hi, i used to have a nikon d3100 that was hd, but now its broken, so i have to use this camera that i had before. So my question is, do you know how to get a better quality? i have premiere and final cut. I see your video is really nice but mine don´t! thanks

I am amazed at the quality of the video, 2 thumbs up! I know HD is supposed to be better, it is amazing that an improvement can be made on the Standard video from the FS200. I am looking at this camcorder because it has an external mic & headphone jacks; it seems on other models this feature is nonexistant. This is important if you are doing video where you want good sound from the subject and reduced sound from the environment. The other is ability to monitor sound quality

Great, fantastic video!!!! Recently, I bought the Canon Legria HF M31 (HD) and I tell you, I could'nt be happier with it.

If you want quality, Canon is a sure shot.

dude, i wanna know your opinion, of getting kodak zi8 or canon fs200. i know they are quiet different situation, but what if this option given to you, what would you choose?

@danielyen man you really have to way up your options zoom or no zoom HD or no HD. I have a kodak playsport and this canon fs200 it really depends on what you need it for. thats why i got both

@JJSFREETIME hi, it's a light small camera so it feels pretty comfy when holding it also the maximum sdhc card size is 16gb which is just over 3hrs of footage :)

@skeddyo yes I know that I can rip it... One more question. How do you download the video from the camera on the PC? I am recording in 16:9 and I use "ImageMixer 3" (which was on the camera's CD). When I click on "Save files to PC" I download the clips on my PC but the resolution is not 16:9? Only when I click on "Browsing and authoring" I can see the clips in 16:9... Do you have the same problem or do you simply drag the clips on your PC?

Thanx so much for the program. I had a problem with the CANON FS20, getting it to be widescreen when i put it into Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro. But this solved it.

Just convert the video files from the card through the program and it worked fine.

There is still one small black edge up and down, not much but what is the perfect resolution? I use 512x288

@SvenskFolkgemenskap hi, yeah that program is a cool tool. my resolution size for canon fs200 is 1024 wide x 576 high. that is the standard definition pal size. not sure if urs is pal or ntsc

@FraudeFilms hey thanks, no this cam does not do HD video only standard def. if you don't need an optical zoom the kodak Zi8 seems to do decent 1080p video i think its under 200 euros, tho if you need a optical zoom not going to be many HD cams for that price, try looking on ebay :)

hey the audio is ok from the on board mic, not the best but ok. tho you can plug in an external mic for better audio. you can watch my external mic test video if you'd like to hear the difference, you can find it on my channel or in the related videos to the right of this vid.

hey starthi, i use adobe premiere pro to edit with. to make youtube recognise it as 16:9 i make a custom project size for 1024 width x 576 hieght (actual pal wide screen frame size) then i render the video in a H.264 mp4 encoding which is the best encoding for youtube. (which may have something to do with the pix elated dots)
