If you have a newer version of the iphone 4 buy a Pentalobe screwdriver, because with a 00 Philips it will not work. Do this if you dont wanna strip your screws!! THUMBS UP

@n0sch0oLn0FuturE actually on all apple mobile devices the simcard area is accessible without opening the phone. It is accessible by poking the key which is given to you upon purchase of the device, or using a staple to poke in the hole which opens the sim card slot, not unscrewing anything.

@fartnox Supposedly yes. I don't honestly know how or if they can even tell. I heard they put something like clear finger nail polish over the screw heads, to see when they have been tampered with. But I dont see anything. Maybe it's only noticable under a blacklight or something weird like that.

@EliteGeek91 Yeah, they use a blacklight. I have experience. They will only use it, if they need to. If you dont say anything about it then no, but depends. If you have to replace the back and ask them to do it, they will use a light to see what happened to it. The guy that I took my 3g to, told me that it had water inside of it within 2 seconds of using the light. My screws are scratched so....

@dranzender91 Mine are cross-shaped (Philips), but Apple did use the 5-star (Torx) screws on a few iPhone 4's. Why? I'm not sure. But yes I've seen a few that have the 5-star screws.

Great question! Well "supposedly" they can tell. And yes it voids your warranty. I've heard they have a really fine film of a clear coat (Sorta like clear fingernail polish) over the screws, so once you scratch it off by unscrewing the screws, they can tell. I don't know if I believe that. But of course I've never sent in my iPhone for repairs, so maybe they do know. You know Apple, they keep up with our every move..

Yes, I understand what you mean. But I just made it for the people who wants to change their iPhone to white, or who needs to replace a battery, and would rather do it theirselves.

And thanks! I got it about 2 weeks ago. I love it, it runs smoothly, and very fast. But of course it's a little slow while editing my videos, but it don't bother me.

one can not change their iP-4 black to white simply by removing the guts and change the housing, it's not easy, I saw a video of some gizmodo or cnet type channel on youtube of removing the insides of iP-4 and iPad. you have to be very careful not to cut certain leads or damage the insides. and where would one get the "white" housing anyway? Apple does not sell the housing, nor have I heard/read about any company offering to change the black to white by transferring the guts

Yes you can. My friend did a change. You gotta be VERY careful though to not rip out any wires, around the speakers. You can find the white housings on eBay. Some are very cheapy, but sometimes you can find a leaked oem housing, made by Foxconn, who makes all the iPhone housings.

Mine is that new one that came out in Oct. With the flash hard drive. My specs are 11" screen, and 64gb flash hard drive. They also have bigger hard drives, and a 13", but I can't afford to pay more than what I did. And I bought mine at the Apple Store, paid with cash.

thanks for sharing, I'm aware of what Apple offers on the new AIR. I was only curious to know which one you picked up. what I dont understand is that while the country is being flushed into the toilet these last 5 years, (specifically 2-3) how does anyone have money to spend buying up all these tech toys & gadgets? I barely afforded to pay for my iP-4 and now I dont have money to keep my cell line on, will have to turn off my line end of month :-(

And I know exactly what you mean. I was jobless, until I got desperate and started selling on eBay. You can even go to garage sales, flea markets, etc, and find nice stuff that you know is worth more than it;s being sold for, buy it, and sell it on eBay. Craigslist is also good to buy stuff from, but make sure to meet in person to prevent scams.

Just pray to God, and everything will work out. And remember, there are people who are worse off then us in life.
