  • He definitely redefines acoustic guitar playing-singing skills each time he plays and sings.

I wish Elvis could have listened to this.

This is epic story telling not just playing and singing.

  • this man has balls.... hell yeah!!!

  • the woman talking in the background...can that be taken out?

  • elvis is a hard act to follow.

  • 14 people forgot to press the play button WOW

  • He owns this song. Heck , he owns every song he plays. The master !

  • Bu ne ya ? Kudurmuş deli herif....

  • damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn white boy is sick with it!!!!! the ending was straight massacre

    !

  • @IcolossusPSN phahahaahahahahahhahahahah OH WOW - an atom in the microbe in the nucleus in a cell of a tiny pimple on his great ass has more talent on it than you will ever hope to muster - now go suck on your grandads dick and proceed to crawl back under your fucking bridge that you dwell under you uneducated piece of trolling shit...

  • @IcolossusPSN

    hahahahahahahahahahaha. In your ass maybe

  • Ever since I heard Tommy Play I never thought anyone else could

  • " GRANDEEE" xD

  • A big Fuck Yes for being Aussie!

  • like a ringin a bell!

  • The guy has so much rhythm. That - in my humble opinion - is what makes him so good to listen to. You just feel every note is part of a larger scheme of things, that it's going somewhere. Technically brilliant - of course; good singer - no doubt. But just feel the music, it says it all.

  • nailed it mate!!!!!

  • better than elvis!;)

  • the only problem is hes australian

  • Shit... he can play... he can play hard.

  • like we finnish people say "kova äijä" "tough guy".......

  • gr8 stuff!!

  • never heard of tommy until seen his name listing to hank 3 or kid rock not sure which one, but anyway wow this man is awesome

  • 1:58-2:02 wtf ftw

  • Never get tired of watching Tommy, and what's even cooler: I've blown the dust off my old Yamaha and begun playing again. I can't do what he does, but what I really dig is how much fun he's obviously having, and it's VERY contagious.

    Thanks for posting!

  • I think he is banned from using an Electric; scientists predict that he could burn the whole universe down with a les paul.

  • @Jayakiran1 Haha love it

  • @Jayakiran1 Nice comment - I think your right !

  • I just listened to this for first time.Love it! Thank you for posting these. What concert is this? The comments are blocked from Lewis and Clark from same concert.; It is the best version of Lewis and Clark (I think). Would love to have been there. Saw Tommy with Frank Vignola at Mountain View, AR last Saturday. They were both fantastic. Thanks~*

  • That solo he did on the guitar was so awesome.

  • 3:46 - 4:07

The fakin best rock guitar blues solo in fakin rock history of all fakin time

    ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

i do like it, i swear

  • Elvis -> sh1t

    Tommy -> AAAAAwesome

  • man i wish the sound quality was better, but even with horrid sound quality that was one of the most amazing things I've ever heard. How does he get so much sound out of one guitar???

  • @thelight43tdubb He's Tommy Emmanuel, you don't ask how he does it ... You just sit back in amazement and watch the legend at work.

  • @thelight43tdubb And to mention... it's tuned down 1 1/2 steps, so the sound will be more ''ballsy'' b/c of the looser strings, and Maton guitars used 18v pre amps, which adds some huge power.

  • gona see this guy in the waterfront hall, belfast in november, SO CANT WAIT

  • The guy is a genius

  • Now, that's a great live performer.

  • i saw his special on pbs and it was the only thing i watched for a whole month

  • did he just bend his whole guitar for a wammy effect? ... O.o

  • his solo was fuckin insane!!

  • This guy just exploded my face.

  • whoo! baby

  • 3:50 WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!!!

  • My volume cannot go high enough to give me enough satisfaction.

  • 2:29 is epic !

  • Never anyone in history did this, Jesus fuckin Christ!!!

Everything Tommy do is absolutely astonishing.

  • if this aint rocking.........my god what a version

  • thats the strongest guitar ive ever seen i bet he beats that thing worse than his wife

  • @onixtheone haha

  • dam he defines virtuoso!!!!!

