  • The best .

  • great vid and music

  • No MMA fighter will ever entertain like this man. My favorite MMA fighter ever. Improvisation. Tactics, Entertainment. Unreal what this guy was in his prime. Not just one of the greatest Japanese fighters but one of the greatest fighters ever. If the UFC had a fore father....Saku should be one of them. God I miss Pride.......

  • one of the best japanese fighters ever alive i agree that he was very balanced and skilled in submissions also just for laughs im 100% sure that he was not on steroids so his penis is way bigger than royce gracies XD

  • I cried watching this vid

  • i think SCROGY is an idiot thumbs up if you agree

  • @alisandri523 I think you are a sad pathetic little human that needs other's approval to validate your BS.

  • even the roided version of gracie got spanked

  • @alisandri523 You do realise that Decca isn't a great steroid for strength and is generally used theraputically for sore joints right?

  • @SCROGY Royce tested positive for Nandrolone, an anabolic steriods.

  • @alisandri523 YES I KNOW. It's also called Deca.......short for Nandralone DECAnoate. A steroid commonly used to heal joints. After decades of Jiu JItsu Royce's joints are likely shot.

  • @SCROGY lol yeah right.

  • @SCROGY lol shot joints riiiighht its steroids, stop making excuses, face it your bjj idol royce is a cheat and bribed the judges on the rematch.

  • @alisandri523 Go look it up buddy. Decca is a steroid that is most commonly used to heal joints. Instead of being a pompous ass try researching Decca and what it's primarily used for before talking out of your ass. If you can't find the info I'll provide the links for you

  • @SCROGY yeah its an anabolic steroids of course it will heal your joints, that heals many things in you, joints, muscle etc, it helps you heal faster overall, therefore making you train more than normal = cheating, only fan boys in denial like you will believe he didnt use it for cheating , look it up, how much royce wiehgt in the remacth compared to the first fight. educate yourself and go play with your video games. youre a 41 yr old who still play video games. bye. what a loser.

  • @alisandri523 Yeah and you're a shit talking 18 year old child that thinks you know it all. You obviously have not done Jiu Jitsu because if you did you'd know that after a lifetime in the sport your joints are fucked. I have been doing BJJ for ten years and I can tell you that you suffer so many injuries that you are crippled by middle age. But you wouldn't know that because you're a piss ant internet warrior. And yeah I play V-games. Just another thing I do better than you. Deal with it.

  • @SCROG bjj for 10 yrs ha ha! youre obviously just a 41 yr old nerd who likes to play video games.

  • @alisandri523 .........a 41 year old that has forgotten more about training/steroids/strength than you'll ever know. You're a shit talker who pretends to know something but then looks like a complete fucking moron when you talk shit to someone who actually does. Don't even try to hang with me when it comes to knowledge of this stuff. I have spent more time training and resaerching than you have been alive kiddo.

  • @alisandri523 .........and for the record I don't even like Royce Gracie. But keep making stupid assumptions little one.

  • And as far as his weight. Decca is known to cause water retention. It was a dumb choice of steroid to use on Royces part. There are much better steroids to use if you want strength or improved speed/athleticism. No one in their right mind uses Decca because it kinda sucks for anything other than healing your joints and it's EASY TO CATCH ON A 'ROID TEST. The fact that he chose Decca pretty much is proof that he wanted to heal his joints. If he wanted anything other than.......

  • @SCROGY the fact that he still denies he ever took anything and says he weighed the same for the 2nd Saku fight as he did for all his other fights at 176lbs(his typical weigh in weight and what he weighed for the Hughe's fight) when his actual weigh in weight was 188lbs, shows he knew he was doing something wrong. in any event, he cheated, he got caught and was suspended. Had the CASC had a rule for it at the time, the decision would've been overturned.

  • @panther2552 And I made it clear that it was stupid. What was really stupid is that Decca is very easy to catch as it stays in the tissue for up to two years and slowly diffuses thru your body. I can't understand why he would take it unless he was a total dumbass and knew nothing about steroids, was lied to by some bogus "steroid guru", or simply took the risk knowingly. Either way if he wanted a performance increase he could have done many things like Anavar that wouldn't have been caught.

  • @SCROGY you're not a nerd, because nerds are smart, you're just an idiot.

  • @alisandri523 I have forgotten more about training, physiology and athletics than you'll EVER know. So it seems to me you're the idiot.

  • @SCROGY Unfortunately you forgot more than you remembered.

