I honestly feel that Aretha has one of the most honest voices I have ever heard, in that you could listen to her for hours, without any accompaniments and voice doctoring. Her vocal interpretation of this songs sentiment is just flawless.

The song I spoke of, is sung by the girls as they gather in the house, and I am certain it is not on the soundtrack. If you watch the film again in the next few years, you'll probably hear the song I am speaking about, but thanks all the same.

I was privileged to see Aretha live about 15 years ago and I have been to many concerts and seen many singers but I have never heard a voice quite like Retha! That woman rocked my soul. I don't know that her voice is in as great a shape now as it was then but if you ever get the chance to see her live please do so. The recorded music just doesn't compare.

i love this song. this is a true song. i remember the movie ans think about the scene this song was playing and i definately can relate. it definately hurts when you put your all into something and nothing but negativity comes from it. but being the strong woman i am, i hold on and just stand strong because i know it only gets better.

I was privileged to see Aretha live about 15 years ago and I have been to many concerts and seen many singers but I have never heard a voice quite like Retha! That woman rocked my soul. I don't know that her voice is in as great a shape now as it was then but if you ever get the chance to see her live please do so. The recorded music just doesn't compare.

i lost my mom in 2009 and it hurt like hell that i never got bond with her like a mother and daugter should....cherish ur loves ones mom,sisters,bothers,etc cause u never kno when their time is near and u will regret it that u never got to show them or better yet tell them how much u love them or how much u needed them but im glad she is in a better place
