  • haha minority report was in the book made by film critic 501 great films!! by the way the film is really big btw and the worst film in the world is tekken the movie!!

  • Just wondering. Did you know Minority Report was based on a book by Philip K Dick, who wrote the book that would eventually become Blade Runner?

  • Minority Report has a 92% Tomato Rating....

I'm not saying that makes it good, but I honestly didn't think it was bad at all.

I could list HUNDREDS of movies that are much worst than Minority Report....

  • CM must have avoided seeing a lot of movies if 'M.R.' is his choice of worst movie EVER seen.

  • @Numinous20111 It's just occured to me that maybe C.M. meant that there were no excuses (given the talent and resources available) for Minority Report being so poor, as compared to genuinely terrible films where there was never a chance of anything worthwhile being made. So I guess this would justify the 'worst film I've ever seen'. Even so, wouldn't the 3rd matrix film still be worse, for example ?.

  • I think I know why Minority report is so bad. It's okay to bend and break the laws of physics in a movie. That's to be expected, but when it comes to the Law and ethics, things are more black and white and there's a clear line between right and wrong in the world we live in. This movie is supposed to be the world we live in. I can't see how the writings of the founding fathers can just be ignored all willy nilly. The movie just feels like a sub par episode of the 2002 Twilight Zone series.

  • I hate this fucking movie too, not for the same reasons, but this movie was so dumb to me. If some one says you're going to kill some one in dc, why not go to Baltimore and wait it out? Dumb ass movie.

  • Matthew, you seem to claim that Roger Ebert was the only critic to give Minority Report a 4 star review. There were actually plenty of other critics, including Richard Roper, who called it a great movie. It even has a 92% in Rotten Tomatoes. Not trying to defend the movie, but it show Roger wasn't the only critic who gave it a very positive review.

  • matthew because you did not respond to my request to review the big lebowski, i can only asume that you are too scared

  • @johnkiedis27 There may not be much for him to say. He likes The Big Lebowski, as he said in passing during his NCFOM epilogue.

  • Lol, my cousin legit said to me while I was over, "Have you ever seen Minority Report? It's the best sci-fi movie I've ever seen in my entire life!!" I burst out laughing.

  • I admit that I got some enjoyment out of this movie, most of it having to do with eyeballs. Confused Matthew's points are valid, and it IS worse than The Phantom Menace. Menace was a nothing film that didn't live up to expectations and wouldn't even be remembered if it didn't have the Star Wars label. THIS movie, on the other had, actively insults our intelligence.

  • Ghostlake. Good day.

  • honestly i thought he'd peg Lion king 2 1/2

  • That said, I just recently found confusedmatthew's reviews, and I like them. Unlike a lot of people that post video reviews, he seems to have truly thought about how he feels about a movie and why. Too many other internet critics only care about trying to be funny. (And they usually fail painfully at that.)

  • Maybe it would've been better if he'd called it the movie that annoyed him the most in his life. To call it the "worst" is pretty ridiculous. I mean, there are movies that fail on every level. Minority Report isn't perfect, but some elements are fantastic.

  • @WastedPo Well, he says it's the worst film HE PERSONALLY has seen...he's not calling it the worst film ever.

  • People need to stop crying about Matthew's opinion.

  • I am laughing at all the haters. Seriously guys, stop taking things personally. Spielberg made a shit film, Matthew called it what it was. Why are YOU insulted by this? Especially since you weren't at all insulted by how Spielberg took your money and gave you shit in return.

  • I agree with his assessment of Minority Report. I couldn't spot one fallacy in the logic of his review. That said, I personally didn't hate the movie. It was rather meh to me but then I probably didn't take it as seriously as CM from the begining.

  • Minority Report is a great movie. One more reason why this fuckwit shouldn't be reviewing movies. I mean seriously? You can find plenty good in Twilight, but you don't like MR? You are the epitome of not making any fucking sense.

