves

  • 2:44 to 2:51 is amazing with that smoth burst of speed legato thats amazing man!!! could you do a lesson on it im in the stages of improving my legato and myn sounds smoth a pritty fast but not like that could you do some lesson licks pleses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It somehow reminds me of the Engl Screamer only it has 6L6

  • And yes, you play like a muthafuckah.

  • Did you use the line out, or the camera mic, or did you mic the cab, or what? :)

  • Just the mic on the cam, it distorts all the clean tones at the begining due to the volume. The head is going through a peavey 5150 cab.

  • finally someone shows the sound of an amp that can actually play really really well and that doesnt play ac/dc or zz top or some shit like that. thank u

  • what tubes are in the jsx?

  • EL34's (stock)

  • cool clip.lol

  • what we do on our JSX, echoes in eternity

  • is that a work out machine or pre-amp??

  • The rack in the background? It holds my Midi Verb (digital reverb)

  • Wow, The Gladiator is astonished by your playing talent!!!

  • I AM SPARTA!

  • Its got that perfect 80s shred gain

  • cool deal

  • very nice m8 :))

  • JAY ES EXXXXX

  • LLLEEEEROY JS EXXX SON!

  • EL34 OR 6L6 you using on this video??

and what kind speakers did you used?

  • They are the stock ones, I think EL34....

    It's going through a 4x4 5150 angled cab, sheffield speakers. 16oms running at 8oms.

  • Sorry, meant '4x12' not '4x4'! lol.

  • Thanks for the vid man. I'm doin a bit of research into a couple amps for my next upgrade. So far I've looked into this, the Carvin V3, and a Mesa Triple Rectifier. I guess I'll just have to try 'em out for myself though, cause they all sound great.

  • Yeah they are all good. I like this one for it's sweet (and I mean that in the real sense of the word) sound, it also has lots of gain per channel which is handy if you play like that. I'd say this or the Carvin for the price but you do have to give em a whirl at the store first. Keep an eye out for a gig I'll be posting on here using this amp in full action.

  • Will the ultra channel do metal without a pedal?

  • I'm not running a pedal through it in the vid, the click you hear is the amps foot switch turning the reverb on and off. You can put loads of gain on both ultra and crunch channels.

  • Sweet, I have found my new amp then.

I was looking at a 6505+, then releasied I wanted more than just metal, Opeth-esque is my style. So looked at Bogners and the like but wa to expensive.

    This looks good.

  • I didn't think the head had the reverb function? I thought that was only the combo. Sick tone and chops man!!

  • @rlavergne09 It doesn't, the Midiverb is for the reverb. I'm switching the effects loop on and off with the pedal, handy thing.

  • Love your tone! What setting were you using on the Ultra Channel? thanks

  • Gain 8, Bass 10, Mid 3, Treble 7, Fat on

  • sounds good, still no idea what it does :P but good it sounds, yessss

  • do you not stick a overdrive pedal infront of te amp so you can pull back on the maps gain?

  • No, I don't find the need. I can play it pretty loud in my parents attic, I couldn't get away with it in my small house!

  • yes, i use my Jsx with 4x12 Gt 75', and i play in big place, Gain 7, Treble 4, Mid 6, Bass 5, Volume 5, And master volume on 5, but prescence 0, because the sound i think is too treble with prescense On..

  • what settings did you used on this video for clean and crunch channel???

    thank you

    Great playing

  • Clean: treble 5, Mid 4, Bass 5, Vol 7

Crunch: Treble 7, Mid 4, Bass 9, Vol 6, Gain 8, FAT on

    Noise Gate 9, Presence 7, Resonance 7

Hope that helps, I find I have to tweak depending on the room also.

  • sounds rockin, my jsx eq is pretty much the same as yours although i use a thd hotplate and i dont use prescence or resonance

  • Great video and playing!

I just found my future amp. ;)

It has all of the bottom end for rhythm that I want, all of the 'liquidness' I want in a lead, and a great channel. This would probably satisfy me more than the 6505+ or a Mesa Boogie (Since they are expensive as nuts).

  • Dude, your out of this world! Great playing

  • Thanks :-)

  • Nice! Is it a recent purchase? Still very shiny. Liked the Plug-in Baby bit.

  • Very good Dave.

  • Thanks Sixshot

  • being dave never sounded so good

  • I'm using that!

  • Thats Is awesome mate, you get an amazing sound out of the JSX. I love watching people play the guitar good stuff

  • I have a Peavey bass. I haven't played it in over two years. :( I have no one to play with.

  • If only you'd kept in practice, you could've joined the internets band

  • True, we should hold auditions through YT! Get people who have no one to play with to make videos for us... might be cool and give people who are interested a chance? GogDog would be a good Bassist though, we could call him 'the Dawg!'

  • What does JSX stand fors?

Ultra Channel! haha. Does it go 1 louder?

Quite liked the lick at 2:27. Ah why do you have to be so much better than me :p

Master of Puppets riff yay, can't go wrong

Well it's a cool sounding amp! I have a simple little 50 watt tube amp that sounds ok but I almost never use it, criminal I suppose.

I'd add "improv" to the tags, guitar improv vids seem popular, I think.

Also - guitar hero irl haha

  • JS stands for Joe Satriani and the X stands for the Peavey triple X that they based it on.

50 watt amps are normally pretty good, I must admit though, I prefer my Peavey bandit combo at low levels (i.e withing the 100w range) to the JSX and admittedly I just use my computer for all my recent recordings.

  • Ah, it all makes sense now
