No the car is not electronically limited to 155 mph. I have a US Spec 09 BMW M3 e92 Coupe and my gov kicked in at 175 mph from the factory.

but the point is that for example m5 can go about 327km/h, and still the engine is just on 7k RPM, so I mean the engine still has got some potential power for faster speed. I suppose, it could hit even 350km/h. but hell knows why the put those limiters on M BMW for only 250km.h

The E92 M3 is the new age of M cars, and they are little bit more civilised than the older ones... but also far more capable. An E92 M3 will make mince meat of both the E46 M3 and the Z4m... stop deluding yourself.

Plus the note in the new e92 m3 is just awesome, the old 3.2 litre sounded like a metal being grated, and had a very unappealing exhaust note.

173.98 MPH impressive. ive ordered an m3 e92 convertible should get it next year jan/feb. probably tune it so it can hit 200mph thats 321kph. my m3 convertible is spec'd to £62,000thats $123,045.20 which is the same as a standard m5.
