You're on the Internet and you can't find information on your TEC-9? hahaha.. Honestly. Try google. Anyway, that's an original US-made TEC-9 from 1985-1990. A TEC-DC9 was just a "California" variant that was harder to modify to full-automatic. DC9s were made from 1990-1994 when they were banned in the US. That since has expired, which is why you were able to buy one.
@LRASS2009 just cause some crazy fucken emo kids used it to kill students does't make this gun bad just shows people kill people the drug cartels use american made M-16's and AR-15's so come on with Gun stereotyping!
not an AB-10 model cuz it has the threaded barrel. maybe it is a real tec..im no expert but i would say value is $400+.. BTW nice gun or tool however you interpret firearms.
That's just a mini version. Threaded barrel with the sloping shoulder proving a post ban wasn't converted to threading and lack of shroud.... yup, this is just a "tec-9 mini" or possibly a "DC-9 mini"... the difference between the tec-9 and the dc-9 are solely name change to comply with the "named" guns that were banned in 89 I think... so yes, this is NOT a post ban. it is simply the smaller version which had no shroud.
It is a real tec-9 they.do have a problem with jamming and the firing pin do wear out they was made from the early 80's.to.94. Also the.can be.converted to full auto and was used in gang and school shootings very east to break down and clean also the.parts can be.hard or expinsive
use a ruger 36 round magazine. learn to take them apart keep em oiled, and pull the springs out every now and then. Never use ANYTHING other then STANDARD full metal jacket 9mm parabelem. you can also rarely find a 72 round drum for them. and a really cool extra front foregrip. keep spare AFTERMARKET nickel firing pins just in case. ive had mine for years n no broblem. just basic parts like recoil springs

The Intratec Tec-9 was renamed to the Tec-DC9 in about 1989 when the city of Washington DC made the manufacturers of certain guns Including the Tec-9 liable for injuries caused by them. The Tec-DC9 was the full-sized variant with the permanently attached barrel shroud and the Tec-DC9M (Tec-9 mini) like the one you have had the 3/4-10 threaded barrel. It is NOT an AB-10. The AB-10 was introduced in '94, without a threaded barrel and a 10 round magazine, in compliance with the assault weapons ban
Intertec made the tec 9 from 1985-1994 it's not worth shit becase ur bolt doesn't lock back between shots. if u find one of those let me know I have cash and a dealer to send it too. Urs will never be worth shit they made millon'sss of those.
Looks almost exactly like mine. But mine has a slightly different barrel. No grooves to screw on the flash suppressor. Still have the case and everything.
What you have is a variant of the infamous TEC-9. Your model is known as an AB-10 and it is a TEC-9. The AB-10 is a smaller version of the DC-9 , primarily due the the shorter barrel and the lack of a heat shroud. Your barrel is approximately 2 inches shorter then the DC-9 version. The TEC-9's have a bad reputation for "jamming". The "jamming" issue is caused by the operators lack of knowledge. To properly prevent the "jamming" you need to use a hotter round and a descent magazine.
Well lets start off like this, Intratec the company that made them first made them in 1985, soon went out of business in 1994 after many lawsuits from californian legislature trying to make Intratec responsible for the people killed by Tec 9's during the 101 street shootings. the Supreme Court defended Intratec and said they are not liable, as a result of the 1994 assault weapons ban, Intratec went out of business. It was then seen used in the Columbine massacre. goddamn californians.
I've heard that federals don't really jam at all in these...but you know, no single gun is the same as another, like my Walther P22, 2 dollar shells work better than 10 dollar shells...where those 10 dollar shells work better in someone Else's P22, you just gotta test around with different ammo until you find the kind that doesn't jam.
Seriously calm down yeah the tec 9 was used in columbine but that doesn't mean that it is a bad gun. As I say guns don't kill people, idiot morons with guns kill people. Guns cannot pick themselves up, aim, and fire themselves.
Ill give you a stack right now for that. You Have No Idea What You Got There. Lmao!! Butttt i'd rather stick to my lil 25's.. easy to conceal and run with.. yah feel me haha
the tec 9-- basics-- (if you want more info send me a private message or something
your threaded barrel is a good thing-- it's pre ban, which was put into effect in 94 (look it up). yes, it was used in columbine, which helped give it a bad reputation. considering the ban and sudden terrible image of many guns like this, intratec went out of business. for technical info, you can see the manual online (search it-youtube won't let me put a link here)
@MyDoominateR Oh, okay, then here's an idea: since it's already been said so many times, and there are no other reasons anybody would give a shit about it, how about everybody just shuts the hell up and moves on?
i have the tec ab 10 it is very similar to it but dont have a threaded berral and cant be converted to full auto it the tec 9 was a fav gun for gangs due to it ease to be converted to full auto it was made from the late 80s to 94 and with ban the company made the tec ab 10 a b stood for after ban 2 problems always arise jamming and the fireing pin wearing down but still a very scary gun to bust out at the gun range to show ur buds

