  • To every one who is wondering about the water in the exhaust ....its a marine engine water cooled water and exhaust mix after it goes thru the heat exchanger .....marine gas motors do the same thing .....

  • I want this on my 8ft john boat :p

  • Im not 100% but i thing this a 6BTA5.9 Marine

  • Its a diesel you! Just you!....

    It needs heat!.

Stick to petrol its all you know

  • Nice Video, Good to see that your dad is nice and gentle on a brand new engine. too many people rev the hell out of a brand new engine on its first start. Well Done.

  • Cummins, always love the sound of a cummins.

  • Very nice sound on that Cummins :-)

  • i know its usual for water to come out the exhaust of a marine engine, but since this one is drydocked, wheres the water coming from?

  • @EATSLEEPDRIVE2002 A hose.

  • @HeresJamesPrice i see thanks

  • Fuck

  • Was that built out of a 5.9 L found in dodge trucks. Your dad most likely used preium rebuild kit parts for a marine application. That looks like a mechanical fuel system right?

  • @pvcarmon1 Correct.

  • is that a 5.9L? its sweet lookin with that paint job, but cummins red would have been better ha

  • @12VDISLMT White for marine application.

  • we use a 3208 cat in out boat, its wood and glass overlay, yall take it easy! WATERMAN LOVE FROM MARYLAND!!

  • @m35a2lover who told you that? the only thing that would make it run cleaner is the turbo.

  • diesels run cleaner than gasoline engines you could run a diesel indoors and not die run a gasoline engine in doors and you will die

  • @m35a2lover Thats bullshit. Since all gasoline engines are equipped with a catalyzer they only emit carbon dioxide, water (in form of steam) and nitrogen. These gases are all nontoxic.

The only way you would die when you run a gasoline engine indoors is when it consumed all of the oxygen in the room... But a diesel engine does that as well.

  • You mean CO...not CO2....and last I checked its toxic...attaches to the oxygen that you have in your blood and you starve of oxygen and die

  • @ProAce50 BTW a diesel is a hell of lot better on your health

  • that is amazing

  • I was mad when the video ended! I wanted to see more xD

  • I agree i was just sayin that,s all..put that Engine in my PT Cruiser LOL

  • lil b series cummins hummin like a charm man. beautiful work of art...simple simple simpleeee design. very easy to rebuild/repair/troubleshoot

  • Are they sold white? Or is this a custom deal?

  • @D13fledermause To my knowledge they are not sold white.

  • Beautiful engine but she kinda sounds like a Detriot.

  • @Johnny64ism aint nothing wrong with a detroit

  • I can say just 3 words: BIG, loud, powerful. :) Nice work!

  • there is water coming out of your exhaust... you have a serious problem. should have cut that motor off imediately

  • @ilovegoatsecks It's supposed to since it's a marine engine. Water is run through the exhaust to keep them cool.

  • what size is the egine?

  • Comment removed

  • This is a marine engine so yes it uses a heat exchanger and then raw water to cool the system.

  • So is this engine water cooled???

  • is it the same size as the one in the dodge ram truck?

  • starter abuse, lol jk its a first start so i expect it, great sounding motor through

  • even if your a seasoned engine builder you still do a lil happy dance when she fires

  • how much toque and hp does she put out? how many litters is she? really interested in knowing.

  • the sound of good old american diesel power. jizzz in my pants!

  • @thecarguy9195 me too, lol

  • JUNK !

  • Cummins Engine Is Rubbish!

    Gardner Engine Is The Best!

  • the only thing dodge trucks got going for them in my personal opinion I still prefer a 7.3 powerstroke, but cummins aint too bad for what they are.

  • cummins is junk, drove international truck with that.cat is much better or scania or MB.

  • Hey man whats the HP an TQ of this thing? also what size is the engin i Liters

  • Those are 6BTs- how much horsepower?

