I remember when I was playing on my first playthrough and how I was in the Great Forest really close to the Imperial City. Then I saw through the clearing in the trees on a really sunny day and Isaw the Imperial City and Lake Arius next to it. Then 0:31 started playing. This is one of the best games I've ever played and I cherish every memory from it.
I remember this song playing after I closed the large Oblivion gate in front of Bruma during that big battle. We won the battle. I searched the battlefield for signs of Martin, Baurus, and Jauffre. I found Martin and Baurus alive. I walked over to them to find Jauffre on the ground, lifeless. 0:31 happened next.
This song brings back nostalgia. But it's not the painful nostalgia that you generally dislike. I enjoy this nostalgia.
Perhaps because I can simply put Oblivion back in my PC, and start where I left off. In an unchanging world of extreme beauty, adventure and player-made experiences.
Ah... Good old oblivion OST. I've got to admit that skyrim OST shall never be better than oblivion OST. Just listen to this masterpiece and you will understand.
Elder Scrolls is renowned for many things; its rich gameplay, cutting edge graphics, vast exploration and open storyline. But the reason I reserve Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as two of the best games in history is for its beautiful and relaxing music. Congratulations on a job well done, Jeremy Soule.
The first time I stepped into Bruma after a bit of a trek (first time playing, didn't know the quick travel system :S), it was about dusk/twilight. It started to snow and this played......I was speechless for the next 5 minutes
I played the original game (not some gold editions or whatever crap) on my PC and I used to hear this music very often. I don't know why some of you have never heard it while playng. Now I'm not playing the game itself anymore, I finished it about 3 or 4 years ago and since then I haven't touched it, but I own a copy of the game's soundtrack collection because I consider it amazing.I've checked every single track (they are 26) and I am a 100 % sure that i've heard all of them during gameplay.
something tells me that the 3 dislikes i see are genuine misclicks, not only is there no a possible reason to dislike but so few of the overall views too ^^
Does anyone know when this theme plays in-game? Been playing since '06 and I can't seem to recall ever hearing this while free roaming. That bothers me, especially considering it's one of my favorite tracks.
@ninjaassasin999 Ah, thanks. Well, that kinda sucks. Oh well. Let's just hope they include all the songs from Skyrim in the platform version this time!
I don't know where everyone thinks the song wasn't included in the original Oblivion game for the Xbox 360, I've heard it countless times playing on the Xbox.
Anyways, beautiful song. I've always loved the Elder Scrolls music. Skyrim is looking to also have an amazing soundtrack, especially with the Morrowind-esque theme that popped up in the preview with Todd Howard.
Nope. I have clocked in thousands of hours in the 360 Version of Oblivion, and there is no Auriel's Ascension. You might be getting confused with the other OST'S, but the sad thing is this OST was not included in neither the original or the Game of they Year Edition. As for the PLAYSTATION 3 Version of the Game of the Year Edition, it comes with all Sound Tracks including this one. Also for the PC version.
The one that does not have this is the Xbox 360 version.
Yes, i've played many years on GOTY oblivion in 360 and this song doesnt exists, only in PC and PS3, and in Skyrim has the same issue, look for Explore Day 6, and then you shall hear a song that in 360 never plays.
Wow. Didn't know about that. This time i decided to get Skyrim only on PS3 and PC. That's why i don't know what goes on the 360 Version. lol. There must be some reason why Bethesda does this.
It might be the DVD space problems...who knows. In skyrim i have also a bug that when you reach more than 900 of armor (i have more than 1200) you dont hear battle music anymore, thats so anticlimatic when you face a dragon..
I hope that Skyrim's soundtrack can match the quality of Oblivion's. I can listen to this type of music without even playing the game and be honored. My ears have been fortunate enough to hear some of the world's greatest music.
@ForrestAngel thats not true.. bought this game for my 360 at the release ..... and this song was 100% on the disk... i remember because i heard the song at night when i was watching the sky with thounsands of stars in it. perhaps the song will only played at night.
If I play this game for longer than two hours at a time, I end up with a headache. But then this song plays when it's night time out in a field of flowers in all that gorgeous scenery...
I know this song is a GOTY ed. exclusive track, but i HAVE GOTY ed. and it used to play for me, but now it never does.
Also, the piano in this song reminds me of walking through the snowy forests near bruma, and the part at 1:42 reminds me of looking off the cliffside in the great forest neat Hircine's shrine, just to see a BEAUTIFUL view of the imperial city.
