It is true that many are disappointed that Obama has not delivered on more of the change he promised, but I suspect it has been his agressive efforts on compromising with the GOP. Dimint is truly wrong of his estimate of Obama since his hero, BUSH, did far, FAR worse and the policies he mentions are carrry overs from BUSH. I suspect that Obama is trying NOT to end up like another CHANGE president who had similar enemies, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. There are many here who want him dead.
Matt Lauer doesn't care about what Obama is doing -- he's more concerned about DeMint's Waterloo statement. Obama does need to be stopped ... why is that a problem ? Matt Lauer is not concerned with the real issue which is an attempt by rogue Senators and Obama to overtake the health care system.
Do you also realize that during the Bush Administration more conservatives were indicted or investigated than at any other time in the history of the nation.
When are American's going to realize that they are becoming a nation dumbed down by television, computer games and movies that masguarade as entertainment. America has become a nation of illiterate, obese, unimformed social misfits who care nothing about the world around them. You are isolationist.
Jim DeMint is a shallow hateful bigot. He care nothing about this country, he only cares about the reactionary oppression of anyone who diverges from his hateful view of his fellow Americans. He represents the rising tide of fascism in America. If he is the face of the Republican/Tea Party than God help us. This man represents everything that is wrong in our country today.
@basketball579 This moron is miles out of the mainstream. During his run for Senate he was asked if he agreed with the S. Carolina Republican Party's platform calling for a law making illegal for gays to work in public schools. He said that he certainly supported such a law and took it one step further- he said that any unmarried woman who got pregnant shouldn't be allowed to work in public schools either! He is a seething hateful bigot and an unhinged extremist. Period.
@butuh13 To me those incidents that you mentioned seem to be taken out of context. I can see why he would not want people like that working in public schools because they can potentially spread the wrong ideas to kids. I don't think that's enough to ban that person from working in a public school, but it seems to me like you're picking and choosing from what he spoke out against. I would like to know that my 7-year-old son is not being influenced by a homosexual that he supposed to look up to.
@basketball579 You are as much of a bigot as you are a moron. You know gay people, you've had gay teachers and so has your son. If you think they are any threat to you you are a fool. If you would support laws oppressing them for being themselves like Jim DeMint, then you are an evil bigot. Period. The things DeMint stands for are not "incidents"- rather, It's the perspective of a man who would oppress his fellow Americans. From your words it's clear you are the same.
@butuh13 By the way, if you don't want your son to be influenced by any homosexuals you better keep him in the basement his whole life...or should I say closet?
Gay people throughout the world do all the things you admire- write books, play college and pro sports, compose music, invent important things, defend our country... the accomplishments of gay people are the accomplishments of the human race. To protect your son from all that, you'll need to remove him from the human race.
@butuh13 The issue here is public schools where LITTLE kids would be influenced. I want my son knowing that it is wrong before he is influenced by it. This doesn't mean being prejudice against those people, it means accepting the person while not accepting their beliefs about homosexuality as correct. It's difficult for children to do that. I think using the word "oppress" is jumping to a conclusion again. "Banning from working in a public school" is very broad. I never said I supported that.
@butuh13 First of all bro, look who is being the name-caller and "evil" bigot. You immediately jump to insults, why? It's pretty easy for someone to criticize others for taking a stand for what they believe in. What if I called you a bigot for disagreeing with a rapist who thinks it's ok to rape someone? What's wrong is wrong. I never said I hated homosexuals, you implied that. I don't want my kid learning that it is ok. Until he is old enough to understand it is wrong, I want to keep it away.
@butuh13 Also, an unmarried woman who gets pregnant can easily send a message to kids that it's ok to have premarital sex. That's not a message I want my son learning either, so I can see where he is coming from. Maybe it was a bit far to say that they should not work in public schools altogether but he might specify himself if he were given the chance. I don't think it's right to just judge based on face value. He's taking a stand for beliefs and I disagree with premarital sex just like him.
@basketball579 Of course, you and Mr DeMint are free to to be hateful bigots at home, and to teach that bigotry to your children. But to think you can make LAWS enforcing your bigotry is another matter, and the rational, freedom loving majority of Americans will fight you all the way. Because most Americans don't oppose homosexuals or single mothers nearly as much as they oppose people like YOU and DEMINT.
The oppressors will always fall, and you are on the wrong side of history.
@butuh13 It's talk like this that makes people hate politicians for no good reason. General Jerry Boykin praises DeMint on several different levels. Boykin is one of the most honorable people in the American military. I suggest having a conversation with DeMint before you judge based on a statement. Again, I don't hate homosexuals but homosexuality is wrong. Only 5 of 50 states currently allow gay marriage so that should tell you something. Ellen Degeneres is one of the funniest people I know of
The only way you can assert that "homosexuality is wrong" is if you are fool enough to think Ellen DeGeneres is lying when she says that her orientation is not a choice. Gay people are born, not made. That is why neither you nor you son have anything to fear from them. But you would still try to "protect" your son from a gay teacher based on your bigotry. People like you and DeMint are a bigger threat to freedom than homosexuality. Liking Ellen DeGeneres doesn't change that.
@butuh13 Before I go any further, I think you should check your facts. People are not born into homosexuality. There is no evidence that they are and I know several people who were homosexual at one point but came out of it, and supported the idea that it is not something you are born into. So you need facts if anything you say is going to be considered valid.
@basketball579 There is no further to go. If you know people who claim to have "come out" of there homosexuality (interesting choice of words, by the way...) I assure you they are in a distinct, almost microscopic minority. But it's beside the point. If you think that gay people are going to harm your child by teaching him US History or Math or even changing the light bulbs in the school hallway, and we need a LAW to discriminate against them, then you are a bigot.
@butuh13 Dude a teacher is more than just someone who reviews the facts of history. Especially when they are teaching little kids. Children look up to their school teachers and their beliefs are bound to have an effect on that kid at some point or another. Again, did I ever say that I support a decision to ban these people from working in public schools? No.And I don't think that is exactly what DeMint would say if you were to have a conversation with him about it.The position in school matters.
@basketball579 I know plenty of gay people and not one of them believes their same sex attraction is a choice. Have you considered the possibility that the reason you don't know a similar number of life long homosexuals is that they are aware of your prejudice towards them?
And again I ask you- Is YOUR sexuality a CHOICE or has it been your orientation your whole life? Were you taught to be heterosexual? Could you COME OUT of it and try being gay?
@butuh13 I think you need more research than just talking to a select few gay people. Search Mike Haley. Go to narth.com and read a little. So yes I have made a choice based on my experiences my whole life to be heterosexual. I did not come out of the womb heterosexual when I didn't even know what sex was. I'm not saying it's someone's fault to be homosexual because they could have had bad experiences growing up. Mike Haley's story is a good example. He chose based on his experiences regardless.
@butuh13 And there you go again with the prejudice thing. I am not prejudice towards these people just because I disagree with what they believe. It's like smoking. I disagree with a person's decision to smoke but I don't ban them from working in a public school. LAWS are still passed though, protecting people that don't smoke such as cities than ban smoking in public places. My university told people that they can't smoke near the entrances to buildings because it affects people that walk by.