  • Woooweeee! Sounds like a Cummins! What?!!! I can't hear ya! :-)

  • sounds like the spark plug gap is wrong.

  • @caddy52 Diseal engines dont have spark plugs .They Have Glow Plugs

  • @jac70j

No glow plugs in a 6BT. It has a grid heater.

  • @jac70j 5.9 cummins have intake heater grid but yeah any jackass who says a diesel has a spark prob dont know what combustion is.

  • @randytune88 lmao that is true

  • he was priming the fuel , did you see him turning the injectors has to be done on every first start if its a diesel

  • The only problem is that terrible air filter. It has a tiny surface area and huge holes in it, so it allows big bits of dust and dirt in to the engine. Over time it destroys the turbo with pitting on the turbine blades and scores everything including the insides of the cylinders. You would be best using a couple of huge paper filters in housings from a large truck, they have a vast surface area, do not restrict flow (for boy racers benefit) and will give the engine FILTERED air.

  • @urbex2007

It doesn't have huge holes in it- it's a cotton gauze filter. It's designed for this type of application and as long as the media isn't damaged it can be cleaned and reused indefinitely.

  • A must have for anything thats got a shitty v6 like mine.gonna do a swap soon

  • 8 people are fucking prius driving, tree hugging faggots....Sweet looking engine,,,Sounds great

  • @scott93257 Thank you for the compliments. I appreciate all technology.

  • @scott93257 Yes to respect the very planet that allowed us to be alive in the first place makes us all Faggots. Engine does sound great, love to bolt that thing into my car and call it a day

  • @sacr3

    LOL absolutely :)

  • @sacr3

OK ok not all Prius drivers are that way...or tree huggers... I respect someone's choice of vehicle...Free will :)

  • @scott93257 You are an idiot.

  • @superiormusic

LOL...yah I have been known to be at times....95 % of the time I am ok...but 5% of the time mediocrity rears its ugly head..

  • the birth of this marvellous engine is an emotional moment.

  • dare you to stick your hand in that flywheel housing... chop a bitch up lol

  • Prime the fuel system next time for crying out loud!!!!!

  • it had an orgasm at 2:50

  • Looks like my motor in my dodge is it 5.9 cummins?

  • lol, 4:23

  • Comment removed

  • dude just spray some brake cleaner into the airfilter and it wil start

  • @1bmxdude that doesint work as well on diesels as it does on gas engines

  • @TRuEGaMingPS3 on my work it does work very well. if a diesel car don't wanna start i spray some brake cleaner and it start after some seconds.

  • @TRuEGaMingPS3 on my work it does work very well. if a diesel car don't wanna start i spray some brake cleaner and it start after some seconds. if i repared the injectors and there is no diesel in the fuel lines and engine.

  • Is it a straight 8 or V6? Or what else, if any?:))

  • @ciastekwuzet1 its a straight six.. straight 8s are rare

  • you have to be proud of your dad !! - that some cool boat and engines.

  • Is that a 12 valve or a 24 valve?

  • What type of cummins is it? Just at the near end @ 6:24 sounds like ISL

  • @Superiorpakfan It's a Cummins 6BT, better known as a B series. Where I work, we have several small buses with this engine.

  • real smokey

  • just a question wondering the purpose of the apparatus post turbo and pre intake on the head

  • I'm not sure why there is water being expelled from the exhaust pipe. Is it condensation? Other wise five stars!

  • @HeWhoCarts13 :))))))

  • B-series Cummins DONT have glowplugs people......I dont know of any Cummins with glow plugs...

  • Diesel engines have glowplugs, only used for starting purposes

  • very nice job can i put that in my dodge. if they are twin screws does one turn backwards . ford did that with there fe motors (427 marine).

  • Yeah man look at the beautiful mechancial fuel pump on that engine!!!

  • Purge it with Starting Fluid next time!!!!

  • Why didn't you purge it with ether? I don't believe that's a glowplug motor.

