  • Love the way you explain the things you do with the bees. The area you live in seems to have a lot of flowers for the bees. Which area do you live in Australia? Want to move to Australia and do not know where would be great for beekeeping.

  • @African5555 Hi Joe, thanks for that. I reckon we live in the best part of the world here. We live about a 100k. north of Brisbane in what we call the "Sunshine Coast". I don't really know where the best place would be for beekeeping. I've only been a part-timer. I think the full time blokes migrate their hives & chase the honey flows around the country. I can make some inquiries next time I pick up some foundation. I'm thinking the north coast of N.S.W. or W. of that a bit.bye Joe.

  • Hey jef great vid man. I like the look of your bees. It is nice to see lots of brood. It is interesting to see the Langstrogh hive, That is what you have isn't it. We have half sises supers here and full size brood chambers. It means you don't have to lift full honey chambers. I like your hives though better as you can interchange the frames. The queen was a nice one :) Bye for now...

  • @workwithnature Thanks David, your spot on with the main advantage using full depth for brood & honey. Like on the video, I take 3 out, if their full of honey. I find lifting 6 frames quite comfortable. People are amazed when I get them to lift a full box of stickies & then ask them to attempt a full box of honey. They'd be forgiven for thinking the box was nailed down to the table. anyway, i'm off to the bees again, take care, cheers from Jeff

  • Great video Jeff. If I may ask, what is the purpose of the little mat you had in the top super?

  • @stepheninva Hi there stephen, thanks for that, you may have noticed i have a recess in the lids, the mat stops the bees building comb straight up to the lid, making it difficult to remove, sometimes they'll fill between the lid & mat, but it's still easy to remove the lid. Sometimes i put a smaller mat on top of the big mat to give the beetle somewhere to hide, then i get an idea how bad the beetle are.The recess in the lid full of bees not doing anything indicates to me it's time for swarm control.

  • Hi J @ W. another great video.

  • @eastoftboy Thanks for that Peter, I hope all's well over there