@basketball579 You think being gay is a choice like smoking is a choice? Do you have any idea how ignorant that belief is? That one statement on your part makes you a bigot.
But I will ask you one more time and if you can't answer you will not hear from me again:
Is YOUR sexual orientation a choice? Like smoking?
@butuh13 I already answered that bro. Look at my second post below. Did you bother reading it? I explained that people choose based on a variety of things like experiences and the way they were brought up. So YES, it is my CHOICE to be heterosexual. I already said that. If you search narth.com and read my post again below you would not think that is ignorant to say. If you had any better understanding about it, you would not say that.
@basketball579 You base your certainty that being gay is a choice on the story of one guy. It is certainly true that people who are sexually abused by someone of their own sex can become confused about their orientation. But that in no way accounts for millions of people- perhaps as much as 4% of the population who feel that have known their whole lives that they were gay. You choose to base your view on the exception and ignore the rule because doing so re-enforces your prejudice.
@butuh13 Dude narth.com is a whole site devoted to figuring that stuff out. My point with Mike Haley is that he has been there and he believes for certain that it is based on experiences. I mean, how can you come out of the womb believing that you are naturally attracted to men? When was the first time you started liking another woman? Girls have "cooties" until the age of 15! Just look at the people who are researching it on the website... that's all I'm saying.
@basketball579 I gotta ask you- Do you really think it's unfair to hold Jim DeMint accountable for something he said while running for Senator in 2004?
I mean, conservatives tried to hold Obama accountable for things the pastor of his church said years ago, but I can't criticize DeMint for his own statements from 6 years ago?
@basketball579 I just sent you an email with a quote from a S. Carolina paper that covered DeMints bigoted remarks during his Senate run.
If you really think your sexuality is a choice then I can only assume that, like choosing to stop smoking, you could "choose" to become gay.
Again- you have had gay teachers, you know gay people, you have gay people in your family, you interact with gay people every day. Your fear is not based on logic, it is based on your prejudice.
@butuh13 Haha. Well the email cleared up that he was mistaken by what he said and at the end he said he wants the best for his children. Which was my point the whole time. So thank you for that and I want to ask you now, did you look up Mike Haley? He is an example of someone "choosing" not to be gay after being gay for a long time. I don't know where you get this idea that I have fear based on prejudice. I have evidence supporting what I believe.
@basketball579 He said he wants the best for his children...and that justifies his support for his party's call for a law making it illegal for gays to work in public schools. I know that to another bigot that is acceptable, but not to me.
I asked you if your orientation was a choice LIKE SMOKING- something you could quit. Could you cultivate an enjoyment for having sex with other men the way you could cultivate an enjoyment of smoking? If so, you need to have a serious talk with your wife.
@butuh13 DeMint said he was mistaken. People took what he said at face value and he later apologized for how it came out. Then he clarified what his intentions were. I'm not saying DeMint is perfect either, everyone says things they regret, but I certainly see where he is coming from by wanting the best for his children. All this happened in 2004 by the way. That's a pretty old article and a pretty old argument. Why not focus on good decisions he has made recently?
@basketball579 You take comfort in the fact that only 5 states allow gay marriage. But 10 years ago none did. Despite people like Gen Boykin's hateful fundamentalism, the US military will now allow gays to serve their country openly. You may not understand what Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness means, but most Americans do.
You and DeMint are on the wrong side of history and the wrong side of true freedom. This is a civil rights issue, and you will lose.
@basketball579 I am a heterosexual man. I have been married for 15 years. I have known my whole life that I am attracted to women. I could not "choose" to be otherwise.
Ask yourself this question. The South is dominated and represented by people like Jim Demint. Have you ever asked yourself why most Southern States rank in the bottom of the scholastic achievement tests and academic success?
Maybe they should spend more time focusing on the Presidents penis, prayer in school, abortion, flag burning and gay marriage like they normally do to waste your time.
@IngloriusBastard11 "Have you ever asked yourself why most Southern States rank in the bottom of the scholastic achievement tests and academic success?"
Jim Demint, the prime example of what America shouldn't be. He represents the self-centered, egotistical right whos slogan should be "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME."
Obviously the American public is dominated by the dumbest people on the planet and I am hoping that because they have voted the same people into office who almost destroyed your nation that you will be satisfied now that they will have the power to finish the job they started.
America, you are a bunch of fucking fools and imbeciles.
@IngloriusBastard11 Do you realize that conservatives a) contribute more time and money to charity than do liberals, and b) score higher on understanding the issues than do liberals? Check out Pew Research if you doubt me.
It's clear to me who the fool and imbecile is. Look in the mirror and you'll see the answer.
It's also clear that people like you are working to destroy this country and everything it has stood for.

I'm typically turned off by unbiased liberal news media, but Lauer was able to make clear his point and simultaneously was very respectful to Senator Demint. I wish more news stations took this approach on both the right and the left.
Traitor!!! DeMint in 2008, you killed a piece of legislation that would have acknowledged WWII POWs were used as slaves just because you could not add an earmark to it. You bastard!!! you only use the military to give your friends contracts but to honor them YOU SPIT ON OUR TROOPS! You piece of shit!!!
Demint could have spoken about civil liberties and protecting the Constitution but instead he plays politics and makes Republicans look like assholes.
I say DeMint for President. The liberal media is desperate to make conservatives out to be racist when the exact opposite is true. Conservatives oppose Obama, Pelosi and Reid's policies, not Obama's skin color.
@Jaba108 That's why the keep calling him a Kenyan Muslim and Hussein and why Bill O'Reilly said the purpose of open immigration is "to break down the white christian power structure"...to a nodding John McCain.
Good Riddance to this trash in November. O'Donnel, Paladino, Angle will crash the GOP single handedly.
Let's start with the obvious! Matt it's not good to be with you this morning! Any time spent in the company of a slobbering, mindless liberal is time wasted! The only thing DeMint said that I disagree with is "we need health care reform". We don't need health care reform. We need to let the damm herd thin.
EP, Reagan, I LOVE THAT TOPIC, as it truly impacts the circle jerk in the Middle East now in real time. I believe that Reagan would have labeled DeMint, his fellow republican, or any Democant as a traitor had they spoken out aloud against his actions in Iran. Ah, the ICA Years. I was just a boy then. What DeMint was doing would be like his openly siding with Lebanon back then, or actually planning to visit their country. A bit abstract, but the point is clear, or at least it is to me. Cont.
EP, Reagan shipped 2 million a month (during horrid economic times) to Afghanistan while not concerning himself with who was doing the fighting against Russia. Osama Bin Forgotten! Better relationships with Iran, putting Saddam into power, who would then shut the door on our exclusive access to their accursed oil. The Left (Carter) and Right (Reagan and others) have done a great job creating everything shitty that we see over there now. All that allow this to be are traitors in my opinion.
TSA employees work for the Federal Government. Keeping from unionizing is protecting TAX PAYERS, not big business. So accusing him of unashamed whoring for the TAX PAYERS seems to be a good thing, no?
Metalhead you should call yourself Mentalhead Barack Obama want's the Healtcare the way as he campaigned but it's the Republican's that are trying to railroad the original bill with there lies and propaganda
Obama and the Dems had a super majority in the Congress and could have pushed through ANY bill without the Reps doing anything.