@IhearaHunter117 Ok I have The Goty edition for pc and the regular version on ps3 And i hear all the time on both :l So i dont really think its a GOTY exlusive..
I have the GOTY edition and have had it for about four years, and I haven't heard it once on the Xbox. But at one point I got the pc version for when my xbox wasn't around, and heard this just as commonly as the other music. (Don't have the pc version anymore, although the console commands were super fun to play with.)
i always would go outside with my horsey at dusk, just while the sun sets and it always seems this song plays then. it matchest that mood perfectly and u just roam aroun and enjoy the scenery. god damn mudcrabs always whind up making this song change to the action music.ahhhh old times :)
This is probably one of the first difference's i noticed between the Xbox 360 and PS3. I was like this is not on the 360 that's for damn sure. I have to say it the PS3 version was the best. Better graphics, Music, that was the real Oblivion.
@gMemo92 In my PC this song plays half of the time while I'm playing. Does this song plays on the Xbox version? I already have read other comments saying that this song is not played often on Xbox.
@summersault This song is in the xbox 360 version. I've been playing this game about as long as you have and I've heard this song in-game about 4 or 5 times, but it's in there nonetheless.
@gMemo92 I would have to disagree. This track is available for the 360 versions, only the earlier versions didn't have it. The 360 and PC versions had minor DLC's PS3 unfortunately didn't get them. For graphics in my opinion the 360 had better colors and supported a higher video output but PS3 did have better draw distance. The best version is the PC (for having all DLC's and expansions and the ability to mod) then 360 (for having everything except for mods) then PS3, but that's my opinion.
I remember when Baurus died killing the last of the mythic dawn's men, Raven. I walked outside, and this started playing. It gave me the courage to avenge him. Kill them all.
Ah, sucks that I had the console version of this game. I only recently found about this piece of music. A lot of TES's music makes me want to learn new instruments.
i dont care what kind of music you like this is a great song very relaxing and idk i remember playing oblivion its my home away from home THUMBS UP FOR SKYRIM
Honestly, when i first played oblivion, my frontal lobe exploded when i realized how epic this game is. This song i think, would've been a better theme for oblivion than reign of the septims. This song touches me in a way no other would.
Even though this game has a horrible storyline, the atmosphere is so beautiful and amazing you feel like you are living in Tamyriel. One thing Bethesda does right is make a beautiful world full of fun lore and amazing music.
@Assassini72 Seriously.... Wow, everyone I've texted over the net says its a terrible storyline. If you really want to understand my position, go play games like Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, and you will know what a good story is. Hell, even Morrowind had a better storyline. Bethesda has shitty writers now.
'Kay, by claiming oblivion's storyline you've already sealed your fate. You'll go to the special areas of hell reserved for road ragers and child molesters.
@METALGEARSOL1D yea but TES isnt about the storyline they just puty a short one in there to atleast give it a story but its all about the free roaming all the caves and mountains and just enjoying the OST
@FF4l1e That sounds boring as fuck. Without any type of quests there is no point to all that. You have to have a storyline that is why TES puts one there. They just have shit for writers, and that can be seen in Fallout: 3's shitty storyline. Look at Morrowind that game had a better story than Oblivion's.
@FF4l1e Instead of being a fanboy, maybe you can admit that Bethesda needs to hire better writers. Maybe if they get Obsidian to write their stories their games would be better. Storyline is what an RPG is about, and having a good one never hurts. Bethesda insults our intelligence with the shitty storylines they put into their games.
@METALGEARSOL1D well im not a fanboy cos oblivion is the only one i ever played although the others i watchted alot of them on youtube but most of the time western western RPG's dont have really good story's but yes i do agree on the fact they need better writers
@FF4l1e I still disagree that WRPGs don't have good stories. You just don't know where to look. Modern games are hardly even RPGs. If you go back to the 90's RPGs and early 2000's, you will see the epitomey of storytelling. From Fallout: 2 to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, there are games that have an awesome storyline you just need to look in the past because the present doesn't offer jack shit.
@METALGEARSOL1D well the only Rpg i really played alot when i was young was final fantasy and then i mean 8 9 and 10 and i played 7 to and 1 and 2 on the PSP but overall im more into JRPG's then WRPG's
@METALGEARSOL1D If you honestly think the works of the writers at Bethesda, expressed through in-game books by fictional authors, accumulating to the lore of the Elder Scrolls series... is "shitty"... then dear god you need help.