yes it is a real tec nine. its stamped from intratec and chambered for a 9x19 luger or parabellum, same thing. parabellum is derived from "if you wish for peace, prepare for war" luger is the last name of the man that developed the rounds. if it is blowback opperated and fires from a closed bolt id say you got urself the real deal buddy. great find!!!!
Im no gun expert, But who did you buy it from? It looks Pre-ban to me. In the mid 90's we were shooting those and that thing looks Identical. I'm sure your state is fine-you sound southern. But did you get it at the shop or from "uncle ray" ? it may be one of the Originals from the 80's witch I think is fantastic. Like I said, I'm no expert. but that may be why you cant get any info on it. Nice gun man. who cares they jam up, really nice gun.
@calebbfreestyle It was all a legit sale with serial numbers etc. I made this video a good while ago and have learned alot about it. This is a mid 80s closed bolt model. Thanks for the comment
Goindeff did you get the info your looking for on this gun? If not shoot me a pm I have a friend who is pretty good a IDing a gun well two guys that are good at it. I always find an odd gun out there and email these two guys and I get answers fast. Great looking gun.
That depends on what you mean by "real". If you're asking if your gun is the original KG-9 that was easy to convert to FA, then no, it is not. Some history: Intratec was born from the Swedish owned company Interdynamic USA, which produced the original KG-9. The company became Intratec in about 1984, and then the KG-99 design was renamed the Tec-9 by one of Intratec's founders, Carlos Garcia. The models officially known as the "Tec-9" were produced until 1987.
yes it is a real tec 9..i used to own one and it looks in every way just like yours, and mine was a pre ban model..."miami florida, tec 9" and all...and if it really is unfired thats really good because they stoped makeing them awile ago..can i ask how much you got it for? and what capacity that mag is...and can you tell me if there is plastic on the left side of the magazine well? tell me these things and i can tell you alot about the gun.
they do jam if the wrong ammo is used, and you cant hit shit with them but thats not what there for.Mine dosent have the threaded barrel but thats what you have there,a tec-9.And yes they were modeled after the old grease gun design.
i didnt even know what a tec9 was until i watched the two kids fuck up colombine the tec9 is fucking awsome thats pretty much the only reason why im getting one in 2 days the guy at the gun store looked at me funny cause i brought my 16yo cuz with me and i said im buying it for him lol
I'm pretty sure you're correct. the model you have is called a DC-9. if the Barrell had been unthreaded it would have been called a AB-10. Your's is the same model as the one used by Dylan Klebold at Columbine.
That is what they called the K gun TEC-9K, the regular TEC-9 had a little longer barrel and a short barrel shroud, it was still threaded to take the extension they also made both buns in a silver color and marketed them under the description TEC-KOTE the one you have is a much rarer but it can be found after the 1994 AWB all of the Intraec guns became the AB-10 which was EXACTLY like your gun without the threaded barrel , the TEC-DC9 was just a rename to get around a KALI ban by name before 94
Those originally retailed for $200. Since they are no longer made it is a collector's piece and the value can be largely debated. I bought a TEC-DC9 in original box and supposedly unfired for $350 about a year ago. Considering how much these jam I should have just left it in the box and sold it for more. Oh well. I will admit they are fun when you can actually shoot an entire mag without a jam. Using factory mags , keeping your gun clean and only using 115gr FMJs can reduce jams to a minimum.
I dont know, i may be wrong, but i think they are in MI at least. Thats what ive heard anyways. Nice gun, though. Was looking at a Thompson, but theyre way too expensive.
That looks more like an AB-10 than a tec 9. I think the actual Tec 9 had an integral barrel shroud in addition to a detachable barrel shroud. Even though it's pretty sweet looking, I know of several major drawbacks that have kept me from seriously considering it - it weighs a lot, has poor accuracy, and the firing pins on it tend to break. It can hold 30 rounds, but then again so can certain glock models. So yeah, no real point to this gun in my mind unless you wanna look gangsta.
They were never "illegal". You could still buy pre-ban versions of the original tec when the ban was in effect, you just couldnt own any post-ban 10+ round magazines. The bans simply caused the manufacturer Navegar to create the DC9 and AB(after ban) models, which easily went around the idiotic restrictions in the bill like banning guns by name and possession of a barrel shroud (lol). I'm not sure what happened after that, but I think they went out of business (or were sued out of business).