Also, Obama is the president, not the king. The bill has a process which it must go through. The Dems wrote the bill and denied the Reps from making any amendments. Just because they speak out against the bill, doesn't mean it's 'lies and propaganda'.
And this shows what he campaigned for vs what is in the bill
It's funny how even the Today show is biased and they'd rather just try and make a Republican look like a bad guy rather than asking questions that matter. Why doesn't the media ever ask Barack Obama about his speech in 2003 when he claimed he wanted single payer healthcare and said that "we've got to take back the white house, and then we've got to take back the Senate...what we can do is stand up to the Republicans."
EP, Demint needs to keep his nose out of Honduras, much like Woodrow Wilson should have kept his little self out of South American Affairs! Affairs that the now leaders down there have yet to forget! Rather his actions are constitutional or not is your deal as you are the one who mentioned that word. Socialism this, communism that. Reagan said the same thing about Medicare! The same was said about Social Security! Kerry is a pussy who threw his Service Medals in a crowd! Screw him!
Nose out of Honduras? Maybe, but you said DeMint is a traitor to the US, not Honduras. Yes, I mentioned the Const, but you mentioned Traitor. In order to be a traitor, you must violate a the Const or violate a law. Again, name one law or Const artical/amendment that DeMint has violated.
What does Regan and Medicare have to do with anything?
EP, DeMint clearly undermined the Commander and Chief while addressing a foreign nation. He would have been labeled a traitor for doing so during the Bush years. His actions are similar to Palin finding herself in a communist country (we owe billions to) speaking against the Commander and Chief. Rather you agree with Obama or not, their actions are anything but patriotic! Reagan? Given DeMint's position on health reform, the analogy is very relevant, though I don't fell like explaining it.
Just because DeMint is siding with the Constitution of Hondouras, doesn't mean he's undermining the POTUS and a pro-democracy stance would NOT have him labled as a traitor in the Bush years.
DeMint's stance on 'health reform' is pro-US Constitution. Not only that, but DeMint has his own plan on 'health reform' that the Dems won't allow into their bill (and we both know it's not 'health reform' or even 'healthcare reform', it's reform on how healthcare is paid for... all about the money.)
Ep, undermining/obstruction is all the Right seems to know. Just months after 911, all were unified. Now, the divide between those that govern our lives has never been so vast. LOL, the only thing they agreed on was the 9 million to rebuild Gaza days after the inauguration! Fortunately for Republicants, Democants are cowards and won't use the "With Us Or Against Us" GW used. Health Reform? From Blue Dog Democants to Neocons, many are more interested in profit for the Big Insurance Companies.
Wrong. Obstruction began a long time ago. Good examples are when the democrats filibustered the Civil Rights Act, Dem G Wallace blocking the school doors to keep black students from attending, etc. And undermining when Dem Reid said "this war [Iraq] is lost" and Dem Durban compaired American soldiers' actions to Pol Pot. Health Reform? For Dems, its all about profit for Big Government. Why is it in the bill to fine (with threat of jail) anyone who doesn't buy health ins & for the gov to SELL it?
EP, ah, The Dixiecrats! G. Wallace, and S. Thurmond were Dixiecrats /Democrats who found a home in The Republican Party. Their rhetoric can be seen in today's Tea Party. Said group's illiterate signs are a watered down version of their predecessors! The Democants would have done themselves a service getting rid of the FB, it's now The Right's primary tool. The Right was clearly about profit for 8 years! They weren't so against government intrusion either, and in the name of "patriotism".
No, Wallace and Thurmond were DEMOCRATS at the time and Wallace was NEVER a Republican. The Dixiecrats were party that lasted long enough to run 1 presidential canditate. ooooo
What rhetoric are you talking about? Give me one popular quote from each movement.
Why do you keep trying to change the subject? Gvmnt 'intrusion'? Name ONE person who "patriots" have "intruded", and I'll show you a bill where the gvmnt wants to INTRUDE on every American Citizen.
EP, Thurmond deserved that new found home line exclusively. Bottom line, Dixiecrat rhetoric, ideology, whatever the Sam Hell you desire to call it, it's currently found on The Far Right! Look up some of those illiterate Tea Party signs where nigger is spelled nigar! I keep changing topics? ROTFF, WHATEVER! FB was my short for your mentioned filibuster while we are on the subject of changing topics! I already told you why this DeMint fuck is a traitor! I could care less if you concur!
I've looked up dozens of pics of Tea Party signs & never saw 1 racial remark. I did find that Sen Byrd (D, WV) was a Grand Wiz of the KKK WHILE serving as a US Senator. And Thrumond (D, SC) couldn't have FBed without his party's support. I also found that MLK was a registered Republican (listen to his speeches, you'll see he promotes the same ideals as the right). So, DeMint is a traitor cause he supports the Hondouran Cnst, Supreme Ct, & the citizens of Honduras? You gotta do better than that.
EP, I've given you the comparison of DeMint's actions using Reagan's Era. Your lack of comprehension is your own issue. I could care less. At this point, we're talking just to talk. The fact you don't see the Republican Party as The Modern Dixiecrats due to their race based rhetoric is also your issue! Both parties are guilty of racism! W. Wilson kept Jim Crow going! Senator Reid buys into so-called Negro Dialect! DeMint, his little waterloo statement, and his real time motives are clear to me!
You did not make Reagan era comparisons, you only said that Reagan wouldn't like DeMint. I was the one who made comparisons. I haven't seen a single "nigger" tea party sign, and I looked. And just because DeMint wants to stop Obama's social agenda doesn't make his a racist. What's racist about Waterloo?? It was a historic battle between 2 (mostly) white armies. Your inability to make intellectual comparisons is YOUR issue.
EP, YAWN! Dale Robertson operates Tea Party site. At one of their rallies on February 27th, 2009, he was out in the open with just one example of Tea Party/ Modern Day Dixiecrat Printed Rhetoric! The fact you can't find it is your issue. The fact you can't see that when concerning Afro Americans, the Democants more so embody the ideology of the Republicunts Of Old, and specifically since LBJ, is also your issue! The Regan analogy? LMFAO, Mouse? Thanks for the history lesson, troller.
Dale Robertson does not operate anything for Tea Parties. He was at a rally with a racist sign, was kicked out of it and is not allowed into any more meetings. Tea Parties have been going on for over a year with 1.5-2 million showing up in DC, millions of others at local rallies, & you can only come up with ONE sign?? Awesome. The fact that you can't recognize blacks have attend and are welcome at Tea Party events, is your isue.
Once the insults start coming, you know who has lost. Thanks.
EP, again, your opinion is your opinion. Your observation and participation with your word redirection is played out. You're clearly right and wouldn't know the middle if you fell in it. I gave you one sign because that's all I intend on giving! LOL, there is nothing to prove to you after your one sided commentary here. By the way, Dale pretty much nailed Palin and who she really is yesterday. I'm getting tired of you telling me about my race, troller! Troller isn't an insult, it's what you are.