  • What have you got against minority report? Theres so much hate anger in your review of it that its not even remotely funny,. and this for the guy who made those funny star wars review videos and incidently the star wars are WAY worse than minority report, which isnt a massively memorable movie but i thought it was pretty decent. What about The Happening? Now theres a film to hate

  • Minority Report and No Country for Old Men were both great. And he seems to list them as his #2 and #1 of most hated. It's weird, cause I sorta agree with a lot of his reviews. But sometimes he's wayyyy out there. Fine by me though, I like critics that take a chance.

  • @Monty22001 Explain to me how they were great.

  • @Monty22001 Minority Report is mediocre at best.

  • I liked minority report lol

  • Minority Report was pretty good. Not great but at least it was decently written and a sound concept. To call it the worst movie ever insults moviegoers who saw any of the Star Wars prequels, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, Skyline, and many other awful films. It's just not that bad.

  • @AKnoKICKback The Star Wars prequels had interesting concepts great visuals and music!!!!!!

  • I hated that two hour ass movie

  • I couldn't make it through the first part of your review. And it's not even like I love this film. It's your abnoxiious screaming. I listened to your Star Wars reviews and thought those were okay. I don't hink you screamed alot if at all. And I think you came off as completely clueless when you declared "2001: A Space Odyssey" a non-movie. But here, you just scream like Mel Gibson at Roger Ebert, who you say you never agree with anyway, for liking this picture.

  • @vinson1445 You also scream at the movie because the legal system is using these precogs to see future murders and prosecute people for their intent to commit them. But moral opposition to this is actually a plot point in the film. It's like screaming at "Heat" because you don't think they should rob a bank.

  • A troll in central park? Garbage pail kids? Bicentennial Man?

Dude, next year they're coming out with Cowboys versus Aliens, and they're taking it seriously! I can't honestly believe that Minority Report is the worst movie ever. I mean you... WATCHED... the Phantom Menace, right?

  • P.S.

And saying a movie that has down syndrome is so uncool. Down syndrome people are way cooler that your reviews.

  • And this is why I've unsubscribed from your channel. You, in my opinion are the worst film reviewer ever. Your reviews on 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Incredibles, The Lion King, and Spirited Away are a super punch in the stomach. Ok you can blame Spielberg for the movie, but why Roger Ebert, he's just a critic, that so unprofessional for a critic to blame another critic for recommending a movie which he/she hates. But I'm not wasting my time, considered yourself unsubscribed.

  • If 'Minority Report' is the worst movie CM has ever seen, then he's lucky. Personally I didn't think Minority Report worked either technically or as a piece of entertainment.....I actively disliked it. But does it really compare with something like 'Barbarella', which genuinely made me feel nauseous. There are some movies that just seem to drain the inherent will to live. The 1960's Bond 'spoof' Casino Royale, The Last Action Hero, Alien 3, Batman Returns, etc.

  • @DOMuricu Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait, besides from the egg plothole Alien 3 had a flawless story, Alien 3 developped it`s caracters and followed threw on it`s themes, Alien 3 utilised David Finchers directorial talents and had great thrills.

  • Confused Matthew: You strike me as an intelligent, articulate individual. However, labeling "Minority Report" as the worst movie of all time implicates you as an internet troll (at least give a more reasonable explanation as to why MR is awful). If you don't want to waste everyone's time, kindly look at this fantastic (IMO) film with a more objective eye. Don't waste people's time. Don't yell at Ebert and Spielberg. Just review the movie.

Otherwise, people will think you're an uneducated idiot.

  • Mathew, have you seen 'Barbarella'?. While I agree with most of your criticisms of Minority Report, there are plenty of far worse movies out there.

  • Minority Report was a shitty piece of donkey ass, and you all should be ashamed for liking it.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, God Forbid Ebert have an actual opinion.

    I know, shocking.

