This just made my night, as well as the drunk history version. Now im off to bed I hope I get some cool stuff tomorrow... merry christmas and God bless America.
I just realized that was ripped off of a mr.Rogers episode, and I havent watched that since I was 6-7. I'm 13 in case anyone was wondering. I recognize the voice because of soundboard prank calls.
My mum used to read this to me every day at christmas since i was 2, i got obsessed with it lol. now 14 years later i can recite it word for word without the book lol :)
Any idea what year this soundtrack was released? I've got a compilation album of really old Xmas songs, but without the release dates. This soundtrack is on it. Another youtube user who's uploaded it thinks it was around 1953. But I see the book was 1958. I've been searching on Wikipedia, and other web sites, to try to find out the release dates of the songs on this Xmas album I've got.
No 1:27 To 1:29 It Should Be Like Dash Away Music Dash Away Music Dash Away Long Music Dash Awayyy Alllllllllllllll And When There's More Leters That Means How Long It Is.
I believe in Santa and I'm a 15 year old boy. Last year I was a bit skeptical and was laying up in bed, doubting and then I head a thump and thought something was wrong, so I ran downstairs so fast that my ponytail came undone and my terrible bed head was whipping behind me and then I went to the living room and there were presents under the tree. I went to my dad and step mum's room and they were fast asleep. I can't wait for Thanksgiving and then Christmas :))))))))
I bought this book in 1964 for my first son's first Christmas to read to him every Christmas until he was 18 years old. (And, I did!) I wrote a note to him inside and signed it. When his first child was born, he wrote the same note to her from him, and my son reads it every Christmas to his children. He decorated his Christmas tree to look just like the one in the book, and he put the book on a table beside the tree.
The video is of the same book. Thanks, and may God bless you!
My name is Judy. I loved that book and it was handed down to me by my mother. I use to read it to my children, but some how it was lost. Christmas has not been the same without it. Do you know the author or where I could get the same book?
I don't know where you can get it. I've had mine for about 45 - 50 years. The cover title is "Night Before Christmas". The Publisher is the Whiteman Publishing Company, Racine, Wisconsin. Copyright 1958. I think Florence Sarah Winship did the illustrations. Good Luck!
@ChathamVideoGuy Hello, I have another version of this book. It is a Whitman Tell A Tale book from 1969. Story by Clement C. Moore and Illustrated by Florence Sarah Winship. All of the illustrations are different but you can tell they are her work. I hope to be posting it on YouTube soon.
@Kabunky18 I'm Judy too - and I think I had this book/record too. Brings back fond memories. I looked this up because on Facebook we're debating whether the word is "donder" or "donner". There's quite a history to it...
Thank you so much for this! I grew up listening to this album and haven't been able to find Perry Como's rendition anywhere. My husband and I found it around the holidays and it brought me back to when I was 5 years old. It was 1959, life was different not necessarily better in all ways but different none the less. I even remember the book you show during the reading! Excellent!
@hoopenhanger Do Liberals hate this? Typically? I suppose I could imagine a person who happens to be Liberal despising this poem because they don't think it's a very good poem... but why would they hate it because they are Liberals? What is it about this poem that Liberals hate?
@papalosopher Liberals live to hate and destroy the simple things that most people enjoy. Liberals find fault with everything, from the American way of life, to Christmas. No surender.
@hoopenhanger I'm sorry you feel that way, and I disagree with you. I would say more but I despair of finding any common ground with you on this topic.
"How can liberals so despise this wonderful piece of Americana"...?! Only in your dreams... You conservatives are entirely given over to hatred, aren't you - you lying sack of shit...
Let's all band together to prevent liberals from destroying this wonderful American Christmas classic.

I agree I am a liberal too and love this! It's sad some people are so deep into their political ideology that they will bring it into anything!

@scott575 Liberals are conspiring to have Christmas banned. We must stand together and thwart their evil plans.
hoopenhanger 6 months ago
@edwardp75 Tell that to your wonderful Muslim president, B. Hussein Obama. Sooner or later he will make it illegal to say 'Merry Christmas'.
And oh yes, you're only a liberal because you haven't been mugged yet.
