Man this song sure was the greatest Zelda theme ive ever heard in my life, I even remember that I played this game before when I was young at the time that I played the Gameboy back in 2004 but I only played the beginning and I think the middle bc I didn't know what to do XD. @ 1:45 That's what Link wished he had done, but to prevent future heartbreak, he ran away instead. I think that would have been a great addition to OoT. The first time you'd ever play, you'd see link and saria hug. And then all seems well and good until you finish the forest temple. And then Link's heart shatters at the sight of her being the sage. Too bad Nintendo doesn't pay much mind to love interests....except for the end of spirit tracks...

Just bought this to replay through the story on 3DS. I still tear up when I hear Marin singing the song, knowing that she and all of Link's other friends have to be killed off. Never has a hand-held game had such a masterful plot that was so tragic and emotionally wrenching, but even then in a way it just seemed the right thing to do. But still...Marin's fate is just so sad... Even with the extra ending, thinking about her and Link's friendship is just so hard.

The WindFish... He slept for a long time.The Legend of Zelda : Link's Awakening. What an old story, created when I was a child, in 1993. This song, the Ballad of the WindFish, is the song of the forgotten island. Link plyed that song to wake up the WindFish, and to wake up Himself. I played it when I was 5. And this song remains for me one of the most beautiful song of Zelda.

I remember sitting there when it came time to learn the song from Marin and telling her no over and over again just so I could listen to their duet over and over again. Then there's all the times that I opened up the egg just to reset so I could listen to the song again and again... I think the GB sound chip does it GREAT JUSTICE.

So rather than fighting about the limit's of yesterday, just think of this song and let it carry you away to the land of the perfect, the land... of Zelda! You listen to that song on the GB and imagine its tinny pseudo-instrumental sounds being like this. You artificially add in dynamics and liven up the song.

The Song of Awakening, even presented perky and upbeat in Link's Awakening, was very sad and very beautiful in my eyes. It was one of the few games where I thought the world would have been much better off if Link had died before the opening.

Dream people or not by awakening the Wind Fish Link effectively killed an entire island that was "real enough" in my eyes.

The saddest part of all was poor Marin.

Oh well. It's a video game... But it's still sad.