  • You know, I thought that reiatsu/Linkara's comment at the end of his Ultimates review that people will snivelingly lap up any garbage spat out by Hollywood if it was accompanied by an appeal to authority was way over the line, but after seeing the comments on this channel I believe he didn't go far enough.

I wouldn't call Minority Report 'the worst movie ever' but it's pretty godawful. It insults your intelligence several steps of the way and isn't internally consistent.

  • And you're the worst reviewer I've ever seen in my life.

.....even worse than the Irate Gamer.

  • Guys, it's Matt's OPINION!!! Don't call him out or call hum names for voicing his honest opinion. If he likes a movie, good for him. If he hates a movie, good for him. He has nothing personal against you guys. He has a vendetta against the FILM. SO WHAT?? He can hate a movie if he wants to. And he's not yelling just to annoy you all. He really was genuinely pissed off after seeing the movie and would do things anyone would do if they were pissed off.

  • This guy has one big stick up his ass, eh? I liked Minority Report, and even if he did'nt how could it possibly be the worst movie he's ever seen. What, has he never seen Gigli, Heaven's Gate, Battlefield Earth, I know Who Killed Me (Lindsay Lohan, nuff said), frickin Ishtar? Well, then again he hated 2001, so....whatever. What do I know, I'm just a redneck.

  • @Draugoth

He mentions in the review that he has seen Battlefield Earth.

  • @MaximumKOF Well, then there's no excuse for this review. Even if you think Minority Report is absolute schlock, there is no equal in stupidity to Battlefield Earth. At least every shot in Minority Report is not a dutch angle.

  • @Draugoth

I never mentioned my thoughts on Minority Report or Battlefield Earth, I was only responding to when you were listing films you were asking if he had seen, and I responded saying that he had seen Battlefield Earth since you mentioned it. Besides, it's his opinion on what he thinks is the worst and mentions in his Responses 2 Responses videos that in nearly all cases he can see where the person is coming from and respects their views so long as they do the same.

  • @MaximumKOF I take it that you took my comment "Even if you think Minority..." as being directed at you. Sorry, I meant that in a general sense, not you personally. :)

Continuing, I don't have a problem if this is his opinion, and I do respect it, but my opinion is it is a highly illogical one, such that even after his review and explanations, I cannot fathom at all. Then the attack on Roger Ebert (who doesn't have a bottom jaw anymore, so its not fair) seems rather misplaced and foolish.

  • @Draugoth

    No problem ;)

BTW I think the thing with him calling out Ebert was that he praised Minority Report a lot yet in other reviews in which Ebert points out criticisms with other films which (at least to confusedmatthew) apply to Minority Report, yet it is not called out for it. At least that's how I saw it. I can see where you're coming from though.

  • @Draugoth I understand what you are saying, but I fail to see why the guy's physical conditions has anything to do with being fair. You can call it rude--but he does a pretty good job of personalizing it to the review itself after the first bit.

It would only be unfair if Ebert couldn't respond. And he can respond online, despite not being able to talk.

  • @trlkly Well, It just looks kinda unfair to roast a guy who can't talk...I don't know, just looks weird, I guess I would think twice about doing that myself. Now, that being said, I will say in defense of CM....Ebert has gotten soft. Sometimes he still gets it right, then other times (like his review of Knowing) I'm just stumped by his praise for what are pretty much conceded as bad films.

  • I think that the worst, (and best) movie ever made was thunder prince. It's so bad it's brilliant. (not that that has an awful lot to do with your review xD)

  • "The Patriot" With Mel Gibson?

    "Battlefield Earth" with John Travolta?

  • You thought Minority Report and The Last Samurai were among the worst movies ever? Couldn't disagree anymore...

    Even though its your opinion...

  • Uh yeah Matthew, I'd take Ebert's review over yours anyday.

  • Minority Report isn't even close to being the worst movie ever made imo. confusedmatthew bases his opinion on the studio promoting Minority Report and Roger Ebert giving it 4 stars. That is a pretty ridiculous. Studios promote their movies and Ebert isn't perfect.