  • fk he's amazing

  • this is the kind of song you can pop a beer and move your head to this guy is insane

  • HOLY FU@#ING CHRIST!!!!!!

  • This guy is so entertaining at concerts!

  • He's the best acoustic guitar player. He's enjoyable and enthusiastic. What a showman!

  • Tommy is definitely number 1. Look at the level he has taken his music - not to mention he usually plays on an acoustic which makes it much harder. You show me anyone who is as fun to watch AND plays with as much personality, feeling, and emotion as Tommy and I'll delete this comment.

  • Tommy is hands down the best guitar player. He is better then all previous guitar players and will probably stay king of guitar long into the future.

  • He is fantastic to say the least but I wouldn't just point the finger at any one guitarist and say they are the best when the likes of Mark Knopfler, Lindsey Buckingham are equally fantastic.

  • Knopfler? You dont play guitar do you?

Listen to what Steve Vai says about this guy.

  • @TOGLeevers Except the fact that they are really NOT the same thing as this man.

  • this guys are really good and stop speaking J H !

  • sweet, sweet lord.

  • Groove, melody, power, passion... The best overall musician of the decade. Every human being would drop the jaw watching this. We are so lucky to live and see that... Damn..!

  • Amazing! Best I have ever heard, I do believe. God given guitar immortality. I am going to see him in concert with Ricky Skaggs in a couple of weeks in Montgomery,Alabama! Master of Guitar(Tommy) with Master of Mandolin(Ricky)!

  • @shooterpcb I want to thank you for introducing me to Ricky Skaggs; he is unfortunately unheard of in Europe. I'm not generally in to country or American Southern music that much (with the exception of newgrass and progressive country), but Ricky Skaggs was just blowing me away! Thanks!

  • Coulda hadda bedda colour Shirt..Ha

  • He's very cool, but in his own style!

I think Stevie Ray Vaughn is the best!

    Rock n' blues player!

  • Can anyone tell me if he ever recorded this for a cd?!?!

  • What I think separates Emmanuel is his style...

I think he could probably do everything Hendrix and guys like that could do...

But I don't think Hendrix could do things like what Emmanuel does.

  • Errr... 5 isnt enough. Prob sth like this:

    1. Jimi

    2. Tommy E

    3. Chet Atkins

    4. SRV

    5. Robert johnson

but bb neeeds to be in there too... argh.

I agree, clapton doesnt cut top-5 for me. good player, but not top-5. maybe not even top 10...

  • Good choice!

  • lol

  • gibbon

  • he is the one

  • A year ago if anyone would have asked me who's the best guitar player I would have said Eric Clapton but now?,,,,,sorry Eric! 5*****

  • I am sure he will understand when he see Tommy.

  • Top 5 guitarists- now go!

(just find who people rate interesting)

  • U- GO

  • ahh God this is harder than I thought!

erm My personal favourites, in terms of to listen to would be:

    1. Jimi Hendrix

    2. Don Ross

    3. B.b King

    4. Michael Hedges

    5. Newton Faulkner- Yes I know he's a pop artist but He is actually I really talented guitarist too

  • Wait a minute! I don't see my name on that list? (: . .... I would find your list hard to argue with (:

  • 6. NCLUSA

  • Funny!. maybe three trillion and six (:

  • Clapton?

  • in my opinion no. He's good, and some of the stuff he did with Cream was amazing- but he's not one of the best. He wouldn't be on MY top 5 anyway. But that's the great thing about music- it's all opinion

  • I don't know about skill but music-wise my favourite guitarists are:

    1) Tommy Emmanuel

    2) Pierre Bensusan

    3) Don Ross

    4) Masaaki Kishibe

    5) Ulli Boegershausen

  • this guy and chet in the top 5 for sure

and this is coming from a metalhead

  • Its funny... It looks a bit like me on my first guitarlesson..

  • i did it better

  • fantastic..!!

  • I need to practice more!! (T_T)

  • my jaw just dropped to the floor

  • Ridiculous! Tommy is beyond amazing! I love this rendition!

  • TOMMY SEI UN ARTISTA FENOMENALE!!!!!

  • good jam!

