Man a very Big Hug and thanks to your videos! its very useful especially to the people doesnt know how to upgarde or replacing their speaker.. cheers mate! tnx a lot!
I can vouch for the g10 vintage, as i own the vintage 30, the 12 inch version.
The g10 vintage is a 60w speaker as opposed to the 25w of the g10 greenback.
This means you won't get as much speaker breakup. Also, the g10 vintage is less warm, but has tighter bass, more midrange, and cuts through better. It's personal preference really, I hope I helped mate. What amp is it going in anyway?
I believe you're referring 'slaving'. I know on some combos you can do it, so it silences the amp section and basically its just a speaker for use if you had another head or something and wanted to use the speaker in the combo. Just make sure the speaker can handle the power of the head and the ohms are correct
where do u get ur switchcraft jacks becuase im buying an eminece govener for my peavey valvking 112 combo but i want to wire the speaker to a jack in the back of my combo so i can use it as a cabiniet for when i decide to buy a head
i have a vox ad30vt and it sounds shit think its the speaker want to change it i play sabbath, acdc, linkin park, led zepplin any suggestions for a better speaker anyone?
He makes an important point in this video, boys and girls. If your speaker gets disconnected and you turn on your amp- you just blew your amp! It must have someplace to send the load...
Does soldering make any difference? Especially since it's gonna be hidden all the time - who cares about the way it looks? As long as it passes the current - it's fine.
Hey King666 - I have had issues in the past, w/ bad solder joints. Even though it doesn' t move around in the cabinet - if the wire is held on by a tiny bit ... the weight of the wire alone can make for a bad connection. PLUS, the bigger issue ... since your amp needs to SEE load all of the time - it's a 'better safe than sorry' move for your transformer :-) (IMO) :-) Thanks!!
haha - that's called the Tone Living Room :-) I'm lucky I have a place to sit in the Tone Lounge, let alone to upgrade cabs :-) !! Thanks for watching!
hey i have a line 6 spider III 30 watt. i wanted to know is it only a 30 watt because the speaker is 30 watt or the amp itself can only handle 30 watts. i found a speaker that can handle 150 watts and i thought i could switch it out for a louder amp. would the amp itself blow/ not work/ or break if i replace the speaker with different wattage?
Your amp can't be louder if you change the speaker. If you have 30W amp you need 30W or more W speaker. If you change your speker to 150W speaker, the sound won't be so good. Speaker must be crancked to give good results.
Hey arch, if your looking for a modeling amp get the Peavey Vypyr its a good quality amp, and very loud, i have the 15 watt, test it out at guitar center it has some good crunch/thrash tones
Hey Tone king! What'da think would pair up nice with a line6 spider 3 15 watt? im trying to turbo charge my gear, and i dont want another amp because i only play at home.
Line 6 is crap. You should just get a new amp. Like a Blackheart or a Black Star amp. They are great low wattage tube amps for home players. Nice classic sound to them.
Sound like you need a Randall. They have some great amps, but I recommend the RM50 combo in that case. Read up on it. I think you'll like what you see.
my amp keeps making A crackley sound what would be the cause like that? i realy hope its not my guitar, because the only place to get a guitar fixed is waltons and there a bunch of tick assholes who will scracth your guiutar :(
It's probably just a dirty jack. Go buy yourself some electronics cleaner. Not that duster spray but pc board cleaner. Make sure it's residue free. Spray that into your guitars jack and your amps jack. Make sure it's OFF AND UNPLUGGED(for at least an hour if it is a tube amp. Large capacitors can hold a charge for a long time.strong enough to kill you! ). Spray the volume and tone pots as well. If it's a strat style guitar you might want to take the pickguard off first to protect your finish.
A messed up imput cable can do that, and if you have a mobile phone in the same room as the amp it can also fuzz/crackley (Or so i've read in GuitarWorld magazine)
Great vid. I am thinking of getting a Vox 15CC1 for the EL34 tones and ordering an Eminence Red Fang speaker since the stock speakers are pretty much where they cut costs.
nice video!! thanks

Carvin cabs with a poor soldering job? Doubtful. Might be a different solder that doesn't shine even with a good soldering job.

The wattage won't make it louder but if he got a speaker that was more efficient it could. Although, it could also be a 30 watt speaker.
