Larry......Even though i have SO MUCH to learn about music,:) i do know one thing....Playing like this takes much skill, which you definately have....However, when you play, you do it so smooth and you make it look like it would be easy to learn.....That is the sign of a true musician.....ione marie
I Love this song, Thanks for Posting. We play all these great classics and more at
TOMA'S TIMELESS TUNES, I'd love you to stop by and give a listen. seems like we love the same type music. I'd love to have you stop by. I subscribed to your Channel, Hope you'll do the same for me. thanks again. Tommy toma.
Actually I stand corrected: Apache was originally recorded by Bert Weedon in 1960 who passed it on to The Shadows also in 1960. Jorgen Ingmann had perhaps the biggest hit with the song in 1961. The Ventures recorded Apache in 1963.
if the Shadows wouldn`t have recorded it and we`d only know this or Jörgens rendition surely many of us would like it. I think each versions has it`s own feeling Who does not like this or another version is not forced to listen . And first of all not to give nonsense comments.
I like to listen to all versions every now and then and after having listened to Shadows Apache for some times I find pleasure in listening to the other ones.
Heard Jørgen Ingemann a few years ago on the radio talking about his cover of Apache, and that he spend alot of time trying to make "the arrow sounds"..
OUTSTANDING!!!!! Job mate. It is obvious that you feel the moment in your soul. Your playing is magic. I would like to say unearthly but I will be called the fool. What is your name. Get it out there. YOU ARE GOOD, REAL GOOD.
My earlier comment was made out of frustration that so many records are stripped off of You Tube or aren't allowed at all for copyright reasons. Sony's been doing that a lot in the case of Dylan tunes. Just inappropriate misplaced venting on my part that had nothing to do with your playing, which is very good. My apologies.
You sir, must have mystical talents because it sounds like you are definitely channeling Jorgen Ingmann himself (which is quite a trick since he's still alive and well at last report in Denmark lol), your talent shines through like the Sun on a hot summer's day in the desert, and your love for the music is revealed in your face, thanks for sharing it with us, God Bless You!
Thank You podline 66 this brings back some old memories. The original was composed by Jerry Lordan and was first released June 1960 in the UK by "The Shadows" . I still have the original album cover (alas the vinyl itself did not survive).
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You need to write It's a cover of a cover of the original...... Jorgen didn't cover it ..... I can see your not use to people telling you you could have done it better .... Surrounded yourself with YES men did ya.
FYI, Jorgen DID cover it. Also, it's you're, NOT your. And used, NOT use. If you're going to post negative comments, or any comments for that matter, at least use proper English. If people want a song's entire history, they can Google it, or maybe just ask you, since you fancy yourself an expert.
This man can play some guitar....here's a request, Cross Roads, by the greatest blues man of all, and grandfather of rock and roll, the great Robert Johnson...rock on !!!
The Ventures album with this song on it, played in my home for years! Your version sounds just like it, though better I must say :) Thank you Larry! Excellent as always!
This has been covered by hundreds, but never as true to the real thing as we have here, Larry. All those little nuances you reproduce so well separate you from the crowd by light-years.
I found this performance to be very moving when you first posted it...still find it so. You are a master, Larry. And that Jaguar is one pretty guitar! :)
I love that you did this the first time. I grew up with my parents' Venture albums which I adored. They represent (to me) those often fantasized about long California summer days (growing up in humid Ohio, it's what I fantasized summertime being.) lol Thanks for bringing back that feeling to a late summer Pittsburgh evening.
Larry.....I like when you give an instrumental with guitar play as skilled as yours......and i find myself looking up the history of songs and musicians, thanks to you:).....this one sets a relaxing mood for a weekend day...ione marie

Ever since I heard Davie Allan's version in 1965, I've liked this song.
Great job, as usual! Really enjoyed it. You'd give Hank Marvin a run for his money.

Btw- you are a great guitar-player. Reg. Ernst

It's not a Ventures cover. That would imply the Ventures wrote it in the first place. Which they didn't.
the composer was a chap from London called Jerry Lordan (look it up).

@Mark761966 Honestly, who cares? I covered the Ventures version. I really dislike nitpicky critiques.
podline66 1 year ago 2
@Mark761966 Hmmm...I wondered who actually wrote Apache. The first time I ever heard it was on a record by Hank marvin and The Shadows.

The slower tempo makes it sound more Apache than cowboy like the "Shadow's". I liked your presentarion very much. Outstanding job.
