One type always caused a random mutation; and created thousands of these cells were per day. The other kind destroyed all but the strongest of the mutated cells, depending on the environment. Had his pet evolved in lava, they'd have fire resistance, in water, they'd be aquatic. It only takes one generation to bring new mutations. Once reassimulated, all future zerg would get it too.

  • @draugtroll In case you realize DTs are coming, you just throw that Parasite on top of one your Overlords, for example, and you're set. Because the parasited Overlord can now detect the DTs, you can proceed to attack the DTs with your own units.

    And you'd propably do well to always keep at least 50 energy (or whatever the cost of the Parasite will be) on your Viper in order to be able to emergency-cast the Parasite in case of DT rush.

  • I'm sorry but the viper's abduct ability makes the game a whole lot more unrealistic. How does a small caster unit pull a massive thor or collosus with it's claws? It should work only on non-massive units.

We know the rules and ways of biology on Earth only, and even here we've found some pretty curious examples of non-standard biology at work. Remeber we know the laws of Physics are translationally and temporally invariant, while we have no such knowledge for the workings of biology.

I study biological anthropology, focus on paleoanthropology which deals directly with evolution and many of its laws its clear you like spouting assertions with out any knowledge so just stop.

  • This is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Terran could actually counter this with the shredder. Set up the shredder in the choke point, and if they have to withdraw out of the cloud, the shredders activate and still hold until the cloud disappears. Of course, this does make a choke point more costly, which is just a generally good thing.

  • it reduces the attacking units range to one, but of course, u can micro against this by simply moving the units out of the cloud...

  • @DLuznyyy dark swarm was a defensive spell that caused units in the cloud to be immune to ranged attacks. this spell is used offensively to reduce the enemies attack range

  • @DLuznyyy my point is that its clearly not the same as dark swarm. its not used in the same way. i see this being used on enemy tanks, stalkers, colossi, hydralisks, and especially marines. anything with decent range to make them unable to attack (since they cant get close enough. think about it. a big marine ball is powerful because they can all attack at once usualy. if you reduce all their range to 1 they become melee attackers which makes them useless

  • @LabyrinthOfDream you are joking right? Ultralisks that have a burrow charge. Banelings that can move underground... and with vipers you can pull units like a collosus right out of a deathball and kill them off. How are they getting a cut? no Overseer, sure, but the viper also grants detection to other units. Protoss gets both the carrier and the mothership cut.

  • @ShatteredToDust first off, the ultra and baneling arent new, also i guarantee u those abilities will be nerfed to the point of nonexistence or removed within 3 months. but my point is that now zerg will HAVE to have a spire for detection to build the viper, the vipers ability can only be used once, and things like a flying unit pulling a collosus off a cliff ruin the suspension of disbelief

The ultra's I can see being kept because if you let your opponent build up enough ultras to leap in and kill your army. you deserve it. but running banelings underground. I just hope that they are only as fast as roaches. The detection is basically a support unit + detection, the building costs as much as a Robo. Where as the observer is an invisible detection. I just do not see the cut that the zerg gets.

  • @guitarpro925 the problem is, liquid graphs aren't actually accurate. they dont actually have all the data. Blizzard does and the balancing difference wasn't actually that bad. they we pretty close within 3% except, TvP. they were 7 off or something. I can't find the link but i saw it. Zerg was mostly 47~49ish per league in NA. in korea zerg is killing toss. Honestly, i think they'll never get the balancing right in sc2. too many mechanics and the fact that sc2 units dont mix as well as sc1 did

  • So, let me get this straight. Zerg has a way to break terran siege. Terran has a way to break terran siege. Protoss doesn't have a way to break terran siege.

    Protoss is the paladin of SC2.

    Zerg can break siege, Terran can kind of break siege, Protoss can with Replicants and Oracle harass giving you the advantage. It's the least direct method and Terran is the most direct one, but Tanks against Toss works little anyway - Chargelots dominate so unless he has Hellions (which you can simply counter with Blink Stalkers) then you're fine.