  • @Bouchon211 Really Dr? By all means point out where I forgot.

  • @SCROGY Please refer to alisandri's posts.

  • @Bouchon211 Way to avoid answering the question. Why the hell get involved if all you're going to do is act like someones toady?

  • @alisandri523 And you're wrong. You got your ass handed to you by someone who can actually deconstruct your shit, and now you are just throwing around insults like a little kid.

  • @alisandri523 .........that he would have used something that A) doesn't suck and B) is out of his system in days like Test Cypionate or Anavar or even HGH which is essentially undetectable.

  • @alisandri523 And do you even know what a steroid is?:

definition: Any of numerous naturally occurring or synthetic fat-soluble organic compounds having as a basis 17 carbon atoms arranged in four rings and including the sterols and bile acids, adrenal and sex hormones, certain natural drugs such as digitalis compounds, and the precursors of certain vitamins.

While Decca can give you strength and or size gains it also causes your testosterone to shut down after the first injection......

  • @alisandri523 .....it can also aromatize, cause sexual disfunction (Decca dick-can't get it up) and gives half the results of stronger steroids. Decca is a mediocre steroid that stays in your system and is EASY to catch because it can be detectable for almost two years after taking it. That is why it it used to heal joints. It can strengthen ligaments and lubricate your joints. Royce STILL shouldn't have used it but I seriouly doubt he used it for anything other than to heal his joints.

  • This is just epic.

  • What weight classes did this guy compete in again?

Heavy and light heavy i thought was it.

  • @road35 He competed most of career at MW and HW. Almost all of his opponents were much larger than him, which he actually liked. He enjoyed the challenge, but consequently took some vicious beatings along the way. Phyically he is a natural 170 lbs. fighter, but never liked cutting weight. He will go down as one of the greatest and most legendary fighters in all of MMA.

  • @road35 he basically fought open weight fights. most of his fights were against heavies and light heavies while he only weighed 183lbs himself. he did have a couple fights against lighter opponents like Royler Gracie and maybe Anthony Macias.

  • gayest music ever

  • This guy had alot of haters at the start but this guy never gave up and fighter like that you have to admire. He started rough but he ended up being a legend of the sport.

  • I really miss Sakuraba in his prime. Amazing to watch, and such an entertainer.

  • 4 dislikes are by Gracie's

  • bas rutten actually like sakuraba.listen to his comentary, and when he list top 10 best fighter ever, sakuraba is on the list.

  • one of the best mma highlights

  • he lost every fight hoow the hell is he a ledgen lmfao are you serious losers are legends so your telling me keith jardine is a ledgen lmao yeah right

  • @dmlisa1987 you should have better things to do than troll. besides, you suck at it.

  • @dmlisa1987 By disrespecting sakuraba you basically disrespect one of the pioneers of the sport. Just shows you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, Go watch the ufc son.

  • @XmagnaX nigga i knw he is cold but he didnt beat the greats he is a hero but not a ledgen

  • @dmlisa1987 ken shamrock(UFC champ, king of pancrase x2), Mezgar(UFC CHAMP, king of pancrase),Royce Gracie (UFC CHAMP), Kevin Randleman (UFC CHAMP), Carlos Newton(UFC CHAMP), Vitor Belfort(UFC CHAMP),Funaki (King of pancrase x2), Quinton Rampage Jackson(UFC CHAMP), Braga(top 5 fighter), Royler, Rezno, Ryan Gracie(legends), Minowa(legend), Vernon White (top 10 fighter)Conan Silviera (29-1, top 5 fighter, Saku's first fight) lost every right? not a legend? might wanna learn your history.

  • @panther2552 I still think the most amazing thing about sakuraba is not who he beat or who he lost to. Back in 2000 this guy was unbeatable. If he would have been clever and cut down to 170 he might of ended his career undefeated and his body would be un much better shape right now. But he decided to fight motherfuckers 50 pounds over him and was pretty sucessfull at doing so.

  • @panther2552 And he was really unlucky as well. First fight vs wanderlei he drops him, gets impatient, swings for the fences and gets KO'd. Second fight with wanderlei he dominates until his collar bone goes boom boom. He was beating cro cop until that stupid eye injury. VS schembri he gets ko'd by an illegal headbutt. That ear that rips of in dynamite. I still wounder if saku haters actually watched his fights, because i don't understand how you can hate on such a cool guy (exept for royce :) )

  • this is my favorite Saku highlight!!!!