  • I know nothing about marine engines but it's impressing, there's a lot of water :S

  • its a 5.9 5.7 cummins c series i think a great engine ive had the pleasure of buildin a few simple and bullet proof as with any mechanical engines

  • The water in the exhaust is the waste from a heat exchanger. The water is sucked from under the boat and taken to a heat exchanger which is like the radiator on your car but instead of air rushing through it to cool the antifreeze, it uses water. There is a closed cooling system filled with antifreeze on the engine like in a car and it runs through the heat exchanger and transfers the engine heat to the seawater that runs through the other side of the exchanger.

  • @unheavenlyangel: Thank you for the CORRECT and accurate explanation!

  • any body know what the sump bolt torque should be

  • I am a diesel fitter, used to work on the big leyland and gardner engines, after rebuild it was quite normal to sit there with the throttles wide open until you got the fuel up then they would pick up one cylinder at a time etc often a couple of mins tho even with that.

  • I've a question. You say twin.... So... if it's put in the boat, are both engines used at the same time? That sounds like the engine to an old fishing boat I used to go on as a younger child.

  • @RocketRodder Yes, normally both engines are used at the same time.

  • cummins 6bt...best engine ever freakin built

  • Well atleast you know its got a good starter with all that cranking :P

  • That looks like the engine in an old Dodge truck I had years ago.

  • im not very familar with marine engines would someone care to tell me as to why water is coming out of the exhaust?

  • What cummin engine is the best? the 5.7l

  • @Swrtzjstn12 5.7? You mean 5.9?

  • @sqhschief Yes 5.9 i mistyped the 9 for a 7.

  • whats that song at the beging haha i have heard it a million times never can get the name

  • cummins use low plugs man wow

  • @beatmycummins cummins dont use glow plugs dude...

    grid heaters google that shit

  • i really need help here anybody, i have a 1998 chevy, 6.5l turbo diesel. i replaced the fuel filter, but i bought the the wrong one, tried cranked and cranked, so i put the original old dirty one, and its takes awhile to start, but then it finally starts. then we tried the new filter again(same one) and doesnt start, and we put the orginal one back in. and now its doesnt start. i did all the procedures from the manual. is there any tricks to start it up nicer. its a bitch to start it up.....

  • did you fill the filter up completely befvore you put it on if not you probblbly have air in the lines now and have to bleed it out....@washkin

  • @jakefitzpatricka oh we figured it out with my dad, the fuel supply pump went out. where it was located under the fram of the truck. so we bought a new one for 92 bucks at shucks. and installed, when i put it to the crank postion on the key, we hear it pumping and it bleed the on the top of the fuel filter. and the engine started with in 10 seconds. but thank you for you advice

  • Love the distinctive sound of Cummins

  • новенький рус кий дизель на ладу калину пепец

  • @plaebslayer haha twin cummins in a 14" catamaran?

  • Cummins makes the best engines

  • hmm.. look similar to a 5.9 liter cummins. Is it? Nice running engine

  • @crazydiesellover yes, its got a marine cooling package on it.

  • rejack use your glowpug if a Diesel

  • I didn't know cummins made a white engine but I have only dealt with their truck engines-red or black. They did ok but I sure liked the Detroit I had in a WesternStar.

  • this is the engine that the dennis dart pointer has

  • Nothing beats a hummin' Cummins! Love that sound. What are the horsepower and torque ratings of this particular power plant?

  • чо это из выхлопа ибашит? тосол или соляра не сгорает?

  • I love that sound, I've been on a transportship that has a Cummins V12 (size was about 2 times bigger than this engine) but that sound was really great! also electric started:)

  • Starts like a Cummins !

  • Definitly one of the motor cylinders is damaged. That is why the water comes form exahust.

  • @cyberstein12 Ha Ha Its obvious you dont know anything about marine engines, The exhaust is water cooled, it is a Boat engine, read up on the subject before you make stupid comments about something you know nothing about.