  • One word ... Righteous!

  • its disheartening knowing i'll never play like that lol

  • Too much

    Too fast

    Yes yes yes......

Except he never stumbles....perfect timing and intonation.

Those crazy Australians. Breaking all the rules.

Sometimes I just have to see Tommy blow out

all the stops and to hell with the critics.

    Yes Tommy.

    Do that thing.

    Wow.

  • Speechless...

  • most scintillating solo i have ever heard....

  • Ummm listen, when your this good its not practicing 14 hours a day. It's closer to basking in the glory of a fully body orgasm for 14 hours then having to sleep and eat and get to do it all over again.

  • freakky shit T ! , u're one with the guitar !

  • YOU ARE A GIFT!!!!!!THE BEST!!!!!!!

  • Awesome!

  • everytime i get down or frustrated with my guitar i just watch him play and he just inspires me to keep playing my guitar hours on end, i read he he still practices 12 to 14 hr.s a day...

  • godgod

  • Yeah, this guy is great, I watched a couple other videos of him playing too.

  • A video truly worthy of the 5 stars!!!

  • I just shake my head in amazement everytime i see him play... OMG! I cant fathom how you can get that good... brilliant!

  • this guy is a fucking god...fuck..

  • AWESOME!!!REGARD Laszlo

  • he rocks !!!!!!!!

  • Sort of a woundup Fred Neil (RIP).

  • You can see this Tommy's face melting into the music, tunning out of the world. He plays like the guitar is automated... every note and rythem so perfect and the sound of the strings ringing back to back... just amazing...

  • Ok, either he was born with 70 fingers, born with a guitar in his hands or the guitar was born in the hands of Tommy. I cant tell which, but one thing is for sure. Not even with 200yrs of practice could I play like that.

  • you're right!!! he is awesome

  • ive never heard him sing

  • Man he dominates that guitar...pure domination!

  • Tommy was a teacher's night mare; Tommy suddenly became the teacher's teacher.

  • REWELACJA!!!

  • best show of Tommy's vocal skills, and agressive guitar playing. If Elvis is king, then Tommy is emperor :D

  • your right deadzior, his vocals are pretty good here, a nice change from his usually average singing results.

  • Seriously Tommy - just between us what planet do You come from?!

Get very well very soon and make a stop at The Capitol Center in Concord New Hampshire where your fans are legion.

  • If it took one soul for Robert Johnson to be as good as he was, I can't imagine what Tommy paid for HIS skills.

  • no it does not that is tommy all over the music is going through him just like it goes through me just look at his face and body posture you can tell he love's it

  • I love Tommy, and this has got some serious grunt - but dammit, I wish he wouldn't get so freaking carried away with the solos all the time, it ruins the swing when he goes all jazz bebopy.

  • Pinky0926:

Actually the swing is still there one he establishes the underlying pulse - you can feel it. You notice he then comes in on perfect timing if you clap the rhythm. If he doesn't embellish, it is just another version of a great song

  • I think you you misunderstand what I mean wowjef. The solo is great until about 2.04, where he does that bluegrassy bebop run. Aside from just being too much, it's not in tune with the bluesy feel to the song. I just wish Tommy would stop showing off for the sake of it. We all know he's incredible, there's no need to prove it with overthetop solos.

  • Pinky: I actually think the bit between 1:47-9 is kind of out of whack rather than 2:04 - it is like an exercise that has no feel or swing. I think the biggest problem with Youtube with such a brilliant artist is that if you watch enough clips about Tommy you start to see the same mannerisms, clothing, musical jokes, and excesses, etc. I think that is really unfair to Tommy. An artist cannot re-invent him/herself every night, but still needs to vary things in a spontaneous way as Tommy does.

  • I went to see Tommy live in Melbourne in mid-90s when he was playing electric guitar. That afternoon I stepped in front of a car (not paying attention), was knocked 20 yards, but got up, limped home with no broken bones, got changed and went to a brilliant concert.

  • he's done a litle Sting into that. genius!

  • For randomstuff3201: your reply it's for YOU! Jackass

  • Fuck!!!

