Recently, it seems that I've become so attached to this place. I have the craziest photo of my 10-yr-old who loves this place (we drove from NJ to see it) standing in front back in September and there's orbs and streaks of cloudy something around her. Like they were greeting a child who was enthralled about being there. I'd love to see the inside. We also visited Clark's. We have a similar park near us (Storybook Land) and this just breaks my heart.
I went there when I was 6, and in my middle school years we wanted to put together a project to restore the park free of charge for the owners at the time, but the school vetoed the idea. It's a shame. It was a great place for little kids to head off to. Just another victim of the greed and laziness that grips this beautiful state.
This is sad. I've never had the opportunity to go there but it looks like it was a really fun place. I wish we could revive old parks like this one. It's sad to see a place that was once so full of people and laughter fade into an echo.
This is sad! Say, it ain't so. I woke up this morning wanting to take my kids to the enchanted forest that I remembered as a kid, and I see this! This is horribly crushing, it is like an end to childhood dreams. We need to do something about this, our kids have limited places to go and have fun, and just be kids. We should bring this back.
@excitatia - well, the closest you'll be able to re-live the memories is going to clarks elioak farm on 108 in columbia. they have some of the original pieces there.
I grew up in Baltimore and spent many wonderful times here. It's so incredibly sad to see these pics and to know that the park doesn't exist anymore. RIP Enchanted Forest..we love you.
I remember this place well and I have heard of all the happy stories. It is too bad that it has fallen to waste. Someone should really repair and startit up again. Children love this.
I almost cried upon seeing the remains of the mountain slide, as shown at 3:37. As I recall, to get to the top of the slide, one would ride the "Little Toot" boat to an ascending path on the side of the mountain. After sliding down, one could climb a different path (which snaked around under the slide) to reach the top again.
It's a pity that my daughter will never be able to share in the fun and memories that this park brought to so many, including myself.
At 1:34 on this video it shows what is left of the tea cup train. Do you know if that stuff is still on that property? Does anyone know? I would greatly appreciate anyones response.
Gosh, it is so sad to see it this way. My Uncle Charlie took me there when I was a little girl, maybe 5 years old. It was a magical place for me at that age. Of course, that was back around 1960. Thank you for showing the Shoe at Clark's farm.
Thank you BaltimoreAndOhioRR for letting me know the location of the Whale (at the Clark Farm) I viewed the video of the farm after submitting my comment and happily found that Little Toot (the boat) is also there. I wish I had access to the photos that we took back in the early sixties because I would share them with everyone. Those were some happy times. Thanks again!

I remember accompanying my younger brothers and sister to the Enchanted Forest back in the early sixties. I didn't see Little Toot or the Whale in the video. It's as sad as the closing of a really cool (especially to a four-year-old--myself) amusement park (Whalom Park) in Massachusetts.
I remember my neighbor took me there around 1955 or so. Sad that the place has gone out of business. Your pictures bring back many wonderful memories. Thanks for posting
I remember having my 2nd birthday party here back in 82. It was a shame to see it go. I bet this would have been a wonderful place to still take your kids to this day had they kept it opened.
@Dradshire97 I don't know exactly, except that it was a very 'basic' park. I guess everyone started going to King's Dominion, 6 Flags, Busch Gardens, & Hershey Park.
@Dradshire97 It was a basic park that you walked through with slides and buildings you could go in. It was great, but it couldn't compete with rides and the stuff bigger theme parks had. It was really great for little kids and could probably still do well with them if it was promoted and priced right.

I was there in the middle and late 60's. Also missing from the video was the tea cup ride that rode through the center of a hill.
zuketroop1 1 year ago
@zuketroop1 - The hill that the ride went through would now be under the shopping center. That section was constructed over.
