  • Thanks this really helps!

  • Before I squat down I stick my butt out to arch my back. My knees are locked out before I initiate the movement. Is this ok?

  • Hey smitty, when i squat my traps start to hurt from the weight resting on my traps, and afterwards the tension from it can raise to my head and cause a tension headache. Do you think it could be caused by weak traps?

I only squat about 60kgs. I'll try your tip off squeezing the bar and engaging the lats. might help.

  • Spreading the knees? Hmm.. I've never thought about it like that. I have the image in mind of "sitting back" rather than "sitting down", which goes along with your tips. But I'm always leery about issues with knees, and wouldn't spreading them (with your feet planted) put torque or lateral shear force on the joint? Thanks for the vid Smitty

  • hi, when i arched my lower back in the start position, seems that it rounds more in the bottom position ( i do the atg squat with oly lifting shoes), why this happens?

  • Does this also apply to the low bar squat?

  • dude thanks for that spread knees cue.

And I always try to get people to think "glutes rearward"

I think I am over stressing it though after this vid. thank alot man.

  • Does it matter the angle of your feet? I have a tendency to have my feet pointed outward, is this ok? Or should I force them stright ahead? Thanks Smitty!

  • @LineItUp slightly pointed out brother, about 45 degrees.

  • Smitty, these are awesome! The tip on spreading the legs is one that I may have missed before, great tip! Thanks as always.