EP, since we are going against your grain and changing the topic, your mention of MLK is a joke at best! Countless Afro Americans voted Republican (when they were allowed to do so) long after emancipation and up to their ideological shift concerning Black People! Coincidentally, it was within the timeframe of Thurmond's (D) switch to The Republican Party! Since then more Afro Americans have voted primarily Democrat. Likening today's Republican Party to the one from the past is laughable!
WE? are going against my grain? Got a mouse in your pocket? No, Blacks started voting Dem during FDR's term, when JST was still in college. Have you read the first Rep Charter of 1854? Not much has changed. Who freed the slaves? How many Dems voted for the 13th Amndmnt? Who appointed first black Sec of State? first black delegates? black US Senator? black key note speaker? black Sec of Labor? Chairman of a national party? Sec of Trans? black Supreme Ct Justice? National Security Advsr? Atty Gen?
EP, correction, I don't feel like explaining it. Know that there is no disrespect intended by my saying that. I feel the past plays it's part now, and can be used as a learning tool regardless of one's political affiliation. I could go on and on about Reagan for days. One thing is for certain, he would scoff at the so-called conservatives of today. I wonder how he would have viewed DeMint's siding with a foreign nation contrary to a position he would have taken in his time?
Yes, the past plays a a part in today, but this discussion is about you declairing DeMint as a US traitor. No, Reagan would scoff at the Republicans of today, not conservs. Reagan would've sided against DeMint in Hondouras? Hmmm... how did Reagan side against West Germany? Russia in Afghanistan? Contras in Nicaragua? Lebanon, Granada, Lybia? Given Reagan's record, I would say he would've seen eye-to-eye with DeMint.
Yeah...this coming from the same idiot who's a TRAITOR to the USA. He favors a Theocracy in America, and thinks the Constitution is "just a piece of paper, like idiot bush did.
Demint's "plan" involves giving every family without employer insurance a 5K tax credit or voucher (depending on income) to buy health insurance.
Hello...do the math.
30 million families x 5K x 10 years is $1.5 trillion
Thats more than the Dems propose. And then you can't buy a good family policy for only 5K. The insurance companies would love it though. Lots of those high deductible polices that hardly ever get used and are "profit centers" as they like to say.
Sen. Demint thank you for being such a brave man fighting against big government spending.
Standing up against the government takeover of health care.
We can see how NBC is trying to bash you in this interview, so much for un-bias interviewing huh. I swear is there any Main Stream media that isn't bias.
Well all these Other Congressmen and Senators that don't stand up and fight for us will be seeing us Americans standing up and voting them out.
Heck yeah! You could see how Matt Lauer was upset at Demint's first response when he told him about his "It will break him" comment, so Matt had to say it again, with a little more emphasis on the "Breaking Him" words. Matt Lauer is quite liberal, and Jim Demint is a Great American! Standing up, and letting everyone know that this Nationalized Health Care with this End Of Life Counseling for Senior Citizens (Grandmas and Grandpas People!) is definitely bad news, and not what this country needs!
Weren't we supposed to have access to all bills for a week (or whatever) before they're put to a vote? I guess you can't have that when all your legislation is either statism, favoritism, or both.
Give Obama time you asshole....you know got dam well the government can't do nothing in 6mos....you assholes...this motherfucker sound like a slave owner...what the hell he means "we got to stop him"...
5 Stop pretending you know what this country can afford better than the people who are in charge of the treasury, The Federal Reserve and so forth. You seem to know all the numbers, u've got it all figured out don't u????
well, I say you're just scared because of people like Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity
He also said he would not sign a Bill untill everything was paid for, so far no bill has been passed, so stop freaking out like you've seen the end result of the Bill. he only set the deadline b/c without a deadline nothing gets done, he knows it's not realistic
3. Socialism is a scary word mainly because the Repubs have conditioned you to fear it. Other Countries r doing fine with socialism, The United States Military is Socialist. so are our police n fire stations, n libraries, we already have Socialism! I'm aware Healthcare is a larger Sector, I'm aware, But Dude!!! stop cowering everytime someone like Demint mentions socialism.
4. Obama has said how he's going to pay for it, Do your research.
2. He's not going to let the Public insurer eat from the taxpayer's pot without having to actually earn money just like the private insurance companies, except it will be better because they'll find ways to cut costs, and won't cheat people.
Do you know how ridiculous repubs look when they criticize Obama, but offer no solutions to the problem, Demint is one of the senators of my state, I know he's a prick, who's just looking out his republican interests. Him and that prick Linday Graham, they're just like the rest of the bigots in my state who pretend they want what's best for everybody. I don't have to know them I know what they've said. My question to you guys is why are you letting these Repubs lie to you?
Healthcare is a crisis, and they wouldn't have to try to fix it during a recession if other presidents had taken care of this problem before, I imagine Obama feels if he doesn't do it, it'll never get done. "Wait, wait, we can't do it now, slow down Obama, it's too soon". Well we've had Decades and Decades to do this, when will it be time? when? Procrastinating is what got us into this, and Bush is more like Stalin than Obama, devastating a whole nation to control a region that is rich in oil
And another thing lets do comparibles here. Socialized medicine is only accomplished with small populations i.e. Canada, UK, are supposedly the best but the U.S has 300 million people!!! It is not going to be deficit neutral that is fricking impossible. Medicare and Medicaid money is a drop in the bucket. We are the last significant free market health care in the world. What will our fall do for the rest of the world? Governments will determine what drugs are made, the end.
3. Allow nurses and EMT"s to compete with doctors, even setting up their own shops, for minor services. Diffenent professions compete in the dental field and the results have been great.
If I cut my hand, why do I have to go to an E-room, use up a doctor's and hospital's time who could be doing somehing more high end, and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, when I could go to a place in a nearby strip mall, walk in,and have a certified nurse stitch it up for $100 or so?
(Republicans feel free to wake up and steal these)
1. Let health insurance companies compete across state lines. As it is, each state is a little monopolistic fiefdom with a few insurance players who can do whatever they want.
2. Prohibit insurance companies from poking around health records and making care decisions.
When you wreck your car, the insurance company doesn't get to tell the shop how to fix your car.
Thanks. Another thought. I read an interesting article once. The areas of Dentistry, cosmetic surgery and lasik eye surgery have three things in common.
1. Costs have dropped in recent years, while service and quality have actually gone way up.
2. Health insurance companies are rarely involved since things in these three fields are usually not covered.
3. There was no big government program to make things work
These facts should at least point in the direction of some good reforms.
You Right Wing Propaganda robots need to wake up! why would Obama pass a bill simply to have more control our lives? His mother died of cancer, he knows the troubles of our Healthcare system He's a man trying to do what should have been done a long time ago, and that is bring desperately needed Healthcare reform to America. You let Demint and Limbaugh, and all of these people with corporate sponsers scare you with that Government takeover B.S. Tommy Douglas, And Tony Benn, Do your research guys.
Do you know Obama personally? We have to check power in this country or any democratic country for that matter. You have to ask the question "Why wouldnt he pass a bill to control lives? Maybe he has a perverted vision of irradicating obesity through healthcare, by perscribing mandatory exercise and diet to every individual American. Maybe he knows that government owning yet another faction of the private sector will further destroy "evil" profiteers. Learn about Stalin, do your research.
