As a European and a German I have to say that Russia and China would be way better long-time strategic partners than the USA. It is time that Europe stops sucking on the United States c*ck and makes decisions in their own interests. I am not saying we should turn our backs on the US. But we should not let them dictate who we work together with.

now that the oligarchs are out of russia or at least out in russia's game, they need to ally with other strong people like german and persian to stop the weak ugly lazy psychopaths in israel and save USA
Putin speaks sensible stuff and actually tells what is going on about the energy and economy. This guy is truly great and knowledgable, unlike some other speakers who only talk about change but do not say how they will do it.
But I hear Putin pushing his goal for north stream pipeleine in this video. It might explain all the baloney that he is creating re gas = 0for EU via Ukraine.
WTF do north american gas prices have to do with anything?
I don't see the rest of Europe bitching about the price or failing to pay their bills.
North stream pipes were going to get built weather ukraine pays for its gas or not. Putin has been pushing for gas transit independence for the last 4 years!!
LOL...the last one who wants the return of the USSR is Putin XD
LOL....keep bitching Ukraine, your balls will be alot smaller when you are not needed anymore XD
robert.. North American gas prices: 6 month ago - $15.- per Mill BTU Today - $4.80 Oil prices: 6 month ago - $140.- per barrel Today - $35.- And many other raw materials similar price drop. So, Putin is trying to mislead everybody - have Ukraine pay the price of 6 month ago? EU has a contract which is based on 9 month prior cost of oil - their price will drop soon. But Putin is harping away on his illusionary price for Ukraine. Putin, wake up, it's not the old USSR.
Kobzatoronto, I do need to learn more. But I still don't understand. It's not as if Ukraine will rejoin Russia and Russia would never try to militarily conquer them so why not just let them prosper? I don't think China tried to destabilize Hong Kong and surely would love Taiwan to remain productive -- though a part of China.
Because the logic of kobzaretard is very exclusive. It's very simple to accuse other country in all problems of Ukraine. Their president ruined economy and his rating is 4%! But even after this he continue to provoke Russia, accusing us in THEIR problems, CREATED by THEIR government.
This is just a creating "enemy" outside, and trying to redirect responsibility of crushing country on others. All is very clearly.
Of course, independent. Today the situation is that Ushenko is US puppet, who replaced previous president by "Orange Revolution", sponsored by US.
We DON'T NEED SUCH UKRAINE, which is not only anti-Russian (gas conflict, cutting Russian language...), but also anti-Ukrainian (96% are against Ushenko, majority is against knocking in NATO).
Ukraine must be NEUTRAL. And realtions between Russia and Ukraine must be PRAGMATIC, based on RULES. And of course friendly, because we are brothers.
Why not just let Ukraine decide whether it wants to be neutral? Who is Russia to tell Ukraine what it should do or not? Let their people decide if they want NATO -- Russia should not interfere.
People decided - 75% don't want - by polls, And you are AGAIN wrong.
1) Russian position by this situation is that UKRAINE MUST MAKE REFERENDUM, WHERE PEOPLE WILL DECIDE. What's wrong with this? Again - you didn't know it, and because of it you again write BS.
2) NATO is MILITARY ALLIANCE. It can't change life of simple Ukrainian people. Their life will remain the same. What will you say if Mexico will become a member of military alliance, ruled by Russia? Double standarts of USA, yeah?
3) NATO is an instrument of Cold War era, created to press USSR. The opposite side was WARSAW PACT. USSR collapsed, but NATO remains and continue to extend on East to Russian borders, which is AGAINST INTERESTS of SAFETY. Why?
4) Main point of NATO is that if member of NATO will be under attack, then ALL members must involve in war. What if Georgia will be in NATO before august? Our world today, NOWADAYS, would be VERY different. World War could began BECAUSE OF ONE CRAZY SUKASHVILI, US PUPPET.
Who is USA to invade Iraq under false pretext of "weapon of mass destruction" and kill civillians and children?
Who is USA to bomb Pakistan villages without any resolution - in fact - AGAINST ALL INTERNATIONAL RULES?
Who is USA to sign aggreement of missile defence in Poland WITHOUT ANY ASKING of neigbour countries and Russia, which is situated IN AREA OF RADAR in Czech Republic (territory until Ural Mountains)? This is AGAINST RUSSIAN INTERESTS.
I am saying that Ukraine decides according to the rules of its constitution and laws. If its constitution and laws say there should be a referendum, then I agree with you. If those laws don't require a referendum, then I disagree with you. In US, the President and Senate can enter treaties -- no referendum is required. Democracy does not mean the people vote on every decision. Even in Switzerland there is voting by the politicians to decide some things.
