  • 0:33 don't feed! he bites!

  • rock'n roll yeah!

  • I am a doctor and I like it very much:))

  • this video is fun ... dance like him ! :D

  • K PENA K YA NO HAGAN UN RECOPILATORIO

  • I was into Sisters pre-internet and never thought of looking them up on Youtube. That's a great video, years ahead of its time.

  • Forget politics guys, this is just a great track for blasting along the motorway to...nuff said.

  • Strange how fuckin'current most of their lysrics seem to stay, they have been together since before I got born (ithink...) and I have been listening to them for about 16 year. So they only get better like that.

  • and Europe gonna be sucked in The WW IV against Islam World.

  • @Noizou

YES ! but you mean WW III

  • @Peterholland1991 No, I consider The Cold War between The USSR and The USA as WWIII.

  • @Peterholland1991 And The WWIV began in 2001. USA and its Al-Queda agents VS The World

Usama Bin-Laden was the agent of CIA. He fought against Soviet troops in Afganistan. I think, he still IS a CIA agent.

  • @Noizou

    You can´t prove that.

  • @Peterholland1991 Yes I can`t. And nobody can. But it`s a common knowledge, that Al-Quaeda and Bin-Ladden were supported by CIA during Soviet campaign in Afganistan. The question is if they are independent now, or still work for... somebody)

  • @Peterholland1991 somebody wants to organize a conflict of civilizations. But it`s a fake, the real question sounds like that: "Why most people in the World have to live in poverty?''

The UN would be better to give some food to the starving Africans rather than fight against Gaddafi. But they are interested only in their profit from Libiyan oil.

  • Up to date. Becoming more and more actual.... Now Dr. Jeep leeds its way to Libiya and Europe. What`s up next?

  • 0:00 head like a hole from Nine Inch Nails .

  • @darwleg and depeche mode "get the balance right" 3 great bands all in one vid lol

  • @stoo1974 I like NIN and Syters of Mercy but Depeche is fucking awesome !

  • @darwleg *Sisters

  • the work is politcal... maybe that was a dirty word in those days.

now if music doesn't smell of revolution it is shit.

  • I find that the Sisters have always challenged my intellect, and required a bit of historical investigation on my part. For over twenty years, I have enjoyed their music, and find them to be an anthem to cultural and socio-political events throughout modern history.

  • The Hezbollah are back in the news.

  • I like this and Detonation Boulevard....both more uptempo pieces. Didn't identify with the "culture" per se, but I liked the music.

  • it has the darkness, else - can we stick with simply rock please? if you got issues with labels. listen to something else that embraces that.

  • Best song !

  • This is what goth and EMO aspire to be but cannot obtain for themselves because they lack originallity.

  • I like it...be wild, agaisnt the ones want to tell you, how to live!

  • This is a great record!

  • 0:35 kiler record

  • Awesome song. As for labels, just stick to goth'n'roll..

  • I have always thought that SoM had as much in common with Ministry as they had with The Cure.

    Industrial Goth Metal?

  • Outstanding rock and roll!

    Thanks for posting!!!

  • what was that at the very begining

  • @wherewildthings

It sounds like "Get the Balance Right" from Depeche Mode...

  • There is a difference between early SoM ("Walk on Glass") , mid-SoM ("Black Planet") and late-SoM ("More"). I think it fair to say that very early SoM had strong goth overtones and perhaps could be called goth, and that Eldritch mixed in "Industrial Metal" and other influences over time such that it can't really be called goth today regardless of what you might have called it once. (eg: "Gimmie gimmie gimmie" is not goth.)

  • I see a dark cinism in all the phases, the name goth could be used cause they had similarities with a lot of bands wich were influenced by iggy pop, david bowie.

  • If you are in for the labels, use your ears to find that the Vision Thing album is plain, powerfull, awesome Rock´n´Roll like Guns´n´Roses or Motörhead. ;o)=)

Andrew about where in the genres he sees the Sisters: "Between the Pet Shop Boys and Motörhead". -On Target, eh?

Oh, and has anyone ever seen any clear definition that´s beyond the opinion of the NME about what´s to be called goth? After all the NME invented that genre.

  • if you are in for the labels, than you are missing a point ... by far...

does it really matters if they were or were not goth? do we have to stand so weak and unable to be individuals, where that sickening need of belonging to a group comes from? I'm me and I am social being happy to know each and everyone around for their story and their soul as unique as it is is valuable part in this jigsaw puzzle we call world.

  • I'll have a pint of whatever Eldritch is on!! Grin! Lord love him! ;-) x

  • I'd imagine it would kill the average man in a couple of sips, best to stay away :D

  • Yes andrew! Shake that sexy ass! lol

  • i love the singer's dance

  • the coke and pot in the 80's -- produced profound thinkers - man - him , the guy from " the fixx " and bono could have saved the world.

