The gangster is in the lab with the doctor. The corpse walks towards his target. Buchanan speaks to the target through the corpse... so the corpse says he's Buchanan because Buchanan speaks through him. That's why he says "You're not Buchanan", because he sees the corpse. The corpse breaks into the gangster's office by breaking through the window in exactly the same way as in the song. And the target's people say "Let us in boss" and then shoot at the corpse who is "impervious to bullets".

Buchanan is the gangster who hires the scientist to build his creatures with the atom brain... the first one is sent to some other gangster and Buchanan speaks to the gangster through the re-animated corpse ... he then breaks the gangster's back, and the henchmen say "Let us in, boss! Let us in boss!", and then they shoot the reainmated corpse that walks away. "Get into the automobile", the scientist tells the corpse. "Put the key in the ignition and drive away".

Isn't it more like Buchanan IS "the Creature with the Atom Brain", a reanimated, atom-powered corpse taking his revenge on district attorney McGraw and whoever else he blames for his dead? That's what I got out of it, at least.

Anyway, this song is such a great mindfuck, like all of Mr. Erickson's works. I guess he himself never found any of it that "great", though. Unfortunatelly, it's often tragedy which begets the greatest art.