AGAIN you are talking about things, which ABSOLUTELY DON'T KNOW.
This is MOST IMPORTANT THING:
1)Present Constitution of Ukraine doesn't allow it to become a member of ANY block, including NATO. It doesn't provide creation on territory of Ukraine bases of other states and blocks.
This is in PART 9 of "The declaration on the state sovereignty of Ukraine". The certificate of declaration of independence is based on this declaration.
KNOCKING UKRAINE IN NATO IS AGAINST THEIR CONSTITUTION!
Referendum can make a solution of this problem. BUT as we all know, majority (75%) is AGAISNT this decision. THAT is why Ukrainian government is afraid of referendum and try to illegaly knock in NATO. And THAT is why Russia is against it. Because neighbour country, ruling by US puppet, try to become a member of HUGE MILITARY ALLIANCE AGAINST CONSTITUTION and POPULATION DECISION.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH Russian position, AMERICAN? NOTHING is wrong.
Some arguments, SMART AMERICAN? Or again you will continue to blame Russia in ALL? The ignorance is just INCREEEEEEEEEEDIBLE. US propoganda made you crazy brainwashed idiots with phobias and stereotypes. And even facts CAN'T change this situation.
If again you will continue to blame Russia - I will say "fuck you" to you. Just know it and think twice before posting.
Your quote has nothing to do with referenda or treaties, but this does: Article 72
Article 72
An All-Ukrainian referendum is designated by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine or by the President of Ukraine, in accordance with their authority established by this Constitution.
An All-Ukrainian referendum is called on popular initiative on the request of no less than three million citizens of Ukraine who have the right to vote. Thus, if you are right about Ukrainian polls they could hold referendu
I see igorvasilevsky. You want to export your great Russian freedom of speech so you urge Kobzatoronto to unsubscribe? Can't take it when someone contradicts you?
LOL You don't know who is this kobzaretard. He trolling here a long time. We all already proved him all, but he continue to spread idiocracy. Facts are nothing for him.
Look, you are here, on RT channel only few days (1 or 2, I don't know). I have large experience, and remember nicks of those who constantly writing something, but after someone gave arguments and facts - he run away from direct questions. And it's EVERY TIME. How I must explain it? He is clealy troll and provocator, who can't accept facts.
I think, no. Ukraine's economic sutiation is one of the worst in Europe. IMF already gave them credit 16 bln $. + chaos in parliament, + fight between president and prime-minister and many more.
Do you assure that Black sea have natural gas? It must be found early, not in 2009.
Ukraine is producing a substantial quantity of their own gas.
Large exploration is underway in the Ukrainian shelf of the Black/Asow Sea with potentially substantial gas fields.
If this will turn out to be true, it could undermine the Russian gas export in the future.
What doesn't make sence, is that Russia is willing to lose $150 mill. per day now because of some minor dispute with Ukrainian shippers - the technical gas for the turbines.
Kobzatoronto, you said earlier that Putin wants to destabilize the political situation in Ukraine. But why would he want that? Doesn't everyone want a stable and healthy neighbor? It seems to me to be counterproductive to Russia's overall prosperity to undermine Ukraine. For example, a healthy Ukraine, means a good market for Russian goods and services no?
You have to read up on Ukraine's history vis-a-vis Russia.
Russia tried to subjugate, .... reduce.. Ukraine to a status of a province etc.
Many leaders in Russia still feel that Ukraine is not an independent entity (or they didn't accept it yet totally). With Ukraine being democratic but pretty unstable politically, Moscow tries to influnce activities in Ukriane covert and overt, such that it would benefit their sumpatizers in Ukraine.
There seems to be a genuine dispute between the 2 sides:
The U side claims that in the past they received free gas for shipping the gas through their pipe system - to fire the turbines - R disagrees - calls it stealing.
Their is no contract now. If the U side will use R gas for shipping, paying for it with high prices, they will lose money?
In the past the Russian - Ukrainian agreements balanced all elements out.
As well Russia would like to take control of U piping system.
Claiming something does not make it a fact. All transit countries pay for operating transit systems (that includes operating gas) and get compensated through transit fees and Russia has a transit contract with Ukraine valid through 2010. It is Ukraine that has violated that contract and now using its position as a transit country to blackmail Russia into providing it 'technical' gas for free.
The main reason for Russia's present screw-up with deliveries of gas to Europe is political.
Russia does not care how much money they loose in this dispute as long as they can, in their opinion, create turmoil, problem's in the Ukrainian political leadership - hoping, that their reps-buddies in Ukraine get a chance to gain public support.