Sen. DeMint speaks the truth about Obama's preposterous "solution" to our health care troubles. Barack: Slow down, you move too fast.you got to make the country last.
Thank you Jim for speaking up for us, not letting this fake president thats will give all control to the government, wake up people its happen, by the way I'am BLACK
Ok you stupid idiots, I want to know about the actual numbers!! First of all according to Canadian census there are only 31 million friggin people in the damn country. We have 300 million people here. Second of all I dont think Tommy and Mouseland tried ramming it down the throats of their citizens in 30 days!!!!! The infrastructure of changing just the insurance coverage will be mind boggling let alone a complete healthcare change. We simply do not have the resourses at this time!!!!!!
government in every respect. He has done more damage to this country than any other president and he's been in office only 6 months. The American people will regret having put this socialist in office.........he wants to socialize everything he can get his hands on. I hope he doesn't get his hands on health care system.....If he does, we are all screwed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How irresponsible! DeMint should be tossed out of office on his ear. The man clearly doesn't have the public's interest in mind, but those of his corporate masters and petty party of whining do-nothings.
Grr... yourself, when will you people realize this is above political parties? Oh, yeah I guess thats what you do when you are cornered on something. Just like the defenders of Bush when the economic melt down started all they could do was point and blame the Democrats but truth be told the President was just as responcible as Bawney Fwank and Dodd! You cant trust these peole to run our healthcare!!!!!! What will we do in five years if Newt is running it and cutting every program?
1. re: You cant trust these peole to run our healthcare!!!!!
Versus the bean counters at insurance companies? Right, because they care more. A system that profits from denying health care isn't a health care system, but the opposite of one.
2. re: What will we do in five years if Newt is running it and cutting every program?
Not electing anyone who'd act as irresponsible near the levers of government.
Ok you miss my point. (some how Im not surprised) Obama and company is a little more powerful than "evil" insurance companies. They are making legistlation that would insure that no new policies are written and it WILL put insurance out of business. Read page 16 of the bill. If a government owns insurance eventually they will own health care primarily because private health care will not be able to keep up with government mandates to keep costs down. This may take a few years.
ANd to continue... But it will happen. I use Newt as an example because he is a reformer and what do reformers do? They slash and cut budgets to balance them just like in 1994. I remember you libs whining about him cutting school lunch programs and getting all butt hurt. Newt or who ever will have to clean up this apparatus one way or another to pay our debts and balance the budget. Dont be so confident that your party will hold power forever cuz the winds are a changin!
re: Dont be so confident that your party will hold power forever cuz the winds are a changin!
Time to the Magic 8-ball predictions down, Nostradamus, because the R's are on the verge of having their political epitaph written, delusional and in denial, and I'm an independent. They were fired for good reasons and aren't even close to coming near the levers of power again. That's reality. If they stand in the way of health care, it'll just speed up the process.
1. re: Obama and company is a little more powerful than "evil" insurance companies.
Perhaps, but they're not more powerful than dancing with those who brung 'em, like Frist and HCA, for example. That's what they're taking on. The American public may take a while to catch on but they don't back down when they know they're getting screwed. This time, they do.
If govt runs health care, a single-payer plan has my support because for-profit models aren't health care, but economic malfeasance.
Senator DeMint is one of the few patriots in the Washington whorehouse called the US Congress. This is nothing short of a complete government take over of our lives and has absolutely nothing to do with Insurance. In fact, 87% of the citizens of this country are happy with their current insurance so there is no "crisis" either. It's all a lie to grab more power and control over us slaves. Now, if we can convince him to demand Nobama show a COLB (in which he does not have), fraud exposed!
Congress shall make no law prohibiting an individual (including a group of individuals in voluntary association) from contracting with any physician, group of physicians, or other provider of goods or services in or related to the medical professions. Congress is prohibited, for any reason whatsoever, from funding or regulating any form of medical care, including any institutions for teaching, research, or development of technology in or related to the medical professions.
Dream on lib...60% of the American people TODAY are against Obamacare! A month from today that number will be in the seventies...it will be that left wing radical racist's waterloo..
actually, the slaveholders were democrats. liberals love to control things from auto's to healthcare to people. not much has changed in 150 years for the democrat party. thank god, the conservatives and the industries in the north stopped them. we must stop them again.
That was a time, long ago, when the Republican party was full of ideas and much more liberal. Today, there are no ideas left in that party and it's only full of social conservatives who are sex-starved and right wing fringe religious nut jobs. Good luck trying to stop anything with that mixture.
He believes that the government should investigate single female teacher & if any single female teacher is living with her boyfriend she should be fired.
But he doesn't apply the same standard to single male teachers who're living with their girlfriends.
I love how you brainless libs always comment on these videos. Go watch some obama lovin' video. There has to be a million of them somewhere. Next you will be agreeing with obama that Gates arrest was racial profiling. You probably dont even know that the officer that arrested him teaches a racial profiling class for the academy, and that the cambridge Mass. police chief WHO IS BLACK hand picked the officer and stands behind him in this matter. But obama mania will never report that.
Demint is making it very clear this wasn't personal and that it's Obama's Policies that should be stopped. He's alot like Bush when it comes to forces things onto the people with out being able to read the bill first, claiming it's the best for the people, and if it doesn't pass it will be the DOOM to the world...
DeMint is also FIGHTING hard to get HR 1207 & S 604 passed :) AUDIT THE FEDERAL RESERVE, check this bill out --> Please support it we need to make sure it passes.
DeMint makes it clear that it is Obama's policies that need to be stopped. In shorthand one could say stop Obama. So what! I'm glad to see people like DeMint standing in the way of this rush to socialism. Obama's plans will only make things worse. Too bad he never got an education in how free markets deliver good and services better than state run entities.
He believes that single woman who're living with their boyfriends should not be allowed to teach in schools, of course it's okay for single guys who're living with their girlfriends to teach in schools.
He wants banners hung in all schools saying "God Bless America".
And now he wants everyone who doesn't have health insurance to have the US government buy it for them FROM PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES -- GETTING EVEN MORE MONEY TO THEM!
husein obama is just trying to push this bill into effect before his ratings plumett. he doesn't care if he gets a second term as long as he brings socialism to america his goal is met. we need some real men like DeMint in congress

This man represents everything that is wrong in our country today.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 hahaha care to explain why? Or are you just going to lash out against conservatives that diverge from YOUR uninformed opinions?
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 This moron is miles out of the mainstream. During his run for Senate he was asked if he agreed with the S. Carolina Republican Party's platform calling for a law making illegal for gays to work in public schools. He said that he certainly supported such a law and took it one step further- he said that any unmarried woman who got pregnant shouldn't be allowed to work in public schools either! He is a seething hateful bigot and an unhinged extremist. Period.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 To me those incidents that you mentioned seem to be taken out of context. I can see why he would not want people like that working in public schools because they can potentially spread the wrong ideas to kids. I don't think that's enough to ban that person from working in a public school, but it seems to me like you're picking and choosing from what he spoke out against. I would like to know that my 7-year-old son is not being influenced by a homosexual that he supposed to look up to.
