Hello wow that sound is amazing, im gonna buy one set of northumbrian soon, in which key is that chanter, the pitch is perfect so im gonna ask for the same one...
@SavGaEckmann Thanks for your kind words. All the info you asked for can be seen in the rest of the comments on this page. Key etc. Maker is Colin Ross of Northumberland. The pipes are made of antique ivory.
Beautiful, really nicely played. What are the differences in timbre between these pipes and the Uilleann Pipes do you know? It sounds like the drones are pitched in G, is that the overall pitch of this particular set?
The Northumbrian pipes are quite different from the Irish pipes. The only similarity is that they are bellows blown.
The traditional pitch of the Northumbrian pipes is normally just a few cents sharp of F♯. Although you can get them in 'D' and 'G' . It is possible to play in other keys by adjusting the drones to play different notes. ( You can lengthen or shorten the drones.)
It stirs the blood marra and the hairs on the back of me neck might niver come back doon. Give yourself a pat on the back bonnie lad, from Ross of Bedlington.
i know they make unkeyed northumbrian chanters now. are these keyed or unkeayed

If I close my eyes I can see Lindisfarne in my minds eye when I hear you play this tune. Northumbria, God's chosen home.

What a great tune! Most NSP tunes are a bit bright and bubbly for my tastes, but this is a great sweeping dark tune on your pipes!