  • Hmmm

  • Friggin' LOVE the song... but it is definitely a sell-out for the Sisters... LOVE IT!!!

  • @hal9thou001

They sold out with the first record.

  • "Is this like, Jeopardy?"

    "Yeah, heh heh"

  • Why try and put a label on something! there are way to many... if im gonna label Sisters of mercy then I''d call then "F*ing Awesome!!!!" And if i were to label Katy Perry I'd label her "Sh*t" and thats good enough for me!

  • But, unfortunately , sometimes labels are necessary.

To be honest, I'd quite happily just say that Sister are a rock band, but then, with so many different types of rock it's helpful to be able to shove some sub-categories in there.

  • estupendo de lo mejor. grupos como sisters of mercy no hay

  • DOKTOR AVALANCHE

  • A pre-owned song ar a second-hand Uzi

Everybody got a job to lose

  • Should be our national anthem imagine the 2012 games with this blasting out hehehe

  • @xjboy550 also from the uk, seconded :)

  • Imperialism, capitalism, apathy.

  • 1:39 - Resembles Wayne.

  • Kennedy resembles Wayne?

  • que intenso que intensidad siniestra

  • jajaja si se de q estas hablando XD

  • is that the end of head like a hole

  • What the hell are these lyrics about? Even for Sisters of Mercy this is cryptic.

  • The lyrics are about the blurring effect of TV, with the news and adverts being indistinguishable.

  • Really? I thought this entire album was just a sort of extended criticism of American policy and the American way of life. Some of the tracks make this point more directly than others, but the title "Vision Thing" leaves little to imagination.

  • dude, no shit looks just like the fly

  • this clip really makes me think about the fly by U2

  • goooothic

  • "i like Ike and his itty bitty A bomb...

Everybody got one, I want mine

You can order it up on Channel 9

meanwhile, in the Sheraton Dr Jeep plays on and on and on"

    Simply brilliant.

    Eldritch the BOSS

  • singer has a micheal jackson nose

  • Gotta love The Sisters!! classic after classic :)

  • interesting how an oldie like this is so relevant today, it's even got a line about hezbollah ^^

  • a question for the goths out there have you ever been hated by other goths because u listen to sissters of mercy and not "real goth music" cause i have

  • *amazed*

Isn't Sisters Of Mercy the "real 'goth'-band thing" then? As for The Cure, Bauhaus, Alien sex fiend, ect...

  • well andrew eldrich is is basicly the godfather

its just people think real goth is just like well....i honestly dont kno id say manson and like afi but i only listen to classic goth like SoM, the cure, and clan of Xymox

  • no no no they aren't the first. field of the nephilim were the FIRST but didn't really see themselves that way. then bands like alien sex fiend, red lorry yellow lorry, 1909 and the damned came along into the genre. but FotN were the first and best!

  • flossie999 - Either I didn't understand your comment or time is moving in reverse for you! All those bands you named were around before FotN(I think their first record was '86). I would say Bauhaus and UK Decay were the first real goth bands, then there were Sex Fiend, Sex Gang, Death Cult, 1919, Red Lorry, Sisters etc ...THEN Fields. Interesting theory though!

  • the first goth bands were punk bands, like souixe and the banshees. It was an evolution.

    FotN came a lot later.

  • They are also a vision thing.

  • so how about that obama hey?

  • Obama should be featured in this video.

  • Don't hope you taped over head like a hole, thats a great song to you know.

  • "meanwhile, in the sheraton, doctor jeep play on and on and on.." If I am not mistaken this line refer to Senior G Bush sitting by the piano playing as the US bombed certain areas in the world.

  • AAAMAZING!

  • This almost has that Industrial Metal like KMFDM feel to it and even a Nu Metal like Static X even though that might require a flame shield it has that chug guitar and drum sound.

  • 30 goth points if anyone! can name the sisters of mercy's drum machine.

  • dr avalanche

  • jason cooper, oh hang on, no, that's the cure's drum machine.

  • i love andrew in a white suit!♥♥

  • Awesome tune.

  • Doctor feelgood!!

  • Great song and great album. Sisters of Mercy made only great things, a vision things.

  • I was really stoked on it when it was released. I thought of it as an interesting spin for the band. Just wish they'd have released something after.... I've always thought this track to be sort of a nod to billy idol's white wedding. as funny as that might sound.

  • doesn't sound funny. i can hear white wedding too. nice to know someone's ears operate like mine. i hear another song in the bass line but i can't place it

  • It's called evolution....

  • gimme a break. this is crap. If evolution means becoming bland and boring then you are right. I was the biggest Sisters fan back in 1983 and I still love the old stuff. This just sucks. Listen to First and Last and Always and then tell me how great Vision Thing is.