@TigranTheMetz I play games. Although I don't mind the library of lore it contains, the actual criticism should fall on the immersion and plot not on some library. If you think Bethesda are good writers in the main campaign and quest making, then God help you.
Well that's just your opinion, man. Although I find hard to understand, since everybody I know, including myself, enjoyed this game, are enjoying Skyrim, and have enjoyed Fallout 3.
Now please, stfu. If you want to learn a story through cutscenes and not by looking by yourself, then clearly you suck at these games, or you've played too much FPS. Stop being a dick with people who like this game.
@OniGlalie I'm not talking about cutscenes, and you should seriously think about calling me a FPS fan because you literally don't know shit about games. If you think Fallout: 3 and Skyrim are good games, then you are a casual gamer with no sense of taste. Look up Planescape: Torment, the original Fallouts, Ultima Series, Baldur's Gate series, and Darklands if you want a real game.
@OniGlalie You wouldn't know that gaming is a passion because you feed on the shitty current generation games that come out. If you played games like Planescape: Torment, Darklands, or Ultima, you would see the intrigue and geniusness behind real games. You are stuck in this casualized idiocy that has been released and re-released over and over again just to make a quick buck. I give you TES series as an example.
Well, I think 2.5 million people will disagree with you. The point is, I really don't give a damn about wether or not it's a game for "casual gamers".
Besides, you must be either a troll, or an idiot by claiming they repeat themselves with their games. How about the CoD series, Gears of War, Halo, BF, L4D? Hell, even Mario at some points!
I'll tell you what: Fuck you, you fuckin' fuck, i'ma gonna slay some dragons ;)
@OniGlalie I'm not even saying that I'm in the majority. I know I'm in the minority because not everyone has the patience and critical thought process to comprehend the games that I play. If everyone was at my level, then I would be the casual gamer. I'm glad that I am an old-school true RPG gamer because all of those games you mentioned are brainless shooters (except Mario which is a brainless platformer).
@METALGEARSOL1D Oh yes, your ability to play old school video games truly elevates you well above the rank and file. Look pal, I love old school RPGs too. Planescape Torment is one of my all time favorites, but it doesn't make me a better person. I play games for fun, sometimes I feel like Mario, sometimes Skyrim, sometimes Ultima, as you mentioned. There's no "right choice." I find Metal Gear Solid melodramatic and pretentious, doesn't mean you're dumb for presumably liking it.
@FinalBrick Even if it is "pretentious," MGS is way more smart than that piece of shit Skyrim. Skyrim is just Oblivion with a worse leveling system. Oh, Planescape: Torment is all you got? That isn't oldschool in my regards. Talk about Darklands, Betrayal at Kondor, Ultima before you start saying you like old school RPGs. When it comes to games that hold the RPG label, the only right choices are oldschool and indie RPGs at this point in time.
@METALGEARSOL1D See, here's where you and I differ. I don't find MGS "smart" in the least. I felt it was a game content to shovel exposition in my face, utterly dispensing with concepts such as "subtext," or indeed, "subtlety." However, I don't think you lack, say, critical thinking skills because you felt differently. Your enjoyment of that series is not more or less valid than somebody's enjoyment of Skyrim. Skyrim's writing is shit, but the world is a joy to explore.
@METALGEARSOL1D Look, I love Skyrim and MGS, you cannot compare the two games at all simply because they are completely different. In my opinion MGS broke the fourth wall far too often to be funny and Skyrim's writing can be difficult to understand at times.
@JackD791 Skyrim's writing is not difficult. It's just straightforward jargon followed by bad voice acting. Skyrim's writing is shit! I'm not arguing about MGS, though. I really don't give a rats ass if you people compare it to Skyrim because it's not my favorite game. I just happen to have it as my username. Try to compare Skyrim to something like Darklands, and you will see a true RPG with awesome writing and a unique world. And fuck all of your shitty Skyrimjob memes you fags.
@METALGEARSOL1D Just shut up. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about what a good game is. By the way why the hell are you on Oblivion music if you don't think it is a "real game?" Don't people with a "sense of taste" like you deserve to be doing other things than trolling on youtube videos?
@GB12345671 The soundtrack is amazing, but the game as an entirety sucks. I don't need to be a TES casual fanboy to know the amazing artist behind the soundtrack. Jeremy Soule has composed several of my favorite games like Icewind Dale and so forth. Before you spout nonsense, I'm here because of his amazing talent and not because of Bethesda's shitty game.
i added all oblivion and morrowind soundtracks to skyrim they are just sooooo good! I love em all