I know you said no more comments but I actually have the exact same one. Not rare, just difficult to find.
Lord Baillal 666? is probably the most knowledgable to ask.
You say it's unfired? Pop the pins out and look to see if there is some sort of a Cosmoline coating. Thanks, I've always wondered what the stock suppressor looked like, mine was MIA when i bought it.
are you being a dick? because he bought a gun that was used in a shooting? so since i hunt and i ahve a 20 gauge and those have been used to kill people im bad? hhmmm never new. fag
that is the original tec 9 it is one of 19 guns banned by name in the states in 94' it was designed to be a military sidearm but was rejected by the goverment so it was sold as a inexpensive civilian sub machine gun there are three models tec-9 banned in 94 the 2nd model tech-dc9 banned in 99 then the ab-10 ab standing for after banned and was later banned in 2000 intratec went out of business in 01' they are badass pretty rare now and day and a felony in all states
there is no history behind the tec-9 look up its history all ur gunna find is the muder rate, and criminal use from 89-94 91-93 being the highest used in drive-bys, gang shootings, mass murders, home invations, etc. u wanted a piece of history u need to find an orignal thompson 45acp semi, or a late 70s M.A.C 10 9mm open bolt. they say value on a tec will go up but how much do u think?? since 89 they only went up 200bucks trust me theres way to many in the us for them to be extinct!!
lol wow dude, the AB-10 doesnt have a threaded barrel, and why would an AB-10 have "TEC-9" stamped on it....also, if you know your gun facts, the only reason why the AB-10 was made was because of the 1994 "Assault Weapons" ban, AB-After Ban, the ban list included pistols with threaded barrels that could attach flash supressors, so that is not the AB-10, that is the TEC-9M............M-Mini
ARE ANY OF YALL WATCHING THE VIDEO! HAHA I know the things a POS. That is not why I took it over. It has a long and well known history. Its a peice of firearm history. But thanks for watching.
Intratec had no quality control some people have them for years without problems but most people have serious failures with the firearm. The plastic frame cracks, the thing jams or double feeds, the round might fire before it is chambered also while you are shooting it the pistol might start disassembling itself in your hands. Get ride of it, get ride of it, before it fails and you get hurt. There is a reason Intratec is not around anymore. Intratec. when price is an issue and quality isn't
the Tec 9 is a piece of shit. If you value your life then you will get rid of the thing. I have disassmbled one and the poor quality of the construction and the materials scares the shit out of me. Intratec has a well earned notorious reputation for being pieces of shit. The plastic frame is not hardened like a polymer it is like GI Joe plastic. What ever you paid for it you paid too much.
Hey man, The one you have is worth more than any of the other Intratec models, yours is the original pre-ban, after a little awhile they released the Intratec AB-10, because they were having problems with people illegaly converting them to fully automatics, so they released the AB-10 to be convert-proof.
a convict in prison was able to make a one shot [the round would have to be manually ejected and chambered] tec-9 [it was capable of firing bullets] from pipes and things you'd find in a prison.
You're on the Internet and you can't find information on your TEC-9? hahaha.. Honestly. Try google. Anyway, that's an original US-made TEC-9 from 1985-1990. I thought those were banned in the U.S.
guiltybystander77 1 year ago
@guiltybystander77 Not if it was already made, they cant ban guns, only from being made in the country or imported.
Breakneckhydra1 1 year ago
Huh. I would have thought a ban would include seizure of registered weapons too. Whatever.
guiltybystander77 1 year ago
@guiltybystander77 BANS ONLY STOP THEM FROM BEING MADE OR IMPORTED, IT DOES NOT AFFECT THOSE ALREADY IN CIRCULATION
ajaanubis1 1 year ago
That depends on what you mean by "real". If you're asking if your gun is the original KG-9 that was easy to convert to FA, then no, it is not. Some history: Intratec was born from the Swedish owned company Interdynamic USA, which produced the original KG-9. The company became Intratec in about 1984, and then the KG-99 design was renamed the Tec-9 by one of Intratec's founders, Carlos Garcia. The models officially known as the "Tec-9" were produced until 1987.
MrShotgunjim 1 year ago
yes it is a real tec 9..i used to own one and it looks in every way just like yours, and mine was a pre ban model..."miami florida, tec 9" and all...and if it really is unfired thats really good because they stoped makeing them awile ago..can i ask how much you got it for? and what capacity that mag is...and can you tell me if there is plastic on the left side of the magazine well? tell me these things and i can tell you alot about the gun.