  • Tommy is just totally awesome! One of the coolest live solo performances that I've ever seen! WOW!!!! Every time I watch this, I'm in disbelief! Just can't believe what I'm seeing here!

  • Genius!

  • awesome song, awesome playing, awesome combination of Elvis and Tommy's genius

  • the man is not from this planet. no way. no human being can play like that. no way, no how. nope. noooooooooooooo, don't believe so. :-)

  • He is not The King. He is more than that.

Raised in a traveling gypsy family, he was nurtured on the sounds of a 1960s Gibson acoustic, destined to walk the path of musicianship to become an Untouchable. He has become the embodiment of instrumental proficiency. If Chuck Norris also walked the fretboard of guitar, Tommy would be his guide, for he is set apart from all men.

    He is El Guitaro.

  • fukin hell that guitar takes sum punishment!

  • This guitar has an 18 volt pre-amp system in it... I just searched!!! i was wrong before.

    Sorry

  • I heard Tommy has 18 V amp which gives it this huge sound!!! I wish I had it! lol

    thx for posting

  • he's ok i suppose..

but i bet he doesnt know A minor..! lol

i seen TE live in Ireland.. WOW!!

  • all i can say is WOW.......... speechless

  • effortless :>

  • If only Elvis's had sounded as cool as this, might of had a few more fans.....erm..

  • Dude if Elvis had anymore fans they'd have staged a coupe and pronounce him a real King. Tommy would still pwn him though lol

  • The guy is an absolute genious... What more can i say?

  • Been watching TE play live gigs since the late70s early 80s and to this day he still just blows me away!!!! What an amazing guitarist.

  • Only Tommy could give "Clapton, Joe Walsh, Joni Mitchell, and Page and hourly lesson, wow

  • Speachelless !!

  • never heard of him until february this year, bought tickets to his show in may,got totally blown away by his music and the way he handles the guitar, such passion and feeling. im addicted to the end of my days

    TE your the man.

  • But before he got there, he must for sure have originated from the Guitar Planet!! (watch till the end to see why..)

  • It's called planet Australia!

  • this guy is from another planet. Probably the best guitar player I have ever seen, and I'm a metal head for life.

  • none better!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think he just out performed Elvis:0 not on voice though

  • Kickass! Didn't know he had such a good voice. Tommy Rocks!

  • yeaaaaaaaaahhhhh

I love this.... groove! great tune 1 1/2 down.

what a sound! long live the blues

  • Tommy at the end of the song sounds just like James Taylor doing Steamroller blues....it's freaky cool.

  • Shite.

  • Buckethead ? - more about heavey metal technique than anything else. Comparison to TE! LOL

  • You've got to be kidding me! This Man plays like the rest of us dream about playing. He's not just fast, he's creative and very clever about it. Wow! Don in Sac. CA.

  • what a sick song!

  • He is very freakin' good. As far as the Stevie Ray comments go, well, Stevie is dead, as is Jimi. But if you want freakishly crazy guitar playing, type Buckethead in the search window and prepare to be blown the hell away.

  • surely rather than buckethead you could search satriani, steve vai or.. malmsteen? and be blown much further away (all opinion i suppose though)

tommy beats em all anyway :P

  • Wooo I'm going to see him in march. I cant wait!

  • What tuning use tommy? Open-D? The bass E is a D and the A is a G maybe.. it's possible?

  • euphemistic (7 months ago)

    C# F# B E G# C#

    sorry

  • sti gran cazzi!

  • Almost beats Stevie Ray , o.k , I call it even, Great !!!

  • Tommy is the best in the world at what he does but Stevie Ray is the very, very best and thats that.

  • gotta love how much he enjoys himself entertaining people

  • The best guitar player in the world. A wonderful

    performer.

  • BEST GUITAR PLAYER EVER!!!

  • I'm sorry to burst this bubble, but it turns out that as many of us feared, Tommy is a robot. No man CAN actually play that well. Ho hum.

  • GRANDE!!! said a dude at the begining of the video... In italian tongue it means BIG!!! I think this concert was in Italy, I hope Tommy Emmanuel will come back soon in Italy.

  • man
