That looks like a General Motors compressor, that type was on the 1960's and 70's models here. My van had one of those, but I now am running a Sanden after switching to R-134a.
yep. its a GM compressor. jags most cars used those in the old days. i could have put a nipendeso compressor on but i got a new MG one for $170. it worked real good on the 51'c day we had. 3.6'c at the vents at 1500rpm with R-134a
how does the compressor turn on?
is it a power wire that feeds power to the compressor that then allows a load to be placed on the motor?

so you mean the compressor stays on all the time and you just had it gassed? is it cold?