Also, confusedmatthew's opinion is far from what most people believe. "Night Train to Mundo Fine" and "Manos: The Hands of Fate" are in the bottom 10 of the worst movies ever made on film fan web sites, not Minority Report.

  • You must be a troll, calling Minority Report the worst movie you have ever seen. Or you're just a complet ignorant who thinks he saw a lots of movie while he has seen less than 200.

  • I just want to comment on one thing. You said that you don't agree with Ebert on a lot of things. That's fine. I don't agree with him on everything either. But, you basically just admitted that you're opinion is superior to his. For whatever reason, you think you're opinion is better than Eberts. This is Roger Ebert we're talking about. He is considered one of the best if not the best critic. THE FUCKING BEST! And yet you have the arrogance to think you are a better critic than him. FUCK OFF!

  • What the FUCK! I could think of 1000 movies that are WAYYYYY worse than this! You have BIZARRE tastes CM.

  • (HOWARD THE DUCK)was worst movie ever made, and tha LAWNMOER MAN2 dont even get me started on that shyte...

  • the film is average but not bad.Catwoman is BY FAR worse than this.

  • CATWOMAN is not even considered as a Film..

  • I just listened to your review, and you freaking crack me up. XD

  • Hahaha

  • It's funny, I always thought I was one of the only people in the world who didn't like this movie.

  • We are a rare breed.

  • I am considering unsubscribing from this channel.

  • why is that?

  • Why would you wanna do that?

  • @sirNemanjapro

Go ahead no one gives a shit.

  • I don't care if people are allowed their own opinions, people who compare movies to Hitler don't deserve them.

  • You're right, oh great and mighty King of the Universe!

  • People are alowed their opinnion. I hate some movies and so do you and Confused Mathew is allowed to hate a few. Plus, movies should make some kind of sense.

  • if matthew hates the shawshank redemption and posts a vidoe review for that, the response from people will not be positive- to say the very least

  • My Ex likes Tom Cruise, proof positive that she is crazy and has no taste!

  • Urgh, I'm disappointed.

I actually love Minority Report, I think it's an excellent bit of science fiction, portraying the failure of Man's attempt to achieve utopia.

  • @suryalinaten10 Man's attempt to achieve utopia is not an original concept, nor is failure thereof, nor infact is the premise for Minority Report( granted I haven't read the Dick story). The only thing you can critique specific to the movie is the portrayal therof, which is what Mr. Confused was doing

  • @arachnophile01

Yeah, I understand what you're saying. I agree it is not an original concept or anything, but to actually label it ''The Worst Movie Ever'' is too harsh, that's what I was perplexed about. But of course, to each his/her own. TY for actually being civilised about this though.

  • Did you ever stop to think that maybe all of your points...which are mostly legal issues....were actually the message of the movie?

Did you stop to think that, what is shown in the film, is a completely different, futuristic version of our country? It's called FICTION.

Also, please stop yelling. It's very annoying. Raising your voice does not equal the fact that you mean it more.

  • Don't you know the first rule of fiction?

It's that all fiction is based in reality and must explain it's fantasy deviations logically.

That means that just because it's fiction, doesnt mean it can do whatever it wants. For example, a fiction can't say earth has a green sky and humans are immortal, and say just go with it, it's fiction. It MUST establish a logic and reasons for it.

  • My argument is literary academic fact.

A writer can imagine, but their imagination must be justified with explanation if they are going to write fiction. Period.

  • So what does this have to do with Minority Report?

  • Changing the legal system from attempted murder to "future murder one" with no logical or even coherent justification why, violates the first rule of writing fiction.

  • The fact that the country has changed in the future does not need to be explained in full detail in order for it to be a good story.

I'd hate to get into a debate with you about "2001".

  • @Ayatron . You idiot . You dirty ugly black. Take a flying fuck.