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 You are as much of a bigot as you are a moron. You know gay people, you've had gay teachers and so has your son. If you think they are any threat to you you are a fool. If you would support laws oppressing them for being themselves like Jim DeMint, then you are an evil bigot. Period. The things DeMint stands for are not "incidents"- rather, It's the perspective of a man who would oppress his fellow Americans. From your words it's clear you are the same.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 By the way, if you don't want your son to be influenced by any homosexuals you better keep him in the basement his whole life...or should I say closet?
Gay people throughout the world do all the things you admire- write books, play college and pro sports, compose music, invent important things, defend our country... the accomplishments of gay people are the accomplishments of the human race. To protect your son from all that, you'll need to remove him from the human race.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 The issue here is public schools where LITTLE kids would be influenced. I want my son knowing that it is wrong before he is influenced by it. This doesn't mean being prejudice against those people, it means accepting the person while not accepting their beliefs about homosexuality as correct. It's difficult for children to do that. I think using the word "oppress" is jumping to a conclusion again. "Banning from working in a public school" is very broad. I never said I supported that.
basketball579 1 year ago
@butuh13 First of all bro, look who is being the name-caller and "evil" bigot. You immediately jump to insults, why? It's pretty easy for someone to criticize others for taking a stand for what they believe in. What if I called you a bigot for disagreeing with a rapist who thinks it's ok to rape someone? What's wrong is wrong. I never said I hated homosexuals, you implied that. I don't want my kid learning that it is ok. Until he is old enough to understand it is wrong, I want to keep it away.
basketball579 1 year ago
@butuh13 Also, an unmarried woman who gets pregnant can easily send a message to kids that it's ok to have premarital sex. That's not a message I want my son learning either, so I can see where he is coming from. Maybe it was a bit far to say that they should not work in public schools altogether but he might specify himself if he were given the chance. I don't think it's right to just judge based on face value. He's taking a stand for beliefs and I disagree with premarital sex just like him.
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 Of course, you and Mr DeMint are free to to be hateful bigots at home, and to teach that bigotry to your children. But to think you can make LAWS enforcing your bigotry is another matter, and the rational, freedom loving majority of Americans will fight you all the way. Because most Americans don't oppose homosexuals or single mothers nearly as much as they oppose people like YOU and DEMINT.
The oppressors will always fall, and you are on the wrong side of history.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 It's talk like this that makes people hate politicians for no good reason. General Jerry Boykin praises DeMint on several different levels. Boykin is one of the most honorable people in the American military. I suggest having a conversation with DeMint before you judge based on a statement. Again, I don't hate homosexuals but homosexuality is wrong. Only 5 of 50 states currently allow gay marriage so that should tell you something. Ellen Degeneres is one of the funniest people I know of
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579
Liking Ellen DeGeneres doesn't change that.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 Before I go any further, I think you should check your facts. People are not born into homosexuality. There is no evidence that they are and I know several people who were homosexual at one point but came out of it, and supported the idea that it is not something you are born into. So you need facts if anything you say is going to be considered valid.
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 There is no further to go. If you know people who claim to have "come out" of there homosexuality (interesting choice of words, by the way...) I assure you they are in a distinct, almost microscopic minority. But it's beside the point. If you think that gay people are going to harm your child by teaching him US History or Math or even changing the light bulbs in the school hallway, and we need a LAW to discriminate against them, then you are a bigot.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 Dude a teacher is more than just someone who reviews the facts of history. Especially when they are teaching little kids. Children look up to their school teachers and their beliefs are bound to have an effect on that kid at some point or another. Again, did I ever say that I support a decision to ban these people from working in public schools? No.And I don't think that is exactly what DeMint would say if you were to have a conversation with him about it.The position in school matters.
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 I know plenty of gay people and not one of them believes their same sex attraction is a choice. Have you considered the possibility that the reason you don't know a similar number of life long homosexuals is that they are aware of your prejudice towards them?
And again I ask you- Is YOUR sexuality a CHOICE or has it been your orientation your whole life? Were you taught to be heterosexual? Could you COME OUT of it and try being gay?
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 I think you need more research than just talking to a select few gay people. Search Mike Haley. Go to narth.com and read a little. So yes I have made a choice based on my experiences my whole life to be heterosexual. I did not come out of the womb heterosexual when I didn't even know what sex was. I'm not saying it's someone's fault to be homosexual because they could have had bad experiences growing up. Mike Haley's story is a good example. He chose based on his experiences regardless.
basketball579 1 year ago
@butuh13 And there you go again with the prejudice thing. I am not prejudice towards these people just because I disagree with what they believe. It's like smoking. I disagree with a person's decision to smoke but I don't ban them from working in a public school. LAWS are still passed though, protecting people that don't smoke such as cities than ban smoking in public places. My university told people that they can't smoke near the entrances to buildings because it affects people that walk by.
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 You think being gay is a choice like smoking is a choice? Do you have any idea how ignorant that belief is? That one statement on your part makes you a bigot.
But I will ask you one more time and if you can't answer you will not hear from me again:
Is YOUR sexual orientation a choice? Like smoking?
I'm waiting.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 I already answered that bro. Look at my second post below. Did you bother reading it? I explained that people choose based on a variety of things like experiences and the way they were brought up. So YES, it is my CHOICE to be heterosexual. I already said that. If you search narth.com and read my post again below you would not think that is ignorant to say. If you had any better understanding about it, you would not say that.
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 You base your certainty that being gay is a choice on the story of one guy. It is certainly true that people who are sexually abused by someone of their own sex can become confused about their orientation. But that in no way accounts for millions of people- perhaps as much as 4% of the population who feel that have known their whole lives that they were gay. You choose to base your view on the exception and ignore the rule because doing so re-enforces your prejudice.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 Dude narth.com is a whole site devoted to figuring that stuff out. My point with Mike Haley is that he has been there and he believes for certain that it is based on experiences. I mean, how can you come out of the womb believing that you are naturally attracted to men? When was the first time you started liking another woman? Girls have "cooties" until the age of 15! Just look at the people who are researching it on the website... that's all I'm saying.
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 I gotta ask you- Do you really think it's unfair to hold Jim DeMint accountable for something he said while running for Senator in 2004?
I mean, conservatives tried to hold Obama accountable for things the pastor of his church said years ago, but I can't criticize DeMint for his own statements from 6 years ago?
How the hell does that work?

@butuh13 Sorry, you're an Obama supporter. I can't argue with you anymore. :)

@basketball579 I'm a supporter of holding politicians responsible for their bigotry.
butuh13 1 year ago
@basketball579 I just sent you an email with a quote from a S. Carolina paper that covered DeMints bigoted remarks during his Senate run.
If you really think your sexuality is a choice then I can only assume that, like choosing to stop smoking, you could "choose" to become gay.
Again- you have had gay teachers, you know gay people, you have gay people in your family, you interact with gay people every day. Your fear is not based on logic, it is based on your prejudice.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 Haha. Well the email cleared up that he was mistaken by what he said and at the end he said he wants the best for his children. Which was my point the whole time. So thank you for that and I want to ask you now, did you look up Mike Haley? He is an example of someone "choosing" not to be gay after being gay for a long time. I don't know where you get this idea that I have fear based on prejudice. I have evidence supporting what I believe.