I remember so many people say Oblivion was shit and Morrowind was the best a few years back.
Now Oblivion is the best and Skyrim is shit.
In 4 years Summerset Isles (just a guess) will be shit and Skyrim will be the best.

This is probably one of the first difference's i noticed between the Xbox 360 and PS3. I was like this is not on the 360 that's for damn sure. I have to say it the PS3 version was the best. Better graphics, Music, that was the real Oblivion.
gMemo92 8 months ago
@gMemo92 Indeed, I played both versions, i first played xbox and loved it, but then I played oblivion on ps3, and everything just felt...better
OutcastForevermore 8 months ago
@gMemo92 In my PC this song plays half of the time while I'm playing. Does this song plays on the Xbox version? I already have read other comments saying that this song is not played often on Xbox.

the song is not in Xbox, i have played for almost 4 years in the console, and the other day discovered this, so imagine yourself, i was furious!

@summersault I would feel the same If that happens to me, because this song is awesome.
Joseman4724GT 7 months ago
@summersault This song is in the xbox 360 version. I've been playing this game about as long as you have and I've heard this song in-game about 4 or 5 times, but it's in there nonetheless.

@Noise509 Its GOTY Edition only for it
Tinymclean 7 months ago

With only my fists.

Ah, sucks that I had the console version of this game. I only recently found about this piece of music. A lot of TES's music makes me want to learn new instruments.

@METALGEARSOL1D
Bad story line?
WTF?
Assassini72 9 months ago
@Assassini72 Seriously.... Wow, everyone I've texted over the net says its a terrible storyline. If you really want to understand my position, go play games like Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, and you will know what a good story is. Hell, even Morrowind had a better storyline. Bethesda has shitty writers now.
METALGEARSOL1D 9 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D Bad storyline...?
'Kay, by claiming oblivion's storyline you've already sealed your fate. You'll go to the special areas of hell reserved for road ragers and child molesters.
Joking, but I do disagree with you.
Dispensentreleporter 8 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D yea but TES isnt about the storyline they just puty a short one in there to atleast give it a story but its all about the free roaming all the caves and mountains and just enjoying the OST
FF4l1e 8 months ago
@FF4l1e That sounds boring as fuck. Without any type of quests there is no point to all that. You have to have a storyline that is why TES puts one there. They just have shit for writers, and that can be seen in Fallout: 3's shitty storyline. Look at Morrowind that game had a better story than Oblivion's.
METALGEARSOL1D 8 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D Well thats your opinion but thats what i enjoy and yes of course morrowind had a better story no doubt about that
FF4l1e 8 months ago
@FF4l1e Instead of being a fanboy, maybe you can admit that Bethesda needs to hire better writers. Maybe if they get Obsidian to write their stories their games would be better. Storyline is what an RPG is about, and having a good one never hurts. Bethesda insults our intelligence with the shitty storylines they put into their games.
METALGEARSOL1D 8 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D well im not a fanboy cos oblivion is the only one i ever played although the others i watchted alot of them on youtube but most of the time western western RPG's dont have really good story's but yes i do agree on the fact they need better writers
FF4l1e 8 months ago
@FF4l1e I still disagree that WRPGs don't have good stories. You just don't know where to look. Modern games are hardly even RPGs. If you go back to the 90's RPGs and early 2000's, you will see the epitomey of storytelling. From Fallout: 2 to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, there are games that have an awesome storyline you just need to look in the past because the present doesn't offer jack shit.
METALGEARSOL1D 8 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D well the only Rpg i really played alot when i was young was final fantasy and then i mean 8 9 and 10 and i played 7 to and 1 and 2 on the PSP but overall im more into JRPG's then WRPG's
FF4l1e 8 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D If you honestly think the works of the writers at Bethesda, expressed through in-game books by fictional authors, accumulating to the lore of the Elder Scrolls series... is "shitty"... then dear god you need help.
TigranTheMetz 2 months ago
@TigranTheMetz I play games. Although I don't mind the library of lore it contains, the actual criticism should fall on the immersion and plot not on some library. If you think Bethesda are good writers in the main campaign and quest making, then God help you.