they do jam if the wrong ammo is used, and you cant hit shit with them but thats not what there for.Mine dosent have the threaded barrel but thats what you have there,a tec-9.And yes they were modeled after the old grease gun design.
chillywilly9707 1 year ago

newmanjon90 1 year ago
I'm pretty sure you're correct. the model you have is called a DC-9. if the Barrell had been unthreaded it would have been called a AB-10. Your's is the same model as the one used by Dylan Klebold at Columbine.
lst1195 1 year ago
That is what they called the K gun TEC-9K, the regular TEC-9 had a little longer barrel and a short barrel shroud, it was still threaded to take the extension they also made both buns in a silver color and marketed them under the description TEC-KOTE the one you have is a much rarer but it can be found after the 1994 AWB all of the Intraec guns became the AB-10 which was EXACTLY like your gun without the threaded barrel , the TEC-DC9 was just a rename to get around a KALI ban by name before 94

i got one to man and looking for info to if any of yall kno something let me kno on yahoo my email is
marco_cuzz94@yahoo.com and i am seeling for 450
MrMike1016 1 year ago
Those originally retailed for $200. Since they are no longer made it is a collector's piece and the value can be largely debated. I bought a TEC-DC9 in original box and supposedly unfired for $350 about a year ago. Considering how much these jam I should have just left it in the box and sold it for more. Oh well. I will admit they are fun when you can actually shoot an entire mag without a jam. Using factory mags , keeping your gun clean and only using 115gr FMJs can reduce jams to a minimum.

Arent flash suppressors and threaded barrels illegal for civilian use?
santaslayer22 1 year ago
@santaslayer22 Actually no there legal, since the assult weapons ban exspired.

yes it's a real tec 9 because it has the threaded barrel AB-10 is After Ban 10 with out the threads and yours is fully auto
01cassinova 2 years ago
Not full auto. Both pre and post, not during ban tec 9s have threaded barrels.
30BulletHoles 2 years ago
From what i know an actual Tec-9 was a 1 time run from Intertec after Interdynamic changed it's name.
Demfcane 2 years ago
That looks more like an AB-10 than a tec 9. I think the actual Tec 9 had an integral barrel shroud in addition to a detachable barrel shroud. Even though it's pretty sweet looking, I know of several major drawbacks that have kept me from seriously considering it - it weighs a lot, has poor accuracy, and the firing pins on it tend to break. It can hold 30 rounds, but then again so can certain glock models. So yeah, no real point to this gun in my mind unless you wanna look gangsta.

Wait, so these aren't illegal anymore?
tributetolost 2 years ago
yup since I beleave September 13, 2004 when the ban was lifted. But I may be wrong.
Goindeff 2 years ago
They were never "illegal". You could still buy pre-ban versions of the original tec when the ban was in effect, you just couldnt own any post-ban 10+ round magazines. The bans simply caused the manufacturer Navegar to create the DC9 and AB(after ban) models, which easily went around the idiotic restrictions in the bill like banning guns by name and possession of a barrel shroud (lol). I'm not sure what happened after that, but I think they went out of business (or were sued out of business).
gurthang112 2 years ago
I know you said no more comments but I actually have the exact same one. Not rare, just difficult to find.
Lord Baillal 666? is probably the most knowledgable to ask.
You say it's unfired? Pop the pins out and look to see if there is some sort of a Cosmoline coating. Thanks, I've always wondered what the stock suppressor looked like, mine was MIA when i bought it.
N2thedrink 2 years ago
Yeah its got cosmoline inside. And yeah it was all there when i traded for it. Love the gun weither its crap or not. Fun stuff. thanks for watching