  • That seems a little imba to me. I mean you can pull units like colossus before you engage the death ball. So for 100 energy you are killing any unit you want with zerg... that seems just a bit broken to me. Zerg could deal with colossus as is with corruptors why do they need that ability?

  • @Recreantsmile I play Toss and Zerg but I am not a top level player either. How ever I do cover pro tournaments so I understand the game just fine. Terran is the only broken race IMO atm but that abduction spell is to much. If it only worked on non massive units I'd say ok. But 100 energy to snipe a colossus is a HUGE advantage for zerg in Zvp. Colossus is not only a huge investment of time and money but with out it mid-late game zerg can simply over whelm protoss with little to no resistance.

  • @Bdakkon It's mostly to break lines, it does harm the Colossus force a huge amount but that means that you need to be especially careful of how you use them now - Thermal Lances will nearly be essential.

    Unless they decide it shouldn't work against massive units, giving use back to the Corruptor and their new Siphon ability.

  • @Thecrazyhide Thermal lance is already essential. Ever try using it without it? And the new blinding ability is ment to break lines not the "get over here" abduction. This is as I said ATM a 100 energy kill a unit of your choice spell. If it doesn't work on massive I'd say ok still would suck to get 2-4 units of your opponents choice get sniped for 100 energy each before the engage (mind you no other spell can do that ATM) Tanks are one thing I'm ok with that but Colossus is a huge investment.

  • @playerf Lol I play toss and zerg on a casual level but follow pro level play. The reason I said that tho is tanks cost about half as much as colossus and takes almost half the time. Losing one tank doesn't hurt the Terran ball nearly as much as the protoss losing a colossus.Besides with their blind ability zerg can rush a siege line without using abduction. Abduction is only good vs toss.ATM IMO (notice the IMO)

  • @Bdakkon I do feel that Blinding Cloud is more of a vT thing and the pull is a vP thing, but what's the problem in that ? I don't think either of us are good enough to judge balance of the game but saying if there is a problem which being pre-beta I'm pretty sure there is, I think it lies in Protoss' reliance on such expensive units. I already replied to you with what White-ra said, and I think it'd be much funner if my Adrenal Gland lings take on more than just Zealots with legs.

  • @Thecrazyhide But that's just it, that's what protoss is, the high cost fancy toys race. If toss was the low cost numbers race they would be zerg. I don't think there is anything wrong with the colossus itself the problem is with toss as a whole. They don't have the strong units they need to go toe to toe with zerg or terran they have to rely on FF storms and colossus or they simply can't win. mid-late. I just feel zerg have a decent number of solid units as well as terran but toss don't.

  • @Bdakkon Toss has that idea that they need key effectors for their main units to succeed - I think they could have more units than they do now without being the race that has such high costing ones. Upgrading Stalkers later game who let's be honest is not the strongest unit for its cost as well as improving how the Zealot works (if need be) would be very helpful as to the use the Colossus and High Templar have.

    So yes I agree, Toss doesn't have the solid unit composition for the pull to work.

  • @Bdakkon Indeed I see your point but what I'm saying is that the pull is not necessarily overpowered because Protoss has key units structured that way. You have Replicants, harassers and another big Capital Ship now - I think the use of the Viper will force more small-arms play for Protoss, and White-ra himself said he wasn't happy with the units Protoss gotten, he wanted upgrades to your everyday Gateway units - which is why I feel that if they're implemented the Viper is a "fair" unit, right?

  • @Bdakkon because even 2 colossi are cut the zerglings and hydras and to counter colossi you need at least 16 corruptors to kill them efficiently, otherwise you get too fast too much damge and get overrun. after corruptor did deal with the colossi, they're useless and were wasting minerals. thats why they also gained the mineral drain ability.

Usually you transition into brood lords after. But I do agree corruptors are not the best unit once you clear the air with them. I'd like to see them gain an ability to be recycled for 75% of their cost. Let me put it this way tho would it be fair if toss could recall any enemy unit and kill it? 100 to snipe a brood lord?

    - Cloud = Nullify all ranged attacks

    - Fungal growth = root stalkers and make'em useless in the cloud while taking damage

    - Pull = Pull any collusus/immortal into your roach ball and insta kill them