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 He said he wants the best for his children...and that justifies his support for his party's call for a law making it illegal for gays to work in public schools. I know that to another bigot that is acceptable, but not to me.
I asked you if your orientation was a choice LIKE SMOKING- something you could quit. Could you cultivate an enjoyment for having sex with other men the way you could cultivate an enjoyment of smoking? If so, you need to have a serious talk with your wife.
butuh13 1 year ago
@butuh13 DeMint said he was mistaken. People took what he said at face value and he later apologized for how it came out. Then he clarified what his intentions were. I'm not saying DeMint is perfect either, everyone says things they regret, but I certainly see where he is coming from by wanting the best for his children. All this happened in 2004 by the way. That's a pretty old article and a pretty old argument. Why not focus on good decisions he has made recently?
basketball579 1 year ago
@basketball579 You take comfort in the fact that only 5 states allow gay marriage. But 10 years ago none did. Despite people like Gen Boykin's hateful fundamentalism, the US military will now allow gays to serve their country openly. You may not understand what Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness means, but most Americans do.
You and DeMint are on the wrong side of history and the wrong side of true freedom. This is a civil rights issue, and you will lose.

Why doesn't the media ever ask Barack Obama about his speech in 2003 when he claimed he wanted single payer healthcare and said that "we've got to take back the white house, and then we've got to take back the Senate...what we can do is stand up to the Republicans."

DeMint is a traitor to the United States! Why not go meet with Iran and undermine what's taking place over there now! LMFAO
MyRiseToHonor 2 years ago
@MyRiseToHonor
well, Kerry has already done that.
And how is DeMint a traitor? Name one thing that is unconstitutional that he has done.
EatPez 2 years ago
EP, Demint needs to keep his nose out of Honduras, much like Woodrow Wilson should have kept his little self out of South American Affairs! Affairs that the now leaders down there have yet to forget! Rather his actions are constitutional or not is your deal as you are the one who mentioned that word. Socialism this, communism that. Reagan said the same thing about Medicare! The same was said about Social Security! Kerry is a pussy who threw his Service Medals in a crowd! Screw him!
MyRiseToHonor 2 years ago
Nose out of Honduras? Maybe, but you said DeMint is a traitor to the US, not Honduras. Yes, I mentioned the Const, but you mentioned Traitor. In order to be a traitor, you must violate a the Const or violate a law. Again, name one law or Const artical/amendment that DeMint has violated.
What does Regan and Medicare have to do with anything?
EatPez 2 years ago
EP, DeMint clearly undermined the Commander and Chief while addressing a foreign nation. He would have been labeled a traitor for doing so during the Bush years. His actions are similar to Palin finding herself in a communist country (we owe billions to) speaking against the Commander and Chief. Rather you agree with Obama or not, their actions are anything but patriotic! Reagan? Given DeMint's position on health reform, the analogy is very relevant, though I don't fell like explaining it.
MyRiseToHonor 2 years ago
Just because DeMint is siding with the Constitution of Hondouras, doesn't mean he's undermining the POTUS and a pro-democracy stance would NOT have him labled as a traitor in the Bush years.
DeMint's stance on 'health reform' is pro-US Constitution. Not only that, but DeMint has his own plan on 'health reform' that the Dems won't allow into their bill (and we both know it's not 'health reform' or even 'healthcare reform', it's reform on how healthcare is paid for... all about the money.)
EatPez 2 years ago
Ep, undermining/obstruction is all the Right seems to know. Just months after 911, all were unified. Now, the divide between those that govern our lives has never been so vast. LOL, the only thing they agreed on was the 9 million to rebuild Gaza days after the inauguration! Fortunately for Republicants, Democants are cowards and won't use the "With Us Or Against Us" GW used. Health Reform? From Blue Dog Democants to Neocons, many are more interested in profit for the Big Insurance Companies.
MyRiseToHonor 2 years ago
EatPez 2 years ago
EP, ah, The Dixiecrats! G. Wallace, and S. Thurmond were Dixiecrats /Democrats who found a home in The Republican Party. Their rhetoric can be seen in today's Tea Party. Said group's illiterate signs are a watered down version of their predecessors! The Democants would have done themselves a service getting rid of the FB, it's now The Right's primary tool. The Right was clearly about profit for 8 years! They weren't so against government intrusion either, and in the name of "patriotism".
MyRiseToHonor 2 years ago
No, Wallace and Thurmond were DEMOCRATS at the time and Wallace was NEVER a Republican. The Dixiecrats were party that lasted long enough to run 1 presidential canditate. ooooo
What rhetoric are you talking about? Give me one popular quote from each movement.
Why do you keep trying to change the subject? Gvmnt 'intrusion'? Name ONE person who "patriots" have "intruded", and I'll show you a bill where the gvmnt wants to INTRUDE on every American Citizen.
What's FB stand for?
EatPez 2 years ago
EP, Thurmond deserved that new found home line exclusively. Bottom line, Dixiecrat rhetoric, ideology, whatever the Sam Hell you desire to call it, it's currently found on The Far Right! Look up some of those illiterate Tea Party signs where nigger is spelled nigar! I keep changing topics? ROTFF, WHATEVER! FB was my short for your mentioned filibuster while we are on the subject of changing topics! I already told you why this DeMint fuck is a traitor! I could care less if you concur!
MyRiseToHonor 2 years ago
I've looked up dozens of pics of Tea Party signs & never saw 1 racial remark. I did find that Sen Byrd (D, WV) was a Grand Wiz of the KKK WHILE serving as a US Senator. And Thrumond (D, SC) couldn't have FBed without his party's support. I also found that MLK was a registered Republican (listen to his speeches, you'll see he promotes the same ideals as the right). So, DeMint is a traitor cause he supports the Hondouran Cnst, Supreme Ct, & the citizens of Honduras? You gotta do better than that.
EatPez 2 years ago
EP, I've given you the comparison of DeMint's actions using Reagan's Era. Your lack of comprehension is your own issue. I could care less. At this point, we're talking just to talk. The fact you don't see the Republican Party as The Modern Dixiecrats due to their race based rhetoric is also your issue! Both parties are guilty of racism! W. Wilson kept Jim Crow going! Senator Reid buys into so-called Negro Dialect! DeMint, his little waterloo statement, and his real time motives are clear to me!
MyRiseToHonor 1 year ago
You did not make Reagan era comparisons, you only said that Reagan wouldn't like DeMint. I was the one who made comparisons. I haven't seen a single "nigger" tea party sign, and I looked. And just because DeMint wants to stop Obama's social agenda doesn't make his a racist. What's racist about Waterloo?? It was a historic battle between 2 (mostly) white armies. Your inability to make intellectual comparisons is YOUR issue.
EatPez 1 year ago
MyRiseToHonor 1 year ago
Dale Robertson does not operate anything for Tea Parties. He was at a rally with a racist sign, was kicked out of it and is not allowed into any more meetings. Tea Parties have been going on for over a year with 1.5-2 million showing up in DC, millions of others at local rallies, & you can only come up with ONE sign?? Awesome. The fact that you can't recognize blacks have attend and are welcome at Tea Party events, is your isue.