Putin is nothing but a liar. The agreement with Ukraine was that the transit cost will be kept low as long as the gas price will be gradually increased to market rates. Russia is breaking this agreement by asking market prices now. (Oil at $35.- today, what should be the gas price?)
Putin's real goal at the moment is to influence the political landscape in Ukriane -to creat turmoil during the present world economic crises.
nonsense. Russia offered extremely favorable terms for gas of almost half of what the rest of europian countries pay. $250 and Ukrainians walked away from talks. Russia's current offer is to double transit fees it pays to Ukraine to European level of $3.4/km, but it is no longer offering a discount on gas to Ukraine and is asking the same price it charges others in Europe $450.
Russia is only asking a MARKET price for it's product. The price is determined by the same formula that is used elsewhere in Europe and it is tied to oil prices, so yes due to drop in oil prices gas prices should and will drop to a number determined by the FORMULA. Currently most European countries pay between 450 and 500.
The price is determined by the contract you agree to and sign.
You signed a contract in the past - the next client sits down today and discusses a contract of today - naturally based on all elements (supply, price, shipping cost etc.)impacting on todays contract.
Russia is trying to squeeze Ukriane economically and politically and along the way try to buy - take over the ukrainian piping system etc. Good luck Putin.
I already gave him all facts. He refuse to accept it and constantly write bullshit without proofs. He is just a troll and I HAVE right to call him a "retard" because of his ignorance.
kobza you are full of it. your endless and baseless accusations are getting old. market price means market price. you buy at the price a seller is offering or you go somewhere else. you can't - well tough luck, that is YOUR problem.
Is Putin afraid of saying who he thinks are those who do not want to see Russia and Europe working together? No, he wants to be appear clever and aristocratic. "We don't need to name America, it is beneath us." And what if basis for that statement? He must be smoking crack. The more Russia works with a democratic, free Europe, the more Russians will recognize the stifling nature of their own government. So please walk hand in hand with the European leaders Mr. Putin and learn from them.
you are smoking crack. and Puting is perfectly correct when he is pointing out disinformation campaign and Russofobia that is intentionally being spread in the west by some 'interested' parties.
and they did, also urging consumers to do the same. In time, it will be very clear who to blame. But, as usual, western media has achieved the first (negative) impression as with Georgia.
Siemens, Germany has recently shipped €600-million worth of high-speed trains for the St Petersburg route, so infrastructure investment is occurring. PM. Putin's explanation about the ongoing EU gas dispute makes good sense. However, it might have been more effective and created no animosity towards Russia, had Russia taken its dispute with Ukraine directly to the International Court of Arbitration in Stockholm, and not simply halted gas transportation through Ukraine.
Russia did file a case in Arbitration Court and it was Ukraine, not Russia, who halted gas transit to Europe. Of course you would not know it from western media.
Depends who you listen to. If you beleive what many western msm reported then yes it was Russia and it ALWAYS is Russian fault, no matter what happens. (South Osetian war perfect example), but if you look closely and listen to experts actually involved with this crisis who are at least neuteral in their reporting you will know that Russia stoped pumping gas into Ukraine only after Eukraine stopped transit to Europe.
My recollection is that Russia accused Ukraine of 'stealing' gas and cut the supply. EU intervention succeeded in gaining a new agreement including monitors on all ends and sides of the transit route. Russia resumed supply via an unusual easterly route which would have meant that Ukraine--according to Ukraine--would have necessitated Ukraine cutting off Ukraine's eastern region in order to supply the EU, so--according to Russia--Ukraine halted transit to the EU.
Your recollection is missing crucial details. Russia did cut supplies to Ukraine - by the amount allegedly stolen by Ukraine from supplies transited to Europe. When Ukraine stopped all transit to Europe, Russia stopped all supplies to Ukraine.
Russia & Ukraine dispute whatever series of events is made public, so they should have referred their dispute/s to Stockholm, and refrained from cutting off gas to the EU. That said, I will concede that the EU are no angels, to the extent that they are busily legislating against property rights, making the quality of their contracts suspect, while Russia--on the face of it--is moving towards property rights & contracts, with an expectation of the contracts' value, as per PM. Putin's arguments.
yes, the west especially bushmen in US always remember his KGB past. and you know why? because he's a man, he's a man of Russia, he's a strong leader of the country. all bushmen just can not forgive that, they are spitful because instead of eltzin's band who helped them to rob russia they have to deal with a real patriot of Russia. they will have to get used to that.
ARD censored an earlier interview with Putin in German TV. They blatantly edited anything out that made Russia look good or showed any sign of good intentions towards Europe. Those slick bastards surely will do it again, so thanks for uploading this Russia Today. I hope there will be an uncut version available.