  • Well if that's your opinion, than it's your opinion. Personally I love First and Last and Always and it's my favorite of theirs, but I don't think Vision Thing sucks. But to each their own.

  • I think all the albums have their own charm, they're different from each other, but still good in their own ways.

  • Its like a vote for "Me" election ad 2008 style--just flavor it Dem or Rep

  • "old stuff" being the operative word.

Trust me , I totally agree with your sentiments and I, too, was there in 1983....

Also, 'bland' and 'boring', really?! There are many adjectives you could have chosen but these aren't two of them for this song..

How many bands have release the same music over and over and over again....and failed.

MY opinion is that this is a great.

    Each to their own...

  • 1:00 "MEV" Appears on the lower right of the screen

1:05ish There is a man on the screen that looks kind of like Lennon, then it flips to people shooting guns.

1:08 The screen says "KEEP OUT"

    1:35... I don't know what this is.

    2:31 O.R.

2:34ish there is a message that flashes, I cant tell, but i think it was "God Save The

    Queen"

Well thats all i can find, its pretty funny actually.

  • at 0:38 there is a dollar sighn on the screens behind Eldritch, and then it flips to "I Love"

    (I love Lucy?)

0:36 Eldritch is on the screen, instead of the other guy.

0:37 there is some symbol... like the tree of life with no stars. Don't know what it is.

0:44 there is "The Emorer" something on the screen. And Immediately after is shows "The Emperor Is Naked In White Letters.

0:51 there is a man waving, as he moves to the left, the words "Free" and something else are on a sign. (Berlin?)

  • 0:58 there is a yen sign. This is what the 0:37 was, but i did not pick it up right away.

Oh and the Dollar Sigh, I figured it out, its "I Love Money"

  • Woah, This Video Is Full Of Subliminal Messages.... The Screen Flashes The Emperor is naked right away near the beginning... Then there is like a frame flash of eldritch with a background that says something like: "Sioth" (at 0:05)

At 0:28 at the top right of the screen there is some lettering: This B" and i cant see the rest.

  • The Emporer Is Naked?

  • Hmm... Yeah SoM Is goth. While they are not trying to, they did become one of the most important groups. Although it is also just rock, and occasionally Industrial, it definatly is goth. After all. Its the fans that supply the labels, not the group. (Lol)

Actually I just found out, and was totally mad about, SoM out Dominion into that game Grand theft auto 4. I'm going to guess that the majority of the people that are claiming their Not-Gothyness, found this band through the game.

  • Not that you whould admit it, if you had.

Also what do you people have against Gothic Rock Anyways? Gothic Rock is awesome.

(Oh and sorry to the random Rocker who was actually around in the 80's but you know what? Gothic Rock is Rock.)

  • The fans decide nothing. Sorry bucko.

  • In that case.

Mozart could have been reggae if he said his music was.

MUSIC HAS DEFINITIONS FOR A REASON!!!!!! -.-

  • Andrew is a smart guy, he never would say : I am goth. Post-punk is a reality, goth is a name created by the press for a couple of bands and then, a lot of idiot people started to paint the face and say: I am goth. Ha Ha Ha...

  • sendtomrc: So damn true, I was growing up with Sisters of Mercy and more, and Goth didn't exist for those at all.

  • It was there very early on, The sisters were labeled as goth early on in their careers and the fans dressed in that way from early on, as did the Andrew himself and to go along with Edritch's line on this is wrong.

I mean, who calls themselves Eldritch anyway? a Goth thats who!

  • I disagree. Goth is a reality because the subculture was labeled and given a form. Where do you think the term post-punk came from? It was bestowed upon music that sound different from anything else that existed. First and Last and Always definitely sounds what the label goth describes. It sounds different than post-punk. Eldritch, unlike Marilyn Manson who simply marketed his industrial rock as goth, actually made goth music, and ironically had a profound impact on the subculture.

  • Non prejudice nordicks trying to find their culture without hate, however lots of sex, but sex is violence, well I guess it's a conundrum, as long as it's consensuall}:>

  • I totally disagree, I can see that people here are willing to go along with the line Eldritch spews about Goth, but I was around at the time and he was happy with the imagery and being labelled goth for years before he spoke up. I find his criticism of a subculture that he was part of and influenced sad. Of course you clearly like him too much to consider the possibility he may be being unfair to Goths. I think you need to bemore tolerant of people who choose to dress as Goths.

  • and another thing, "Andrew is a smart guy" as he keeps reminding us.

  • @sendtomrc Goth/Emo is a pathetic shadow of what it use to be when I was a teenager. Old School Goths should face fuck these Emo kids with a knife for ruining the subculture.

  • @ChiefEmbalmer so true

  • @sendtomrc dont speak for me shithead, im goth since 84. you are a fuckin cock.

  • @sendtomrc lol you are an idiot.

