  • About the fresh impact crater at 1:08 - 1:13.

How fresh is it? Are there pictures of this area without this crater?

  • They aren ot impact craters. They are the culdara of Volcanoes The largest white spot you see is the crater of Mons Olympus, the largest volcano in the Solar system.

  • Thank you for the awsome video.

    I subscribe.

BTW: The two or three white dots which can be seen on the revolving mars near the equator; are they mountaintops with glaciers?

  • My friend, those are infact the highly reflective culdaras of the volcanoes scattered through out Mars surface. Ice only exists at the poles on Mars.

If anyone has any questions regarding any other elements of this show, please let me know.

  • Ok. Thanks. So there isn't any water anywhere on mars but on the poles. (ice)

Could there be water under the surface? Has this been researched?

Forgive, if my questions are stupid, but I haven't studied these matters, I'm a newbe.

  • Theh Phoenix lander spent last year on the North Pole digging holes in the surface of mars. After a month after it began it uncovered ice below the surface. Not just any ice....Water Ice frozen beneath. Currently Water Ice is known to be beneath the surface of of the poles. If you watch the Liquid Water episode of PTV by checking out t channel it shows that

  • last week when the mission team were reviewing the images from last year, they uncovered liquid water condensation had accumilated on the digging arm of Phoenix. Yes, not only did they find frozen water, they found that liquid water could exist. The liquid water was able to remain for a few hours due to the high prechlorate salt in the area.

But so far, they have found the liquid and ice water int he poles. No digging has occured elsewhere as of yet.

  • The Rovers dont have any digging tools to attempt this. There are plans for a new rover who can dig elsewhere to look for more water.

  • cool video!

    ranked 5/5!

    awesome work!

  • what are thouse black cuts/dots in 4:45 ?

  • I would hazard a guess at those being areas that the orbiter didn't image.

  • Yes, the dark area are infact the unscanned sectiones of the martial surface.

  • great views
