John Hanson who was president of the Continental Congress (not the United States) from November 1781 was white, and of english heritage. The photograph that is used to make the point that he is black is in fact a photograph of John Hanson, who served as a Senator in Liberia prior to 1860 (although the i couldn't find exact dates).

For one they did not have PHOTOGRAPHY in the 1700's. However, that is a photograph another John Hanson, which would be Senator John Hanson a politician from Liberia served in Grand Bassa County who championed the relocation of slaves to Liberia. The photograph was taken in 1856.

The one in this video is that of Senator John Hanson who served in Grand Bassa County in 1856.....He was from Liberia.....They did not have photography in the 1700;s and people are confusing the two politicians because the share the same name.....The two Hansons were not even alive at the same time and held completely different offices.

The gentleman in that photo was indeed a man alive in the 1860s. He was a Senator in Liberia in the Liberian Senate. The John Hanson that was president of the Confederation Congress was a white man. The man in the picture is not him.