I wouldn't say it's half Swedish. But it borrows a lot from the Swedish K, if that's what you mean...
pvsoren 2 years ago
Yes something like that.
But wikipedia actually says:
Place of origin: Sweden, United States
Anyway the gun is awesome!

nolanb123456 2 years ago
that is the original tec 9 it is one of 19 guns banned by name in the states in 94' it was designed to be a military sidearm but was rejected by the goverment so it was sold as a inexpensive civilian sub machine gun there are three models tec-9 banned in 94 the 2nd model tech-dc9 banned in 99 then the ab-10 ab standing for after banned and was later banned in 2000 intratec went out of business in 01' they are badass pretty rare now and day and a felony in all states

So they're perfectly legal.

983405 2 years ago
there is no history behind the tec-9 look up its history all ur gunna find is the muder rate, and criminal use from 89-94 91-93 being the highest used in drive-bys, gang shootings, mass murders, home invations, etc. u wanted a piece of history u need to find an orignal thompson 45acp semi, or a late 70s M.A.C 10 9mm open bolt. they say value on a tec will go up but how much do u think?? since 89 they only went up 200bucks trust me theres way to many in the us for them to be extinct!!
GunRunna47 2 years ago
.....and that was part of the history haha. I like it. Its cool looking and I paid nothing for an unfired Tec-9m. Thanks for watching
Goindeff 2 years ago
how much did you buy it for
moses4607 2 years ago
Well I didnt buy it. I sold and Century Arms AR-15 for cash and the TEC. Trust me I came out on top

ab-10
SumthinProductions 2 years ago
lol wow dude, the AB-10 doesnt have a threaded barrel, and why would an AB-10 have "TEC-9" stamped on it....also, if you know your gun facts, the only reason why the AB-10 was made was because of the 1994 "Assault Weapons" ban, AB-After Ban, the ban list included pistols with threaded barrels that could attach flash supressors, so that is not the AB-10, that is the TEC-9M............M-Mini

ARE ANY OF YALL WATCHING THE VIDEO! HAHA I know the things a POS. That is not why I took it over. It has a long and well known history. Its a peice of firearm history. But thanks for watching.
Goindeff 2 years ago
Intratec had no quality control some people have them for years without problems but most people have serious failures with the firearm. The plastic frame cracks, the thing jams or double feeds, the round might fire before it is chambered also while you are shooting it the pistol might start disassembling itself in your hands. Get ride of it, get ride of it, before it fails and you get hurt. There is a reason Intratec is not around anymore. Intratec. when price is an issue and quality isn't
rummer38 2 years ago
Thanks for watching. But I dont plan on fireing the gun ever. Its in an unfired condition. Thanks again
Goindeff 2 years ago
the Tec 9 is a piece of shit. What ever you paid for it you paid too much.
rummer38 2 years ago
dude i have a case to the original guy bought it on 9/8/94 5 days b4 the awb its a cool gun but its only cool thts the problem
mmlunchbox92 2 years ago
Its a Chunky ass tec 9 AKA. A gang Tec 9
MyWoWadventures 2 years ago
Hey man, The one you have is worth more than any of the other Intratec models, yours is the original pre-ban, after a little awhile they released the Intratec AB-10, because they were having problems with people illegaly converting them to fully automatics, so they released the AB-10 to be convert-proof.

I have one . mine jams alot. what is the best ammo to use?
manbeer11 2 years ago
The manual states 9mm Luger/parabellum, full metal jacket bullets:
Federal / Federal "American Eagle" / Winchester / Remington / Samson / Norma / Fiocchi
Please....NEVER use re-loaded ammunition!

i believe that the TEC-9's with the treaded barrel is called the TEC-9 Mini
AK47vsAK74 2 years ago
i do know one lil piece of history on the tec-9,
a convict in prison was able to make a one shot [the round would have to be manually ejected and chambered] tec-9 [it was capable of firing bullets] from pipes and things you'd find in a prison.
thats about all i know.