Once the insults start coming, you know who has lost. Thanks.
EatPez 1 year ago
EP, again, your opinion is your opinion. Your observation and participation with your word redirection is played out. You're clearly right and wouldn't know the middle if you fell in it. I gave you one sign because that's all I intend on giving! LOL, there is nothing to prove to you after your one sided commentary here. By the way, Dale pretty much nailed Palin and who she really is yesterday. I'm getting tired of you telling me about my race, troller! Troller isn't an insult, it's what you are.
MyRiseToHonor 1 year ago
EP, since we are going against your grain and changing the topic, your mention of MLK is a joke at best! Countless Afro Americans voted Republican (when they were allowed to do so) long after emancipation and up to their ideological shift concerning Black People! Coincidentally, it was within the timeframe of Thurmond's (D) switch to The Republican Party! Since then more Afro Americans have voted primarily Democrat. Likening today's Republican Party to the one from the past is laughable!
MyRiseToHonor 1 year ago
WE? are going against my grain? Got a mouse in your pocket? No, Blacks started voting Dem during FDR's term, when JST was still in college. Have you read the first Rep Charter of 1854? Not much has changed. Who freed the slaves? How many Dems voted for the 13th Amndmnt? Who appointed first black Sec of State? first black delegates? black US Senator? black key note speaker? black Sec of Labor? Chairman of a national party? Sec of Trans? black Supreme Ct Justice? National Security Advsr? Atty Gen?
EatPez 1 year ago
EP, correction, I don't feel like explaining it. Know that there is no disrespect intended by my saying that. I feel the past plays it's part now, and can be used as a learning tool regardless of one's political affiliation. I could go on and on about Reagan for days. One thing is for certain, he would scoff at the so-called conservatives of today. I wonder how he would have viewed DeMint's siding with a foreign nation contrary to a position he would have taken in his time?
MyRiseToHonor 2 years ago
Yes, the past plays a a part in today, but this discussion is about you declairing DeMint as a US traitor. No, Reagan would scoff at the Republicans of today, not conservs. Reagan would've sided against DeMint in Hondouras? Hmmm... how did Reagan side against West Germany? Russia in Afghanistan? Contras in Nicaragua? Lebanon, Granada, Lybia? Given Reagan's record, I would say he would've seen eye-to-eye with DeMint.

False Promises??
Demint's "plan" involves giving every family without employer insurance a 5K tax credit or voucher (depending on income) to buy health insurance.
Hello...do the math.
30 million families x 5K x 10 years is $1.5 trillion
Thats more than the Dems propose. And then you can't buy a good family policy for only 5K. The insurance companies would love it though. Lots of those high deductible polices that hardly ever get used and are "profit centers" as they like to say.

4. Obama has said how he's going to pay for it, Do your research.
rickosuave29 2 years ago
1. Obama's Plan is not a Government Takeover
2. He's not going to let the Public insurer eat from the taxpayer's pot without having to actually earn money just like the private insurance companies, except it will be better because they'll find ways to cut costs, and won't cheat people.
rickosuave29 2 years ago
Do you know how ridiculous repubs look when they criticize Obama, but offer no solutions to the problem, Demint is one of the senators of my state, I know he's a prick, who's just looking out his republican interests. Him and that prick Linday Graham, they're just like the rest of the bigots in my state who pretend they want what's best for everybody. I don't have to know them I know what they've said. My question to you guys is why are you letting these Repubs lie to you?
rickosuave29 2 years ago
Healthcare is a crisis, and they wouldn't have to try to fix it during a recession if other presidents had taken care of this problem before, I imagine Obama feels if he doesn't do it, it'll never get done. "Wait, wait, we can't do it now, slow down Obama, it's too soon". Well we've had Decades and Decades to do this, when will it be time? when? Procrastinating is what got us into this, and Bush is more like Stalin than Obama, devastating a whole nation to control a region that is rich in oil
rickosuave29 2 years ago
And another thing lets do comparibles here. Socialized medicine is only accomplished with small populations i.e. Canada, UK, are supposedly the best but the U.S has 300 million people!!! It is not going to be deficit neutral that is fricking impossible. Medicare and Medicaid money is a drop in the bucket. We are the last significant free market health care in the world. What will our fall do for the rest of the world? Governments will determine what drugs are made, the end.

2.
ConnorTiernan 2 years ago
1. A FEW PROPOSALS FOR REFORM
ConnorTiernan 2 years ago
I'm with the saying, criticize the poposals and policies, not he motives of those bringing them.
And especially in this case, there's more than enough problems with this bloated mess of a bill on the merits.
For Starters:
- There's no wasy to pay for it without massive tax hikes during a recession
- Nobody's showing how it makes care more efficient, better or more economical.
- There's no reason to believe an administration that's failed at all else will suddenly get this right.
ConnorTiernan 2 years ago
I love your proposals especially the last one. Why should I pay doctors fees for a skin rash? Thank you for your insight.
granitehills2t 2 years ago
ConnorTiernan 2 years ago 2
You Right Wing Propaganda robots need to wake up! why would Obama pass a bill simply to have more control our lives? His mother died of cancer, he knows the troubles of our Healthcare system He's a man trying to do what should have been done a long time ago, and that is bring desperately needed Healthcare reform to America. You let Demint and Limbaugh, and all of these people with corporate sponsers scare you with that Government takeover B.S. Tommy Douglas, And Tony Benn, Do your research guys.
rickosuave29 2 years ago
Do you know Obama personally? We have to check power in this country or any democratic country for that matter. You have to ask the question "Why wouldnt he pass a bill to control lives? Maybe he has a perverted vision of irradicating obesity through healthcare, by perscribing mandatory exercise and diet to every individual American. Maybe he knows that government owning yet another faction of the private sector will further destroy "evil" profiteers. Learn about Stalin, do your research.

You cant trust these peole to run our healthcare!!!!!! What will we do in five years if Newt is running it and cutting every program?
granitehills2t 2 years ago
1. re: You cant trust these peole to run our healthcare!!!!!
Versus the bean counters at insurance companies? Right, because they care more. A system that profits from denying health care isn't a health care system, but the opposite of one.
2. re: What will we do in five years if Newt is running it and cutting every program?
Not electing anyone who'd act as irresponsible near the levers of government.
rasaxSF 2 years ago
Ok you miss my point. (some how Im not surprised) Obama and company is a little more powerful than "evil" insurance companies. They are making legistlation that would insure that no new policies are written and it WILL put insurance out of business. Read page 16 of the bill. If a government owns insurance eventually they will own health care primarily because private health care will not be able to keep up with government mandates to keep costs down. This may take a few years.
granitehills2t 2 years ago

If they stand in the way of health care, it'll just speed up the process.
rasaxSF 2 years ago
1. re: Obama and company is a little more powerful than "evil" insurance companies.

This is nothing short of a complete government take over of our lives and has absolutely nothing to do with Insurance. And now he wants everyone who doesn't have health insurance to have the US government buy it for them FROM PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES -- GETTING EVEN MORE MONEY TO THEM!
