@Goombuu Well in the origanal Super Mario Bros, Mario and Luigi live in Brooklyn and they found a portal in their toilet that sends them to the Mushroom Kingdom. But in Super Mario Land 1&2, he lives in Mario Land and while he was in Sarasaland tring to rescue Princess Daisy from the evil Tatanga, Wario took over Mario Land. And after Mario rescued the Princess he went back to Mario Land he found out that Wario had took it over.

So everyone knows: Wario takes over Marios castle, and locks him out, so Mario has to collect the coins which are the keys to the front door which Wario had scattered across the kingdom. As you play the final level, you see M's on the windows and a statue of Mario, which indeed signifies it is actually Marios castle.

As a kid I would always cheese the 2nd part of the fight by getting him to land in front of the statue and then just standing on top of it. Of course the bunny ears made everything so easy anyway but they were a lot of fun. Have a lot of good memories of this game.

So is that baby at the end Wario without mushroom? And was jumping off the Castle actually necessary? As far as I see the plot, this game plays at the end of Marios timeline. Bowser is long dead and Wario is the only enemy left. After defeating Wario, Mario realizes, that there is no more meaning to his life and he jumps off the castle. Appearently the princess is already dead by that time and luigi isnt there either...Yoshis are long extinct. Mario follows his friends and foes to the afterlife.
