  • Regardless of what music or what technique you use. Speed painting is simply about expressing your self and your personality in what you see!!! Don't let other peoples views interfere with yours. If someone tells you that the jaw looks to big except their comment but!!!! If you like making the jaw of your dragon look that big then make them that big!! regardless!! When you start to conform your own personal style of speed painting you loose the right to be a speed painter

  • you did pretty good not as good as cgsbgs of cource but pretty damn good, dont worry about the people saying its not are because you used anther photo for reference. people paint bowl of fruit in front of them and its call art so i dont see how this is any differant ,and at least you changed it up a bit good work

  • wht song is that?

  • Cool, I like how you added the spikes on the cheek and on other places, but mostly the cheeks! That is better the cgsbgs's picture, I think. I think that because it has little mistakes and not perfect. I think that that makes pictures look better. :D

  • frasier900 is stupid

  • that is sooo dum he copyed it it dose not show him draw it

  • @llaaiinnaa It is not traced.

  • dude? tech us, using only the knolegde of u own head ;D

  • Comment removed

  • The under part og the mouth seems too long.

And fr the background. Do not ue te Layer, which you have in the beginning. I take the Outlines on one layer, the light effects on a new layer and the shadows on a new layer. And the background (I do this first...means after the outlines) on a new layer, because the layer, which you have in the beginning is locked, so you can't do everything...If this i your problem, just make the background on a new layer.

  • thanks man ill remember that

  • @Panterdragon another way is to rename the background layer to layer 0 or something like that and it will be no more locked :)

  • @Sermonized747 The way I do it - create a background copy (duplicate layer) and just clear the background .... that's all :)

  • @szczepanski666

    That's how I do it.

  • That's so awesome, I don't even know how else to describe it.

  • nice version. you clearly got skills, so work on them and keep on practicing and then one day you'll be as good as cgsbgs ^^

and that's far from a copy, just the same pose so don't worry 'bout that^^

  • Screw the bunny and quit the spamming.

  • what you have to do is copy the background layer you already have and re name it something then delete the background layer that is locked and rename it that way you dont have a back grond layer you have just layers you can name it what ever you like and now you dont have to worry about dealing with the Backgroiund layer problem every time i start up photoshop i just duplicate the background layer and then delete the old one and that solves the problem for me then i just draw and mak new layers

  • guys jsut chill ok this is ahrd to do and i bet none of u can do this so whatever. anyway what song is this?

  • its called "let the drummer kick" by i dont know who lmao

  • @frasier900 lmfao the name of the band is citizen cope. they live here in new york.

  • Personally I prefer original art.

  • Well IMO if u Sketch basing on your favourite artist is not a crime... And also is called art besides it has 0 creativity... Art is a concept which is over creativity, creativity is a part of the concept but NOT all concept.

A lot of artist do the same. Rurouni Kenshin said in an interview that when he draws a character usually see some marvel designs for reference.

BTW, a very good piece man, keep working!

PD: Yeah, my english sucks U^^. Im from Spain xD.

  • you're really good. but it sorta looks like it has 2 fake fangs at the front, they would stop it from closing its mouth but nice job.

  • I want a drawboard and I could easily repeat this, right now Im desperately trying to draw a picture with a crappy mouse I have, I almost succeeded too once but then it went all fuzzy for some reason and basically I just screwd it up... QQ I want a drawboaarrd... :S Well Im still working on my mouse handlin and hopefully in about a week or 2 Im able to repeat this stuff with a mouse :S Because theres no way on earth I can afford a drawbboard...

  • you can get one for like 80 bucks on ebay

  • lol drawboard? you mean tablet? the cheapest decent wavom is about £60 but its only a5, you can get an intuos for like £150 i think

  • Yea I get it, I know its called a tablet but I say "drawboard" because there are people who think tablet is a pill... Anyhow as I said theres no way I can afford one. But seeing that there are some contests on dA, I'm just joining up on those contests, to hopefully win a tablet or the money for it.

  • looks good

  • very nice

  • i thought u would ask tht, i wrote the comment b4 thinking of seeing if it was on yer channel, so i looked at the channel AFTER! i had dun the comment

  • how old r u!?

