To every one who is wondering about the water in the exhaust ....its a marine engine water cooled water and exhaust mix after it goes thru the heat exchanger .....marine gas motors do the same thing .....
Nice Video, Good to see that your dad is nice and gentle on a brand new engine. too many people rev the hell out of a brand new engine on its first start. Well Done.
Was that built out of a 5.9 L found in dodge trucks. Your dad most likely used preium rebuild kit parts for a marine application. That looks like a mechanical fuel system right?
@m35a2lover Thats bullshit. Since all gasoline engines are equipped with a catalyzer they only emit carbon dioxide, water (in form of steam) and nitrogen. These gases are all nontoxic.
The only way you would die when you run a gasoline engine indoors is when it consumed all of the oxygen in the room... But a diesel engine does that as well.
The only problem is that terrible air filter. It has a tiny surface area and huge holes in it, so it allows big bits of dust and dirt in to the engine. Over time it destroys the turbo with pitting on the turbine blades and scores everything including the insides of the cylinders. You would be best using a couple of huge paper filters in housings from a large truck, they have a vast surface area, do not restrict flow (for boy racers benefit) and will give the engine FILTERED air.
It doesn't have huge holes in it- it's a cotton gauze filter. It's designed for this type of application and as long as the media isn't damaged it can be cleaned and reused indefinitely.
@scott93257 Yes to respect the very planet that allowed us to be alive in the first place makes us all Faggots. Engine does sound great, love to bolt that thing into my car and call it a day
@TRuEGaMingPS3 on my work it does work very well. if a diesel car don't wanna start i spray some brake cleaner and it start after some seconds. if i repared the injectors and there is no diesel in the fuel lines and engine.
The water in the exhaust is the waste from a heat exchanger. The water is sucked from under the boat and taken to a heat exchanger which is like the radiator on your car but instead of air rushing through it to cool the antifreeze, it uses water. There is a closed cooling system filled with antifreeze on the engine like in a car and it runs through the heat exchanger and transfers the engine heat to the seawater that runs through the other side of the exchanger.

I am a diesel fitter, used to work on the big leyland and gardner engines, after rebuild it was quite normal to sit there with the throttles wide open until you got the fuel up then they would pick up one cylinder at a time etc often a couple of mins tho even with that.
I've a question. You say twin.... So... if it's put in the boat, are both engines used at the same time? That sounds like the engine to an old fishing boat I used to go on as a younger child.
i really need help here anybody, i have a 1998 chevy, 6.5l turbo diesel. i replaced the fuel filter, but i bought the the wrong one, tried cranked and cranked, so i put the original old dirty one, and its takes awhile to start, but then it finally starts. then we tried the new filter again(same one) and doesnt start, and we put the orginal one back in. and now its doesnt start. i did all the procedures from the manual. is there any tricks to start it up nicer. its a bitch to start it up.....
@jakefitzpatricka oh we figured it out with my dad, the fuel supply pump went out. where it was located under the fram of the truck. so we bought a new one for 92 bucks at shucks. and installed, when i put it to the crank postion on the key, we hear it pumping and it bleed the on the top of the fuel filter. and the engine started with in 10 seconds. but thank you for you advice