  • @sendtomrc FULL ACK!!! I love the Music of The Sisters of Mercy before they split off into The Mission and Andrew Eldritchs Solo Projects Floodland and Vision Thing. But.... I like many songs like "1959" or "Colours", "More" and of Course "Dr. Jeep". But: To to see Andrew in a white business suite is really strange for me, as i am part of the Generation in Black.

  • @sendtomrc Nah, the real gothic rock exist, Bauhaus are very very different to U2 and The Cult. Lacrimosa isn't the only gothic band, the painted face is a stereotype.

  • @sendtomrc Andrew also said he wasn't post-punk. He said something along the lines of, "We don't know who the fuck Alien Sex Fiend are and we don't want to know." Actually, that's verbatim.

Nor did he claim to be Heavy Metal as every thirteen-year-old "I am so Goth lol" on youtube thinks he did. He said they were a classic rock band, and with the exception of First and Last and Always, frankly, I can see it.

Anyway, genres are labels for the fans, not the music. The music is just "good."

  • @KomradeAnon - So let's call rock band, just like other dark bands like to be called. About F&L&A, for me it's the most R'n'R album.

  • @sendtomrc wow, you're going to insult an entire subculture of perfectly nice people? fuck you. fyi, most of the sisters' profit and fanbase came straight from--guess fucking who?--GOTHS

  • kkkk sorry Girl...hehehehe

  • Very good man !

your list reminds me the past

    Thank you

  • \o/

  • Trust me, everything NIN did (some awesome stuff), SoM did before, years before......

I'm not even starting on Depeche.......honest...that's funny! Just try getting ur facts straight...

  • tal vez la mejor cancion de the sisters, lo bueno es la letra, como critica a los putos jankis

  • this video is craaazy.. I mean that in a good way. Love the "meanwhile meanwhile meanwhile" part especially.

  • Don't minus me for helping the guy find out what the opening clip is...which is NIN - Head Like A Hole

  • the clip before the song here is actually Depeche Mode - Get the Balance Right :]

    on watch?v=Hk_3W60XbHI

  • the clips right before the song starts? that's actually the video for head like a hole by NIN. If you don't believe me go watch the video

  • this isn't goth

  • Ye i know

    Gothic rock

  • No, it's not Gothic anything. That statement being applied to the Sisters isn't correct or okay anywhere, but you definitely don't want to say that if Andrew were ever in your presence...

  • Ok OK its not goth you win I am wrong you are right lets finish this story

  • Never seen Andrew dance like this. Wow.. Freaky.. Not used to this... yet... haha

  • I STILL love this song!!!

  • the emperor is naked...and wearing a white suit :)

  • I Haven´t realized this before, but this video really reminds me of Neil Young's Rocking in the free world. Another great song, very similar to this in many aspects.

  • love, love, love, love, love, 5 stars !!!!!!!!!

  • THIS VID IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!! 5 STaRS!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song is a clear message to the USA's president.

  • Well they were bombing the crap out of Iraq. First time out. Went back and did them again when they looked like getting up.

Still, the US will always sell weapons to people and then go after them and the sell again. It's called, "repeat business".

  • what's the name of the song in the first half second?

  • "Head Like A Hole" - Nine Inch Nails

  • Starts off "Get the Balance Right" by Depeche Mode

  • naw, its NIN

  • naw, its NIN

  • I got married in a sheratan hotel. On the morning of my wedding my best mate broke into my room and woke me up by playing this song.

"meanwhile in the sheraton Dr Jeep plays on..." Heady days... (daze even)

  • Its dangerous to have this one on in the car man....the right-foot gets too heavy , he he. AWESOME!

  • Me too!

  • I remember this from Beavis and Butt-Head, "Is this jeopardy?" Ha Ha.

  • lol yeah "you're now discolorfied"

  • damn love this song!! btw isnt the first piece of the videoclip also featured in the nin clip head like a hole? (or am i wrong with that)

  • This sounds different to the album version if I recall correctly - it's not as heavy.

  • I saw this on beavis and butt-head it was awesome!

  • Probably their most guitar driven song ever. Great song and video.

  • I absolutely can't agree. It's pretty rhythmic, but I'd NEVER call this their most guitar-driven song. Not by a longshot.

  • Dear Jim'll,

Can you fix it for me to BE Andrew Eldritch?

  • lolz.

yeah you and loadsa others too

  • looks like 2007, not the 90s

  • cool song

  • GREAT band with GREAT videos. Very well done!

  • what a great song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A great song from a great band!!! This line-up featured Tony James of Generation X and Sigue Sigue Sputnik on bass classic!!!

  • le meilleur dans tout ça c'est quand meme d'avoir suprimé un bon morceaux de la chanson!

  • This is very "rock and roll" for him.

  • djee fukking great song!