Uncensored ARD interview can be found in my August uploads, it has appeared right away and caused wide discussions in the German society. As a result, Thomas Roth had to show the full version (though at 6 a.m.) and to give a lot of explanations on different levels...

Kobzatoronto 3 years ago
nonsense. Russia offered extremely favorable terms for gas of almost half of what the rest of europian countries pay. $250 and Ukrainians walked away from talks. Russia's current offer is to double transit fees it pays to Ukraine to European level of $3.4/km, but it is no longer offering a discount on gas to Ukraine and is asking the same price it charges others in Europe $450.
slavixtube 3 years ago
slavi.
EU is paying Russia for gas based on contract:
Cost of gas is tied to oil cost 9 month earlier.
Ukraine does not have a contract with Gazprom.
They discuss contract at today's prices.
Oil came down in last 7 month from $140.- per barrel to today $35.- So energy prices came down substantially - what should the price of gas be today?
EU will pay for gas in 3 month $200.-??
Ukraine - Russia have agreement that Ukraine's gas cost will go up gradually to market prices in 3 years.
Kobzatoronto 3 years ago
Russia is only asking a MARKET price for it's product. The price is determined by the same formula that is used elsewhere in Europe and it is tied to oil prices, so yes due to drop in oil prices gas prices should and will drop to a number determined by the FORMULA. Currently most European countries pay between 450 and 500.
slavixtube 3 years ago
slavik..
Putin is asking for market prices.
Todays market price of Oil is $35.- per barrel. It was $140.- 6 month ago.
Since EU pays for gas per oil cost 9 month earlier - what is the gas price today? 1/4 of gas cost of 6 month ago?
Get your calculator out - but than your job is what? - just to fool the readers?
Kobzatoronto 3 years ago
From where do you get the idea that Russia sets the price for gas? Is Russia the only one that sells gas to Europe?
Lol...you fucking Russia haters seem to have this source of endless bullshit information.
robertico420 3 years ago
How many times do you have to be told that price is determined by the SAME FORMULA used elsewhere in Europe. It is not arbitrarily set by Russia.
slavixtube 3 years ago
slavix..

Did Fox/CNN show SOMETHING about today's Moscow Gas Summit? At least ONE SECOND?
Did it show press-conference after it?
Did it show meeting of Gasprom company?
Did it show SOMETHING about new "gas consortium"?
And then ASK YOURSELF: Do americans have OBJECTIVE information about news in other countries?
And why americans have right to BLAME, ACCUSE others? It's like 3-years kids talking about quantum theory...

Putin and learn from them.
mattlewis66 3 years ago
you are smoking crack. and Puting is perfectly correct when he is pointing out disinformation campaign and Russofobia that is intentionally being spread in the west by some 'interested' parties.
slavixtube 3 years ago 2
and they did, also urging consumers to do the same.

However, it might have been more effective and created no animosity towards Russia, had Russia taken its dispute with Ukraine directly to the International Court of Arbitration in Stockholm, and not simply halted gas transportation through Ukraine.
charlessmyth 3 years ago
fyi,
Russia did file a case in Arbitration Court and it was Ukraine, not Russia, who halted gas transit to Europe. Of course you would not know it from western media.

Russia stopped the flow of gas.
Kobzatoronto 3 years ago
Depends who you listen to. If you beleive what many western msm reported then yes it was Russia and it ALWAYS is Russian fault, no matter what happens. (South Osetian war perfect example), but if you look closely and listen to experts actually involved with this crisis who are at least neuteral in their reporting you will know that Russia stoped pumping gas into Ukraine only after Eukraine stopped transit to Europe.
slavixtube 3 years ago 2
My recollection is that Russia accused Ukraine of 'stealing' gas and cut the supply. EU intervention succeeded in gaining a new agreement including monitors on all ends and sides of the transit route. Russia resumed supply via an unusual easterly route which would have meant that Ukraine--according to Ukraine--would have necessitated Ukraine cutting off Ukraine's eastern region in order to supply the EU, so--according to Russia--Ukraine halted transit to the EU.
charlessmyth 3 years ago
Your recollection is missing crucial details. Russia did cut supplies to Ukraine - by the amount allegedly stolen by Ukraine from supplies transited to Europe. When Ukraine stopped all transit to Europe, Russia stopped all supplies to Ukraine.
slavixtube 3 years ago
Russia & Ukraine dispute whatever series of events is made public, so they should have referred their dispute/s to Stockholm, and refrained from cutting off gas to the EU. That said, I will concede that the EU are no angels, to the extent that they are busily legislating against property rights, making the quality of their contracts suspect, while Russia--on the face of it--is moving towards property rights & contracts, with an expectation of the contracts' value, as per PM. Putin's arguments.
