does anyone know if there is a dvd or video of the whole concert? i can only find the two songs world keep on turning and like it this way,, does anyone if the whole concert was released???
I just love this clip. It is pure class written all over it. Just Blues played whole heartedly with no inhibitions at all. I think they were as good as anybody at this time, live. I heard them on the BBC in 1968. It made such an impression on me. God bless you Peter.
jTurlik: thanks. OMG I cannot believe this video exists. I could listen/watch this every day of my life. What a great group. FMac in these days were peerless. Do u have any more"?
This video is brilliant. There is precious little "live" footage of the vintage Mac; this is one of the best I've seen. What is this from? Thank you thank you thank you for posting this! A great opportunity to see what is probably the best Brit blues band ever. Any footage of Peter fronting, from this same concert?
@NicolletIslandSlim - you are so right. the only other live footage i can think of, is from the bbc from october or november 1969, when the mac performed "oh well," "linda" and "like crying." that is also brillaint and unsurpassable in my opinion.
I purchased their "Live At The BBC" double disk set, which had some interesting and rare stuff: Danny playing solo acoustic on Early Morning Come, and Jeremy playing a stellar solo slide acoustic on Preachin'. Not to be confused with Peter's amazing Preachin' Blues, where he channels Robert Johnson. Jeremy was also a very nice piano player; makes you wish (1) there was video of some of these performances, and (2) that the solo instrumental talents of JS and DK had been showcased even more.
When I was learning guitar all those years ago and I came across that three chord formula that every musician learns pretty early on in his training, I found it the most excruciatingly dull thing to play.
I always used it as a measure of my audience's intelligence how enthusiastic they were about such repetative, mechanical emotionless drivel. I was never surprised. The people I knew were less intelligent always thought it was 'great' and those who preferred the more unique stuff were smarter.
Wlwak, your comments were perhaps an example of someone trying to be as pompous and offensive as they could with minimum effort. Perhaps the most impressive guitarists Ive ever seen have played within what some may consider a restrictive framework with consummate timing, tone and sheer imagination and humour. I often find folk who make your kind of remarks play far too much and meander aimlessly, utilising the mush that they presumably feel is their tone.
Hahaha, that is the single most stupid thing i've ever heard. I usually see how intellegent people are when makeing remarks such as this, that u can see how "smart or dumb" somebody is by what they like for kind of music. But sure, white folks are smart and black people are just slaves, huh? You can see it on the colour. You are nothing but a racist, but in a different pair of cloth you are!
@wlwak: You do not sound like a tough grizzled old soldier but some kind of dandified nancy boy, who is afraid of wars and you are indubitably no sea-dog but the sort of pasty landlubber I have always despised. I'll warrant the most exciting thing that has happened to you limpid prawn in a whole year, was the day when you forgot to put sugar in your porridge!
I have read that Peter Green asked Danny Kirwan to join because Jeremy was only interested in doing Elmore James stuff. Also Peter wanted to expand his music more.
Jeremy Spencer, Peter Green and Danny Kirwan - the three finest white bluesmen at the time, and all in the same band. Don't ya just love the early Mac?
ah mac how i love thee. theres somthing about there blues when the go to the A chord they do that little bit at 0:18 - 0:20 just drives me mad lol dunno why.
Peter Green , Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan . Three great guitarists in one band a lot better than most multiple guitar bands like lynard skynard , the Allman Brothers , maybe with the exception of Wishbone Ash they pretty much pale in comparison . Thank you John Mayall !!!
this the one and only Fleetwood Mac for me-those where the days!