  • @Ayatron. Your BLACK face is very ugly. Your black testicles and black penis is hung like a horse.

  • Hey Hitler was VERY GOOD at what he did. And he delivered what he promised, even if many hated it!

Minority Report fails on both counts!

  • Anyone else think Confused Matthew has lost it? He used to make awesome points against lousy movies, but now his criticisms and views have no consistency. He hated 2001, Incredibles and The Wrestler but liked Twilight and Indy 4?! Either he's being contrarian for the hits or he's gone Armond White-style crazy.

  • He didn't like Twilight he just said it wasn't that bad.

  • @o2theh The main problem with that is the fact that Twilight IS bad. Do a Google search and you'll find many very well written articles on the dangerous notions and behaviors those movies encourage.

  • @NeroBlack2200 you mean vampirism and emos?

  • @cuntscab555 You could start with just the premise: the story of one girl's struggle between necrophilia and bestiality.

  • @suckerpunchroy well he didnt hate incredibles. 2001 he had fair arguements. if i remeber right, twilight was just ridiculous fun, and i dont know about his opinions on indy 4.

  • the movie is a plie of crap that is what is wrong with it

  • wow your actually comparing hittler to minority report. i like minority report

  • Didn't see that one coming. A movie I watch for lulz.

  • The Hitler-Chamberlain bit was not intended to be historically accurate - only sarcastic. But as I use sarcasm as if it's a second language, I can understand how this got confused with a 1 to 1 analogy.

  • You have inspire me.

  • I can't imagine anybody feeling that strongly about MR. Surely there are more entertaining targets for your bile. Oh well.

  • nope, never heard of it. :(

but I at least got a good guess.

  • So.... this is the worst movie you have ever seen in your life because of bad advertising?...... because you were dissappointed that the movie was presented as something other then it really was to get sales?

    Really?!

Im not even going to comment how stupid that is. You know that complaint is not at all specific tot this movie.

  • "Hook?"

Bob Hoskins will dance on your grave.

  • I really do like your reviews although I disagree with you almost every single time. But I've never disagreed with you more than on MR. This film is decent. Not oustandingly good, but decent. And you make it out to be this horrible film, which it is simple not.

  • Nice!

  • hoooo...that was some rant there. I can't wait until I hear the review. Although I did like the film, I only watched it once and I was quite young. What I remember liking about the movie was the action and tech stuff, (to this day I remember the cars with fondness) not the "thought provoking" stuff, which I thought was shallow. Kudos on Last Samurai. That movie stunk.

  • You haven't seen much Z-movies have you?

  • Is your contempt mainly the "bait and switch" approach to marketing this movie?

Because it's a very typical movie, for Hollywood action/sci-fi. When I saw the "5th Element" I was struck by the amount of work put into the visuals and sound. While, the movie avoided addressing any philosophical or visionary issues, even though they constantly had the opportunity.

  • it's bad, but not as bad as you say.

  • this is the worst movie ever just because you think it was supposed to be a smart movie?

  • wow i swear ur the biggest faggot ever...u walked out on the last samurai? ur pathetic minority report wasnt nearly as bad as some other movies and speilberg wouldnt respond to ur letter if u begged....

  • Next time you write a comment disagreeing with an uploader, try not coming off as a 5-year-old retarded lemur.

Trust me, you'll harvest a lot more respect from your fellow posters if you stay civilized.

  • Minority Report is the worst movie you've EVER seen? That seems like just a BIT of an exaggeration. I guess you don't give any points to movies for ideas that make you think. Is a man guilty of a crime he never commits if it is forseen by a method with 100% accuracy that he will commit the crime? Also, I hadn't see the personalized popup ads in the real world idea before this movie. There are plenty of shitty movies that offer no new ideas. This is not the worst movie by a long shot.

  • That notion hardly makes anyone with more than 5 hours of self-reflection behind them "think".

  • Join confusedmatthew and we'll tell what to like and what not!

