@EmperorOfMars hehe, ya... Or we could just put a giant dome up there ><.
@nexthoudini Lets put it like this. In MY eyes, I'd say if you get within 100 yards of any footprint up there it will be too close. I was serious that you should bother Apollo 12 or something. I seriously think Apollo 11 needs to be absolutely 100% preserved as naturally as possible, then when the price tag of erecting such a building isn't insane, a protective dome with viewing area be installed for further protection.
Please, Please, Please don't go too close to the Apollo 11 site. I don't know about anybody else, but I was hoping in the future for it to be turned into a museum with every thing as it was as Buzz & Neil left it. Leaving your rover tracks all over the area would ruin that pretty readily.
This is a massively important historical site for all mankind. Keep your rover away from it. Go play around at Apollo 17 or something.
I understand the solar wind streams out huge amounts of hydrogen gas. The lunar soils also contains a huge amount of oxygen. Why not burn hydrogen/oxygen during the lunar night to create electricity? The water vapor left over could be stored as ice for future human expeditions.
@wrcousert There are a lot of unknowns in that idea. While it may be feasible in the future, the goal is to guarantee that the rover will survive a lunar night. Your thought is kind of like going to the Antarctic with no jacket, hoping to find some seal skin to protect you...
Hi, this is the God of Humanoid Robots... I know how to lead the technology... your projects are not bad but if you just do it that way it will take you to much time...
nothing can hold us back on moon exploration..Go moon rover..

1:06 If you cross your eyes and focus on the two outer screens, you can see it in 3D. Nothing exciting, but I thought I'd try it out. lol

@Valendros I always thought that you could build towers on two sides of the site and hang by a very long wire between them :D

Very nice animation and very cool project from NASA.
It's about time we go back to the moon and install a permanent base in those ready made volcanic shelters.

But hey, everything starts with a dream, right?

Anyway this is a good idea to show the geotopography of the moon.

@Mike480537 Yeah, I couldn't have done this animation without it. The topography is the area from the Aldrin crater to the Apollo 11.