@METALGEARSOL1D
OniGlalie 2 months ago
@OniGlalie I'm not talking about cutscenes, and you should seriously think about calling me a FPS fan because you literally don't know shit about games. If you think Fallout: 3 and Skyrim are good games, then you are a casual gamer with no sense of taste. Look up Planescape: Torment, the original Fallouts, Ultima Series, Baldur's Gate series, and Darklands if you want a real game.
METALGEARSOL1D 2 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D
I love how you say I know nothing about games, like, if it was some sort of passion like litterature.
Just go fuck yourself, I hope you act smarter IRL instead of just being an asshole for a video game. As for your "real games" I say: TL;DR.
And look how much fucks I don't give if you call me a casual gamer or a pro-gamer. LOL
OniGlalie 2 months ago
@OniGlalie You wouldn't know that gaming is a passion because you feed on the shitty current generation games that come out. If you played games like Planescape: Torment, Darklands, or Ultima, you would see the intrigue and geniusness behind real games. You are stuck in this casualized idiocy that has been released and re-released over and over again just to make a quick buck. I give you TES series as an example.
METALGEARSOL1D 2 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D
OniGlalie 2 months ago
@OniGlalie I'm not even saying that I'm in the majority. I know I'm in the minority because not everyone has the patience and critical thought process to comprehend the games that I play. If everyone was at my level, then I would be the casual gamer. I'm glad that I am an old-school true RPG gamer because all of those games you mentioned are brainless shooters (except Mario which is a brainless platformer).
METALGEARSOL1D 2 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D
Well you know that's just like huh...your opinion man. Go play your hipster games now.
OniGlalie 2 months ago
@METALGEARSOL1D Oh yes, your ability to play old school video games truly elevates you well above the rank and file. Look pal, I love old school RPGs too. Planescape Torment is one of my all time favorites, but it doesn't make me a better person. I play games for fun, sometimes I feel like Mario, sometimes Skyrim, sometimes Ultima, as you mentioned. There's no "right choice." I find Metal Gear Solid melodramatic and pretentious, doesn't mean you're dumb for presumably liking it.
FinalBrick 1 month ago
@FinalBrick Even if it is "pretentious," MGS is way more smart than that piece of shit Skyrim. Skyrim is just Oblivion with a worse leveling system. Oh, Planescape: Torment is all you got? That isn't oldschool in my regards. Talk about Darklands, Betrayal at Kondor, Ultima before you start saying you like old school RPGs. When it comes to games that hold the RPG label, the only right choices are oldschool and indie RPGs at this point in time.
METALGEARSOL1D 1 month ago

JackD791 1 month ago
@JackD791 Skyrim's writing is not difficult. It's just straightforward jargon followed by bad voice acting. Skyrim's writing is shit! I'm not arguing about MGS, though. I really don't give a rats ass if you people compare it to Skyrim because it's not my favorite game. I just happen to have it as my username. Try to compare Skyrim to something like Darklands, and you will see a true RPG with awesome writing and a unique world. And fuck all of your shitty Skyrimjob memes you fags.
METALGEARSOL1D 1 month ago
@METALGEARSOL1D Just shut up. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about what a good game is. By the way why the hell are you on Oblivion music if you don't think it is a "real game?" Don't people with a "sense of taste" like you deserve to be doing other things than trolling on youtube videos?
GB12345671 2 months ago
@GB12345671 The soundtrack is amazing, but the game as an entirety sucks. I don't need to be a TES casual fanboy to know the amazing artist behind the soundtrack. Jeremy Soule has composed several of my favorite games like Icewind Dale and so forth. Before you spout nonsense, I'm here because of his amazing talent and not because of Bethesda's shitty game.