  • 4 Gracie Brother dislike this

  • He was japans hero and a legend and when he left so did Pride

  • SAKURABA AND ROYCE GRACIE, THE BEST OF FIGHT.

  • He was really screwed by the corrupt and, Yakuza back Japanese MMA machine. Don't give him opponents of similar size with which he could use his considerable talents, make him fit into a 205 pound weight class and, force him to gain weight, thus negating much of his speed and, agility.

  • @MrPotatoesLatkie

he doesnt gain weight doesnt he?i think most of the fight,he is 185

  • @gungrave10 Maybe, but he seemed to be heavier when he fought the Pride Middleweights. They should have brought in guys his weight to fight, instead of the bigger guys.

  • @MrPotatoesLatkie

    example?

  • somebody can tell me who is the singer?? please

  • @litafresita Sia - Breathe Me

  • somebody can tell me who is the singer?? please!!

  • PRIDE OF JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • saku is epic..he fought with his nations pride on his back

  • Four gracie's disliked this

  • @Sheggzz haha ya the 4 he beat!

  • Saku Motherfucking Raba!!!

  • If he could out grapple the best grapplers in the world in a fight where he had to worry about strikes , imagine how he would have done in grappling tournaments . Look at the knee-bar on Carlos Newton at 4:30 genius .

  • You can't help but wonder how many title bouts sakuraba would've been in if he'd just fought opponents of his own 183 lb weight class from Day 1, or if if Pride would have started earlier with champ belts rather than until Pride number 17. Not to mention the GP 2000 in between too. Unfotunately fighting great opponents of 205lbs and above such as Wand, Arona, CroCop, Rampage, Randleman. Mezger, Vovchahchyn, and others, will significantly take a toll on your body for sure. It's too much

  • @jack5555555 most likely nobody would bother mentioning Anderson silva, GSP or Hughes in the same breath as Saku if he fought at his weight. He might even be be dominant today at 41 if not for all the wear and tear against the big men. His career for me is summed up in the semi finals against Igor. He fought the equivalant of 6 UFC matches earlier that night against Royce and still came out to fight a 50lb heavier #1 heavyweight in Igor going to a draw in regulation. More heart than any fighter.

  • one of the best wrestlers in mma

  • Sakuraba is the greatest fighter to ever live next to Fedor, Nog, Wand, Chuck, GSP, Anderson, Hughes, and Shogun.

  • @jenlans nah, he stands above them. though if someone wants to argue Fedor is top i can understand that.

  • @jenlans well said! and Cro Cop too

  • nice vid! i found your video in allroundpoundforpound com

    great job!

  • mtv just kicked your ass

  • SAku is the man!

  • somehow gettin beat up and losing wasnt so bad for sakuraba. its as if it adds to his persona and legend. he knew how to show the mma world a good time. besides his fighting his style was one of a kind. a true artist. like bruce lee once said, to truly express ones self was the ultimate. he was great when he won and great when he lost. how many mma fighters can pull that off? living legend indeed..

  • Sakurba=Legend.

  • If Saku started a religion id join it.

  • sick vid SAKU is the man always will be thanx K.S

  • the greatest of al time

  • my idol...

  • El más grande..........

  • wtf they show sakuraba get hes ass kick so much in this clip thats so wrong, sakuraba a true master one of the greatest mma fighters of all time P.S JACKAL

  • @TheEVILJACKAL nothing wrong with showing his losses. That's the great thing about Saku from what i've seen. People care enough about him to show both his ups and downs in highlights. rarely see that with other fighters.

  • @panther2552 Definitely agree with you, the other thing I respected about him was he never shyed from fighting Silva, who back in the day seemed liked a monster.

  • theres to manny fakes out there with black belts saying there masters, this guy here is a true grand master, theres never been anyone who fights or brings so much fun to the ring one of my heros and any true mma fan would love this guy P.S JACKAL

  • thanks for the emotions Saku!!

  • Thank you for putting this together. I think of this man every time I get hurt or tired and keep going.

  • V !!!

  • best japanese fighter ever.

  • @Gordova44 take the word "japanese" out, and we have a deal...

    Saku the great!

  • well said akeboshi0 about legendofjomtein's comment

  • Sakuraba is the Randy couture of japan

  • @jaredg613 randy couture, kazushi sakuraba, igor vovchanchyn and fedor emelienenko are the 4 kings of mixed martial arts

  • great vid n a true fighter

  • I didn't know anything about this fighter three days ago. I was missing out:(

  • I'll always have mad respect for Sakuraba because of his victory over Rampage. Silva whooped that ass 3x though...

