One of the good tips to understand BB king style is his usage of the pentatonic scales. He usually connect two scales at the same time and he use this space to create a third scale between those two and that will add more varity to his options of blues notes and licks.
You dumbass 14 year old bitches... learn to appreciate music. If you like to hear Guthries slow impros then type "Guthrie Govan Cold Winter Blues" and "Guthrie Govan Prowling Blues" and listen carefully with your retarded ears. If you don't understand fast passages in music then go and listen Lady Gaga.
the original post was just saying Aynsley is a Great player, a new breed with all the style, taste and pickin skills of the old, keeping traditional blues style guitar alive and well. Aynsley got the blues!!!!
@dathiroz this is an old post but the retards keep coming out of the woods, Audio science is what it sounds like.....the science of audio, not playing music but recording and producing it, and to do that you must also understand the theory and music composition. If you read all my posts I never slandered anyone's playing ability only the title of Blues guitar player, which guthrie is not, and if you are claiming he is, you are retarded, he is awesome at speed playing, no one said he wasnt
This was boring as hell to me. It's like he wasn't even listening to the track behind him. I was able to predict every note this guy was gonna play, and now I see people alluding to him being a great blues player?? Guthrie does blues much better than this guy because he has the feel.
listen to the nuance and the blues, sorry but Guthrie is not a blues guitarist at all, he's great but blues is not his cup of tea..... blues isnt about being theatrical or a speed demon. its about expressing a feeling and its not speed licks that gets the message across. Aynsley is doin it right.
@acidraz Aynsley is doing it more in a classic manner, that doesnt mean that guthrie shouldnt play blues in his own style. His speed isnt only show but compliments his phrasing too.
And what do you mean by this "its about expressing a feeling and its not speed licks that gets the message across"?
Theres alot of fast musicians who are great at what they do. Are you bias against fast music? Or are you one of those ppl who cant hear emotion in fast music?
lol I used to play professionally and have a degree in music and audio science. Guthrie is a great guitar player but lets not throw the word blues into his playing he might use blues scales or stole a note or 2 from the masters, but blues he's not. As far as fast music, the heart beats to the music and if its 100 mph then theres about only 2 emotions you are gonna get from that. Not saying fast music isnt talent, I just dont like people branding someone with a title they dont deserve.
@acidraz Are you telling me that its impossible to feel something from fast music because of how fast the heart beats? I strongly doubt a heart beat determines if music sounds good to somebody or if it sounds bad. I dont think Guthrie is known as a blues player at all either way. He might dabble in it but no one is saying you heard of that great blues player guthrie govan? IMO hes a great guitarist. But whos more deserving of his title? Obviously you have an opinion on that.

To be honest, as much respect as I have GG when I watch him...well, that just it...I tend to watch him more than I listen to the music he's making - this guy I close my eyes and float of into the blues.
i rather hear aynsley when i'm in a neutral mood. And hear guthrie when i'm awaiting spectacular energy. And that doesnt mean i prefer any of these two guitarist.
Besides, aynsley is a better influence fo rme, cause playing like guthrie ... i practced a lot the technique so i can kick asses, but at the end i can't use any of them in blues, i just can't play like guthrie, so aynsley ... here we go
wonderful stuff... the tone is reminiscent of Peter Green -who would have been influenced by BB King, of course. The phrasing is great - lots of spaces to create question and answer statements with the the "breathing pattern" of a sax player - from jazz players. One last thing, the player's expression shouldn't have a place in one's comments unless it's so distracting that it competes for attention ( i.e. a "tick" or something) -this guy's look is neutral - acceptable in a pro player.
I have read comments about people that want see this guy a little more in touch his own emotion in the playing.
But what the hell should a guitarist do,for feeling his emotions? Why should we judge a guitarist by his facial expressions? So,if he had played without filming his face,he would have played without emotions? Don't talk shit! In my opinion,it would be better if we watched his hands, rather his face!!
This guy is decent! I would just like to see him a little more in touch his own emotion in the playing. I want to see him feeling it and not just looking off to the side like he's bored or not paying attention. A little more fire in personality! Good stuff though. DONT GET ME WRONG!
Are you fecking serious? He had the most feeling with what he was playing when matt schofield brought him to the stage and he played one frigging note and it owned everything. But tbh matt and the other geust denny illete were pretty awesome.
you have a lot to learn abouit music brother. Music is not aboutrace.thesooner you learn that the better music lover you will be. trust me, i'm white and blues its the only music i like.l play it as respect to all the old timers that truely lived the blues. i'm so sick of racism with music. everyone can the blues, not everyone has lived it...but they all have it in their own way. my oldest brother died, claptons little boy died, i'd say we have plenty of reason to play the blues. no hard feelins
@Torfinnmadssen Agreed. Personally I don't care for Clapton's style but he's a VERY fine player. I can't stand the songs Mick Hucknall sings butthat doesn't mean tha I am not in awe of his vocal talent...

U stupid prick. If he wasnt any good why would guitarist magazine hire him to play over tracks. And why would they allow him to write for the magazine. I dont see you appearing in guitarist. I cant wait to meet him. My band are supporting this guy at the duchess in york. He is brilliant!!!!
This guy has good feel and nice note selection. It all fits together very neat and tidy. It's very British, I love it. I've always loved British blues especially Clapton, Kossoff, Peter Green and Mick Taylor. I feel a strong sense of that tradition in this guys playing here.
oh come on old chap, Mr. GuitarSmart, guitarttimman has a different style. Granted, he can play this, in fact, knows it note for note now, but this guy is good too. :-)
If you look at the title of the video it clearly states that he's playing over a B.B King style track. Not that he himself is playing like B.B. Funny thing to get angry about though.
seen him playing on these different backing tracks, but what he was doing there gives me no impress how he plays really, this is always copying the style of great guitar players, not bad, but i wanted to hear him play like he would and not like others would