  • 14 ..........

  • i made google acount when i was like 9 soo i lied ya...

  • ur 14 and u did this? how the hell are people gettn so good with computers younger and younger..(@_#)

  • yeah it is crazy vut maybe he's lying, and this aint original, and he needed like a reference. he's just a nerd not an artist...

  • Lols, I think someones jealous. :D

  • I dunno what to say man, but I'm not jealous, what a waste of time speed painting a dragon, I would like his stuff if he made it more creative. That's what art is about; creativity and originality. Don't u agree?? duude :D

  • It's funny, because what might seem mainstream for you is actually what another person loves to do, creativity and origionality have nothing to do with it. You shouldn't spread your ignorance. Art doesn't have a genre.

  • "what might seem mainstream for you is actually what another person loves to do, creativity and origionality have nothing to do with it. You shouldn't spread your ignorance. Art doesn't have a genre. " WTF??? I'm not ignorant, I just worship creativity.

  • You still don't get the point, lol. It's not about what you like it's about what he, as the author likes. You shouldn't bias someone elses art over your own personal favouratisms.

  • well u still don't get my point I was saying that he as the autor just got his job done, it's not art. Art = creativity. I dunno how to explain. My english sux ass :(

  • this isnt art???... you must be retarded, what do you call this, and all the other inspired artistes doin tributes to their favoret auther, junk, copy???, art is arranging elements in a way that appeals to anyone who sees it, if shat on a brick and stuck pencils in it for ppl to see, its ART.... hell, one guy is selling puke on canvises for god sakes... so if this isnt art what the hell did i make??

  • Maybe it's art, but not my kind of art then or whatever. What a waste of time, I dont understand why any good artist would do a tribute to anyone, especially by simply copying, it's like WTF u knnow. Ofc not.

  • Dude, what's your problem?? Are you an artistic retard or something!? Really, this is art whether or not you think it is. Look at all the differences between his ART and the other guy's ART! They are similar, yes, but different in many ways! Besides, tributing to an artist isn't a waste of time, it shows your appreciation of another ARTist's work! So stop being an idiot and go comment on something that you can appreciate.

  • frasier900 used a photographic reference. It doesn't matter what they use to draw the image they plan to create. Many great artists use photos of their subject to create their own version. I use wolf pictures to draw wolves. It doesn't make me a nerd, it makes me an artist.

So get your facts straight before you bash someone. Not only is it rude, but it's a disgrace.

frasier900, you did a wonderful job. I wish I could draw dragons as well as you.

  • Photographic reference???? Like from a real picture taken with a camera, that's ok but he didn't do that, he actually used some other guy's artwork as reference, that's different, and it looks basically the same.

  • No, photographic reference as a reference from a picture. It has nothing to do with a camera.

  • Not To Bad....Keep It Up

  • wow, that is really cool, i guess it would be alot easier to use photoshop with a tablet i suppose? i was going to get one, but too expensive, how long did it take you to create that? if it was me, probably 4 months or a year. (around hw of course! ;)) try and make some videos if you can cause im a fan all the way!

  • thanks it took me bout 3-4 hrs, ill try making a video of one soon when i have time

  • it's much easier if before you just start working on it, you create a new layer, and START working on IT insead of the "BACKGROUND" labeled one... it saves you the lasso selection time, the horrors etc. hf, and nice job for your first try.

  • thx ill try that on my next painting

  • How long would a thing like this take you...

  • 3-4 hours

  • that was the hardest part, that and the lighting that reflects on the dragon, hard to get it to look real

  • i love the fire!

  • Regarding the layers thing--- I usually just draw the stuff flat. And when I'm ready to work on a background UNDER my dragon, I select it with the lasso, hit ctrl+c, ctrl+v (copy-paste) which automatically creates the new foreground layer with the object you just selected with the lasso... Then you can go to town n the background layer UNDER your dragon! Give it a shot...

  • thanks ill try that

  • Very nice!

  • Thats really good frasier!

  • its cool man but it'd be nice to see the actual drawing from start to finish.

  • i know ill do speed paintings later on