  • @brybry19871987 when two great fighters fight the 30lb heavier fighter should win tbh.

  • No excuses in open-weight tournament...

  • @brybry19871987 wasn't an open weight tourney it was a middleweight tourney. and there was not 185 (Saku's natural weight) or even 173 weight classes back then as their are now so there's no choice. don't forget Wandy walks around at 225 or did back then, when he actually fought a heavyweight in Cro Cop he outweighed Mirko by 5 lbs and got knocked out.

  • a true samurai! guts, sportsmanship, creativity, skill, dude had everything. a true legend in mma!

  • Interesting video, sortof "sad" for a HL video.

He's awesome btw, but you knew that:)

  • The word "legend" gets used way too much. No question about Saku though, he's on the Mt. Rushmore of MMA and the reason I follow the sport today. Nobody has a bigger heart.

  • Comment removed

  • One could argue that he's the greatest Welterweight of all time. He just never had the chance to fight at WW.

  • When people criticize him I wonder if they realize HE WAS ON TOP of cro cop who had 55 pounds him him. He had David and Goliath fights on a daily basis. If anyone in MMA had the courage this guy did I would not be bored of it.

  • Thanks for posting my video! Awesome to see people are still enjoying it...even if some of them are claiming they created it themselves ;) I can assure you kiwi8891 did not make this. Watch the beginning of the video...it says a Kinger highlight. I originally uploaded this to dailymotion (under Kinger001) and youtube back in 2006.

I posted it on Sherdog that year to a mix of very positive and very negative reactions, so it's cool to see people are still watching!

  • i can't see why you'd get any negative reaction to it asside from some some staunch Gracie fans i guess. IT's an amazing video. Saku is the only fighter i've seen that folks care to show his career as a whole, great wins and losses together. that says something about the man to me. Thanks for making this :)

  • this guy has an amazing low single...very fluid in his movements.ONE OF THE ALL TIMERS

  • sakuraba is badass..his only problem was that he never wanted to be stronger and develop a better striking...but his losses were all against TOP fighters...greatest japanese and submission fighter of all, no doubt about it...and is in top 10 greatest of all time for sure

  • i'll disagree just a lil bit bro. his striking was actually pretty decent. his biggest issue was size. the guys he lost to were generally much larger 30-50lbs. he walked around at 185. some folks say then well he shoulda gained weight, but if he does he loses explosiveness and quickness in his shot, which lets be honest there's never been a better sub artist in mma. When he fought guys at or near his weight he dominated.

  • the size is really a problem, that makes him even greater..but i don't know, sometimes it seens to me he was trying to escape striking and got beaten for that..but anyways..respect for the legend :)

  • I'm a Jiu Jitsu man but I still love Sakuraba because I've adopted my style of fighting very similar to his. I just find it works better for me. Thanks Sakuraba.

  • The greatest japanese and submission mma artist in history.

Sakuraba has something many fighters will never have and that's called heart !

Look at his last fight with Galesic, how many guys would have protected their head and hide facing Zelg strong punches ?

But he took the beatdown of his head like a man because he was working hard to get this epic sub which ended up breaking some part of his opponent's body.

This was Sakuraba at his finest, a true icon of this sport !

  • The best fighter of all times! A fearless and dangerous guy. And also a showman. A true warrior!

  • Sia - Breathe Me

  • who sings this song?

  • Sia - Breathe Me

  • this guy never had an easy win...starting from BUSHIDO...

  • this guy is amazing

  • I remember scouring the net for any clip oh him back before Pride was well known in the US, broke my heart when he lost to Silva....but in the end most Silva fans are now Fedor or Lesnar fans....and Sakuraba fans are and always will be Sakuraba fans. He is just amazing.

  • that he is. i also think about it like this. Silva ended up with so much respect for Sakuraba that he invited him to Chute boxe. And Wandy was truelly angry about the punisment Arona gave to Saku. The fact that Saku can affect his own opponents in that way is an amazing feat in itself. That's not even taking into account the beauty of his fighting style.

  • I wanna meet this guy

  • The greatest japanese and submission mma artist in history.

Sakuraba has something many fighters will never have and that's called heart !

Look at his last fight with Galesic, how many guys would have protected their head and hide facing Zelg strong punches ?

