OMG these comments are driving me nuts. This was definitely a PBA event and a final on top of that. Voss and Williams were always a great watch. Voss's last shot was the best way to ensure 2 pins. You don't wanna pull a Del Ballard Jr when he threw the tournament by shooting it in the gutter when he only needed 7 pins to win. If he had done the same thing as Voss, it would've been an easy tournament win
I mean, the way the PBA used to oil the lanes back when people took the game seriously. When they started "gaming" the lanes for high scores, etc., it killed the sport for a lot of people.
He still needed 2 pins to win. If that's all you need to clinch the tournament, I'd throw it straight at the head pin too. He needed a pretty extreme angle on his strike shot.....just a couple boards right off his hand and it's in the gutter. No need to chance it at that point.
There's nothing as great to watch as a match with strikes galore and both players getting the crowd going, what an atmosphere it must be on the stage :)
To prove my point, look at Voss' tenth frame shot, where he stuck at the foul line. Yet he shreds the rack. No way he does that on a real PBA oil pattern.
It would have been, but it's got a lot of friction. He stuck because they were both sweating a lot. When WRW hits the line, he's gonna drop some moisture as he rears up. Voss held the shot just long enough, then tripped up after planting and pulling.
You're talking about instinct bowling, but it's not the same thing. When people like Voss reach this level, they develop an instinct that others don't have, that little voice that says "I'm going to miss left" or whatever and they instinctively correct for that. But I wouldn't call this (sticking at the foul line) an instinctive correction at all, and I'm certainly not knocking Voss. He's a pro and has been for years, proven that he's capable of winning on any condition.
I think u misstundestood me because I'm not native speaker.
He stuck at the foulline. This normally automatically leads to a few other things like e.g. missing the target inside or outside and more or less rotation/loft/speed.
In some cases the sum of the consequences will be exactly "0". In those cases you'll hit the pocket allthough you didn't bowl well (even on a hard-sportshot).
What bowling was this at?

Voss is a very nice guy off the lanes. Its all business when he is bowling for a living.

Arena finals were/are a complete joke, the PBA should not EVER make lanes easy for professionals. For any reason. Whatsoever.

Shoot, no way he does that on our house pattern here. Count your blessings and thank god they fell.

Real PBA oil pattern? I'm pretty sure this was a PBA event... I know... It's crazy... But I'm just saying.

I wouldn't agree... sometimes a bunch of mistakes compensate for themselves.
e.g. when you rotate around the ball to much AND because of that you lose ballspeed AND therefore miss your target to the right.

But however, everything you wrote was correct.
