@IcolossusPSN phahahaahahahahahhahahahah OH WOW - an atom in the microbe in the nucleus in a cell of a tiny pimple on his great ass has more talent on it than you will ever hope to muster - now go suck on your grandads dick and proceed to crawl back under your fucking bridge that you dwell under you uneducated piece of trolling shit...
The guy has so much rhythm. That - in my humble opinion - is what makes him so good to listen to. You just feel every note is part of a larger scheme of things, that it's going somewhere. Technically brilliant - of course; good singer - no doubt. But just feel the music, it says it all.
Never get tired of watching Tommy, and what's even cooler: I've blown the dust off my old Yamaha and begun playing again. I can't do what he does, but what I really dig is how much fun he's obviously having, and it's VERY contagious.
I just listened to this for first time.Love it! Thank you for posting these. What concert is this? The comments are blocked from Lewis and Clark from same concert.; It is the best version of Lewis and Clark (I think). Would love to have been there. Saw Tommy with Frank Vignola at Mountain View, AR last Saturday. They were both fantastic. Thanks~*
man i wish the sound quality was better, but even with horrid sound quality that was one of the most amazing things I've ever heard. How does he get so much sound out of one guitar???
@thelight43tdubb And to mention... it's tuned down 1 1/2 steps, so the sound will be more ''ballsy'' b/c of the looser strings, and Maton guitars used 18v pre amps, which adds some huge power.
Tommy is definitely number 1. Look at the level he has taken his music - not to mention he usually plays on an acoustic which makes it much harder. You show me anyone who is as fun to watch AND plays with as much personality, feeling, and emotion as Tommy and I'll delete this comment.
He is fantastic to say the least but I wouldn't just point the finger at any one guitarist and say they are the best when the likes of Mark Knopfler, Lindsey Buckingham are equally fantastic.
Groove, melody, power, passion... The best overall musician of the decade. Every human being would drop the jaw watching this. We are so lucky to live and see that... Damn..!
Amazing! Best I have ever heard, I do believe. God given guitar immortality. I am going to see him in concert with Ricky Skaggs in a couple of weeks in Montgomery,Alabama! Master of Guitar(Tommy) with Master of Mandolin(Ricky)!
@shooterpcb I want to thank you for introducing me to Ricky Skaggs; he is unfortunately unheard of in Europe. I'm not generally in to country or American Southern music that much (with the exception of newgrass and progressive country), but Ricky Skaggs was just blowing me away! Thanks!
in my opinion no. He's good, and some of the stuff he did with Cream was amazing- but he's not one of the best. He wouldn't be on MY top 5 anyway. But that's the great thing about music- it's all opinion
Ummm listen, when your this good its not practicing 14 hours a day. It's closer to basking in the glory of a fully body orgasm for 14 hours then having to sleep and eat and get to do it all over again.
everytime i get down or frustrated with my guitar i just watch him play and he just inspires me to keep playing my guitar hours on end, i read he he still practices 12 to 14 hr.s a day...
You can see this Tommy's face melting into the music, tunning out of the world. He plays like the guitar is automated... every note and rythem so perfect and the sound of the strings ringing back to back... just amazing...
Ok, either he was born with 70 fingers, born with a guitar in his hands or the guitar was born in the hands of Tommy. I cant tell which, but one thing is for sure. Not even with 200yrs of practice could I play like that.
no it does not that is tommy all over the music is going through him just like it goes through me just look at his face and body posture you can tell he love's it
I love Tommy, and this has got some serious grunt - but dammit, I wish he wouldn't get so freaking carried away with the solos all the time, it ruins the swing when he goes all jazz bebopy.
Actually the swing is still there one he establishes the underlying pulse - you can feel it. You notice he then comes in on perfect timing if you clap the rhythm. If he doesn't embellish, it is just another version of a great song
I think you you misunderstand what I mean wowjef. The solo is great until about 2.04, where he does that bluegrassy bebop run. Aside from just being too much, it's not in tune with the bluesy feel to the song. I just wish Tommy would stop showing off for the sake of it. We all know he's incredible, there's no need to prove it with overthetop solos.
Pinky: I actually think the bit between 1:47-9 is kind of out of whack rather than 2:04 - it is like an exercise that has no feel or swing. I think the biggest problem with Youtube with such a brilliant artist is that if you watch enough clips about Tommy you start to see the same mannerisms, clothing, musical jokes, and excesses, etc. I think that is really unfair to Tommy. An artist cannot re-invent him/herself every night, but still needs to vary things in a spontaneous way as Tommy does.
I went to see Tommy live in Melbourne in mid-90s when he was playing electric guitar. That afternoon I stepped in front of a car (not paying attention), was knocked 20 yards, but got up, limped home with no broken bones, got changed and went to a brilliant concert.
Tommy is just totally awesome! One of the coolest live solo performances that I've ever seen! WOW!!!! Every time I watch this, I'm in disbelief! Just can't believe what I'm seeing here!
Raised in a traveling gypsy family, he was nurtured on the sounds of a 1960s Gibson acoustic, destined to walk the path of musicianship to become an Untouchable. He has become the embodiment of instrumental proficiency. If Chuck Norris also walked the fretboard of guitar, Tommy would be his guide, for he is set apart from all men.
never heard of him until february this year, bought tickets to his show in may,got totally blown away by his music and the way he handles the guitar, such passion and feeling. im addicted to the end of my days

GRANDE!!! said a dude at the begining of the video... In italian tongue it means BIG!!! I think this concert was in Italy, I hope Tommy Emmanuel will come back soon in Italy.
He definitely redefines acoustic guitar playing-singing skills each time he plays and sings.
I wish Elvis could have listened to this.