Just kiddin', the question is:...it is possible that CM might get it wrong?

I mean i listened to his intro of minority report and the hatred he shows in his mini speech and the rant over...a film.. is...disturbing! He sounds like Minority Report actually did something really bad to him!

And it has nothing to do about MR being good or bad, the thing is - to get this upset over a film is not right!

  • it seems no matter how much I try to safeguard my self with disclaimers and qualifications, things tend to get taken out of context.

I am warning everyone well before the review that this review is personal. It is a film that I hate personally, and as such the review will be an admixture of objective and subjective comments from yours truly.

  • Well, I am very excited for this review. All of your reviews are entertaining.

  • Thx for the reply! It's ok to have a passion for liking or hating films, it is your right! What seems a bit...out of place is HATE OVER A MOVIE! I mean it's a movie! If i don't like a film i just forget about it or don't watch it anymore! If it happens to be in a cinema i either get out or stay till the end! Not every film is brilliant, not every film is bad. But it so happens that sometimes i feel dissapointed, because i had great expectation (e.g:T-Salvation), but i don't hate it!

  • Oh sometimes hate is justified over a movie. And I mean HATE. Dead of Alive, Batman and Robin, Dragonball Evolution, Star Wars Episode II, I could go on.

  • You said that you wanted your money back, well...how many times after you saw a brilliant movie have you praised the cinema employees or sent a letter to the directors praising them for their work? If you haven't done that by now, you should consider sending Spielberg a letter of commendation for Jurassic Park (i love this movie by the way).

And also, have you read Philip K. Dick's Minority Report? Because if you want to blame someone for the story, he is the first to blame! I love M. Report!

  • And because I try not to be a hypocrite, i would also tell you that I love your reviews, on films that we both have similar views (eg. Independence Day). But i tend to not have a rigid views, because i lost count how many times i realised i was wrong about something and/or had a change of view (eg. i hated the Matrix sequels but now i understand them perfectly).

All the best and looking forward to your reviews!

  • @confusedmatthew Could I maybe get a personal webcabmeeting with you in the future, if I have the nesecary equipment and that you post that on your website, because I`m a huge star wars fan and I would like to discuuss thhe prequels with you and Stand in Stan. I`veseen almost any review about the prequels on youtube and Iam planning on making my own reviews in the future and with all the respons I copuld fill 2oo minutes.. Please!! I have watched alm ost aLL YOUR REVIEWs.

  • I have seen Minority Report,...twice!

    And...Iiked it!

  • Blaming Ebert and Spielberg right from the get go? This is gonna be good.

Could you take special care to try and point out the religious aspects of the film, meager as you say they are? I missed them entirely when I saw Minority Report.

  • I can't agree with Matthew about 2001.. but I can agree with him about Minority Report. The short story by Philip K. Dick was excellent.. the movie is the worst thing Spielberg has ever done.

  • "worst thing Spielberg has ever done."

    Hook?

  • 1000% agree with CM! This was the most dissapointing movie I HAVE EVER SEEN! So for me it was the "worst" too in that I felt deeply upset after seeing it!

  • I thought the lion king was a great movie. Until i saw his movie review and figured he made complete sense in calling it a bad movie.

So, let's wait and see. I didn't think MR was a great movie, I barely even remember it. But now I wonder what he has to say.

  • Minority Report?! I could see it as being quite average for someone, but worst film ever? Transformers 2 still takes the cake for that, most recently :D

  • please tell me youve seen troll 2.

  • FUCKING MINORITY REPORT? I watched that movie a while ago and didn't think it was THAT bad. It was just ok.

  • OK, ConfusedMatthew, you've given your review of this film quite a lengthy introduction.

But did you like the film? I don't recall you saying.

  • No, he didn't like it at all. In fact, he considers it the worst movie he has ever seen.

  • Huh?

  • You live up to your username. You troglodyte.

