It's very hard to tell the difference when they are young. for instance, the one he's holding. You need to wait until there about 1 year old (maybe less). Then, check between their back legs. If you see some pores in a V shape and two bulges at the base of the tail, then you have a male. A female will have none or very little of these traits. Hope it helps!

When i picked out my leo i stroked him and he didn't run the next day i tried to pick him up my hand was about 2 in. away and he ran up onto my hand i had never seen this behavior before so then i put him on my shoulders and watched tv for about a half an hour and he did not move an inch he eats regularly but just to make sure i did research and didn't find anything he is a baby hypo if you could help me out pleases reply :) !!!!!!!!

well the active part is not true, leos are nucturnal so when you go to the expo or store in the day, chances r it will be sleeping.:) but the rest of the facts r correct:)

@countrywhisper males have a triangular row of bumps on their stomach neir the tail and a bump on the tail base.females are also smaller in everyway(tail size varies though) so if you have a male and a femal one head will be a bit bigger by about 3 cm

@brandon423247 & silverfeather988: Your gecko is probably shedding. They'll quit eating for almost a week. You may not even notice, since they eat the skin. Is it a pale color? Also, over handling can stress them out, so give your pal some space. They are very good hunters. I doubt it's having trouble finding food. Remember to give them Calcium and multi vitamins. Remember, they're nocturnal, so check on him at night.

well just dont handle him 4 like 2 or 3 days and let him get used to his or her new home. and after that period of time feed what ever you tried to feed him( just get something like tweezers and grab the food and put it by the geckos mouth and when he finds out that it's food then he should eat it.
