Hello! As mayor, he stood up for the PEOPLE and fought the banks and mafia. In retaliation, the banks refused to roll over the city's loan (for a debt created prior to Dennis taking office). The mafia even tried to kill him.

In 1998, Cleveland honored him for having the "courage and foresight" to stand up to the banks and saving the city an estimated $195 million between 1985 and 1995. Even more by now. Not to mention the jobs that he also saved.