  • These comments are leaving me bewildered.

    Troglodyte?

Why are people insulting me for making a very harmless joke.

What have I done wrong exactly?

  • Hahaha, so owned. =)

  • Minority Report was definetely bad, but worst movie ever? i think if you watch Rob Zopmbies Halloween 2 then you'll change your opinion. and btw i wouldn't hold Roger Ebert responsible for this, i mean hes a critic, its his job to recomend movies he loves.

  • Minority Report was pretty meh, but worst movie? Come on Matthew there are bigger pieces of trash out their.

  • I guess u haven't seen Rob Zombie's Halloween then if u think Minority report is the worst movie ever

  • And I was so certain that Ben Affleck would have been in the movie you hated the most....

  • I hate the minority report too. And I laughed my ass off about Ebert's Golden Compass being better than LOTR comment. This is why you are my hero. Tolkien, Jesus Christ and Matthew = my heroes.

  • IMO This isn't the worst movie of the decade...Year One is.

  • Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?????? C'mon, you might be able to hate that one but there's still the Matrix sequels, the Star Wars prequels, Indiana Jones 4, Transformers 1 & 2, Tokyo Drift, Torque, Men in Black 2, Titanic, A.I., Pearl Harbor, Junior, Swept Away, Once Upon a Time in Mexico ... woah man, there's so much more!!!

  • Once Upon a Time in Mexico is a thrilling and fun movie, nothing wrong with that one.

  • Maybe Confused Matthew has a problem with it.

  • Can't comprehend in the least how you could think of this movie like that unless you haven't seen El Mariachi and Desperado before but I'm sure even you can brainstorm dozens of extremely shitty movies on the spot that can at the least compete with MR in shittiness.

  • MR is shitty? Sacre bleu! (In Venice we swim in the pee! We SING in da pee!). It is "meh!" at best!

Desperado is great too. Better than OUATIM, that's fo sho!

  • Avatar!

  • Honestly? This one? The novel is great and the movie is definitely not below Hollywood avarage. Hope you won't be negative at all cost like in case of 2001...

  • @snowman555555 When are people going to realize that 2001 was just a shitty movie.

  • That's not a fact just an opinion. Just like it's my opinion that maybe you didn't appreciate the symbolism in that film.

  • Even if the symbolism was present (which it wasn't) the movie would have hardly been any better.

  • Kubrick was known to put symbolism in his films that's why you get so many memorable images in his films. So this serve as clues to the films real meaning. Because as kubrick said himself it's better for the audience to figure out a films meaning rather than the film just telling you.

  • That might work, but Kubrick didn't use any symbolism. It was just laziness on his part that time.

  • Kubrick was never lazy when it came to the films he was making. He wanted his films to be just the way he wanted that's why he put so much pressure on shelley duvall in the shining. There is symbolism in the film like the scene with the ape tossing the bone in the air which was used as a tool then cutting to the future and a satelite also a tool therefore showing how much technological advancement there has been.

  • @mummra4ever:

Guh!!! That's the point man, you don't have to explain that to the viewing audience!

By the simple fact that you're sitting there watching the movie, that point is moot. All it dose is beat you over the head with what you already knew-

It's a waste of time, drags the plot along and brought down the quality of the movie.

  • Well I do have to explain that bit of symbolism if people don't get it or just weren't thinking about it. The movie does not beat you over the head with anything that's been done or said before. The film has a deeper meaning to it as long as you can appreciate the symbolism and the themes of the movie if not then I guess it just doesn't interest you.

  • Kubrick was very passionate about his movies. I think you calling him lazy is the biggest insult you can give the man, so if that was your goal, congratulations.

  • I'm not going to avoid calling people on their bullshit. If Kubrick honestly thought that strong symbolism was present in his movie, it was only on a personal level, and not in a way that everyone could see it. Because that is the responsibility of a producer, and he utterly failed to meet it, I stand by my accusation of laziness.