  • i love that sound

  • I want whatever boat that is going in!!

  • el motor tiene buen sonido y esta bien bueno este video

  • Did the fuel system need priming?

  • Thatl ooks like a 12 valve B series...

  • Sweet.

  • that motor looks like the C series cummins!

  • A great machine. It had a long and painful gestation at the hands of Case, Cummins, Leyland and others, but it turned out a real good-un. I did a little bit on the Leyland Trucks product planning team for it in 1983. Amazing times. I hope it gives you years of good service.

  • OOPS!

  • about how much hp?

  • brilliant color for an engine, :) so why is it white?

  • brilliant color for an engine, :)

  • That's a beaut rebuild. No surprise if the first start is a bit cranky. I want a bigger diesel now, I miss our Cat D8 with donkey engine starter. Sounds great!

  • serie b 5.9 l 23.220 vw

  • NO... no potty in the house!!!! hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • It's spelled TYPICAL.

  • in or out of ram. love that puuurrrr

  • NIce engine!!

  • Comment removed

  • @GinoJerry86 it's a marine engine = watercooled exhaust

  • @HeresJamesPrice

They were built by your father, are they brand new, or rebuilt ? are they some old truck engine he have found or something.

  • I'm the father in question so maybe I can answer . The engines were marine engines , both had been overheated and were cores. They needed many new parts, like turbos , manifolds, wiring harnesses, most internals etc. ,not to mention the machine work. It was fun but didn't save much money really.

  • @fgpriceinc

Well then, you have done a great job.

  • @HeresJamesPrice its called a wet exhaust - whereas trucks use a dry exhaust..used on boats to replace the rad...supposed to have water- lots of it- coming out the pipes.

sometimes a heat exchanger can be used for a closed system.. in this case water is pumped into water jackets in the manifolds which cools the engine, instead of using a rad -ts just direclty pumped. he prolly has a garden hose rigged to it.

  • @HeresJamesPrice Errr, no they don't!! It a marine engine with water cooled exhausts. It's the cooling water which is coming out the exhaust.

  • @Dakweed

What the fuck are you talking about? The water is what cools the engine, it just cycles it up and out of exhaust because its got a constant fresh feed of water from a pickup pipe underneath the boat. The water exiting the engine joins the exhaust further down away from manifold, it has nothing to do with cooling the exhaust.

  • @HeresJamesPrice no , it's called water cooled exhaust...

  • @HeresJamesPrice its actually a water cooled exhaust

  • @HeresJamesPrice

dont know where you got your information from but you are incorrect sir.

the water in the exhaust is because the engine is cooled using raw water (ocean or sea water) from a pickup in th boat and it goes out the exahust to cool the exhaust and the exaust sometimes goes into the ocean water to disperse.

  • @GinoJerry86

This is a boat engine. Marine engines use water to cool the exhaust gasses. Raw water is taken from the outside and pumped directly to an exhaust elbow and mixed with it to cool and to dampen the noise. That is why you see the water in the exhaust.

  • @GinoJerry86, the reason water is coming out the exhaust is because its a marine engine, they pull water from the lake, river, or ocean and after the water passes through the block to cool it, it exits out the exhaust back into the water. i dont know were this other guy got his info, either he has no idea what he is talking about or he is screwing with you.

  • @GinoJerry86 cause its a boat engine dummy

  • @GinoJerry86 it is a engine for a boat, its cooled with water

  • over cranking= burnt out starter

  • How heavy is this...just wondering?

  • I'm 22 now but diesels still sound just like when i was a kid....nice song for my ears:)

  • Probably because this engine first came out when you were a kid.

  • greath engines

  • We have that unit in a boat in Canada, more power than you ever need, good overkill. Some issues with the hose from the heat exchanger to the exhaust which we have to remove each fall, would like a union there instead.

  • man I love the sound of deisel in