But he took the beatdown of his head like a man because he was working hard to get this epic sub which ended up breaking some part of his opponent's body.

This was Sakuraba at his finest, a true icon of this sport !

  • Very well said .... God I love Saku

  • i will never forget the first time me an my cousin watched my pride tapes back int he day an saw this man do a one hand cartwhell guard pass to side mount in one motion....the sickest submission fighter ever..the one an only Submission magician

  • True true, Back in 2000 I heard of a guy that trashed Vitor Belfort and said I had to see him. He lived up to every expectation!^^

  • yeah i was the same way when someone told me Royce Gracie had lost a match. I found the grandprix 2000 dvd and was just in awe his Saku in the fight. then was completely amazed at how well he did in the Draw with Igor after already going the 90 with Royce.

After seeing his last fight with Galesic I can honestly say he still manages to amaze me.

  • nigga u took the words right out of my mouth...when i saw he was headin into that match wit igor after that hour n a half shit i was like " someone call the lab an prepare the autopsy report...he went a whole round wit the most feared striker in that time an almost got an armbar in the first round.......or when he had almost been kiled by that nigga in k-1 but by sheer will fought out an i think won by submission...like watchin an old great lion almost lose to a younger foe but calls the last

  • ounce of great power in him

  • yep yep. and i'm guessing that k-1 fight is the smirnovas fight. rediculous heart from Saku there.

  • Which match was this one against ?

  • Eres un gran campeon!!!! Great champion!!!

  • Living Legend!

  • A Man Sakaraba enough said.

    -Incredible fighter

  • ベデオ好きだった。^^

  • haha you're totally right

  • a living legend for sure! i first time i watched him, i was like wow! like bas said, this guy is something special!

  • Sakuraba: incredible fighter and Gentleman in the ring but showman out... When somebody pronunce PRIDE, I remenber Kazushi... Your incredible technique was awesome... simply LIVING LEGEND

  • "was" he hasn't retired yet.

  • @roicegracieufc so true P.S JACKAL

  • Thanks for the emotions saku......long life kazushi!!!!

  • SAKU is a LEGEND !!! He's a great fighter ! He always does the SHOW before a fight, it's funny ! SAKU = PRIDE

  • LoL was he suppose to be Super Mario on 3:35.

  • yep the entrance to his fight with kevin randleman who was called the real donkey kong in Japan for the way he jumped around pre match

  • Comment removed

  • some of the masses also consider pwned as powerfully owned

  • hehe learn something new everyday. reckon beat or won are still good enough words for me lol.

  • Lol The fact that he fiught Mirko Cro cop When he had 50 pounds on saku or when he pwned rampage when he had 30 pounds on him makes me lol

  • ok here's my net illiteracy showing. how did pwned come about? i know it's derived from owned, but just don't get it.

  • Oh umm P is really close to O so people use to misspell it hence how Pwned came to be? pretty stupid huh? XD

  • Comment removed

  • lol thanks for the info.

  • what's this song?

  • Thanks !

  • Please what 's the name of music .. ??

    thnks

  • sia breathe me

  • There is Kazushi Sakuraba and then there is everyone else! Awesome HL!

  • GRACIE HUNTER!!!!

  • One of the best HL on the net! It simply has it all. And thrust me i have watched thousands LOL thanks!

  • ty for this

  • Waths the musica name??

  • the man had moxy. was worth all the trouble i had to go through to watch pride back in the day. i heard of it from a guy who saw it from a tape he got from a guy. i remember seeing sakuraba and falling in love with the way he fought. good stuff.

  • Kazushi Sakuraba The Best !!!

  • to all people complaining abiut the losses shown in the HL, Teddy Roosevelt once said "it is better to be among the few who know both victory and defeat than to be among the cold and timid souls who know neither."

  • i've said it before and i'll say it again. I think it shows just how much folks care for him wanting to show his whole career, rather than just the good times.

  • i had a tear roll down my cheek watching this

absolutely breathtaking. Saku is deserving of this

  • I own and wear several saku t shirts and wear them with pride.

  • you wear your t shirts with pride? as in PRIDE FC? ^_^ heh heh heh *sigh* yes... like no one has already made that connection....

  • I didn't actually intend that lol.

Meant it literally, no pun was intended believe it or not!

God Saku is the best by far, i will have to download all the pride fc's again :)

  • A brilliant man.

I miss his fights a lot.
