  • if you notice there is a school behind the siren and i actually go to that school and i see that siren at school i will also see the same siren in this video because i have school tommaro

  • The siren at the fire station in Milan was out of service again?

  • i live 10 minutes away from miland and when they test it its so annoying in carleton its louder than you think but it must be loud where you live

  • The fire siren isn't that long

  • Wow that was a blast from the past, thanks for the memories

  • hey Mike....did they fix the fire siren yet?

or is it off line now...?

that was kind of a trade mark sound in Mllan.

if you had become Mayor, we still would hear it!

  • It works! I heard it today!

  • good work getting it back, i know you must have had a say :)

  • Sofa king sweet.

  • hey i hear that siren everyday...

i think thats a fire siren.

  • The fire siren is actually located on top of the fire station downtown...I haven't heard it recently, so I'm wondering if it is broken.

  • @marmitage911 its not broken because it does a test on Halloween at 6:00pm i live in milan i actually live on north street and north street leads to town witch is where the fire station is and i go past it all the time because i go to wilson park a lot and the park is right next to the fire station and i live about 8 houses down from town and the tornado siren on top of the fire station is a black federal signal model 2

  • @stormchaser1000T The one on top of the fire station works, but is not part of the tornado siren system, nor is it used anymore for fire calls. Basically, it is only for Halloween at this point. This spring, the one on North at Michigan will be moved north towards North and Lewis. A new siren with voice capabilities will be added in the downtown area.

  • @marmitage911 well i know that and the siren on north street is being moved to north lewis? well thats why they took the part of the siren off thats suppose to signal the siren to go for a test from the fire station but atleast i can still walk to the siren and record it if its on north lewis street

  • @mario4mushies its a tornado siren and the name of the siren is a federal signal 2001

  • why is there a beeping noise? it is like in every horn video

  • DTMF tones

  • ust where is that one in milan...i cant seem to place it??

  • It is on Platt Rd in front of Symons Elementary

  • i ssee that now...just all the trees with leaves on make it hard to see. thank you, i will have to drive by there today and look at it.

  • mike is that you....?...it is paul!

  • Yes it is...

  • ohh god that siren sends shivers up my spine.

  • Man that 2001 has a fast wind down. I live in Livonia, MI and all are old sirens got replaced by 2001-130s. We only have 1 DC left and 1 SRN left.

  • tornado sirens scare the shit outta me

  • Are they on a digital activation system? We still use an old whelen system with up down tones. They have been looking at a system that activates only the sirens we want but right now we can only activate either the entire county or none.

  • They are activated by a DTMF tone sequence, but there is not two way communication. The city is only 2.5 square miles and has three sirens, so the two way communication and specific siren activation is not practical for us. Also, we are on a county line with one of the sirens on the county line so it's not like we can activate the sirens on the Monroe County side and not the Washtenaw side of town. The specific warnings from NOAA has really helped us.

  • ok, ours actually sound like a really really old fire pager tone if you actually listen to it. We have one code we enter for monday test, one for tornado warnings, one to shut them down and one for attack sirens. I am in Shawnee county kansas. The entire county is activated if any part of it is in a tornado warning and if i remember right thats about 25 in Topeka and another 15-20 in the rest of the county.

  • Milan is the only municipality in Monroe County Michigan that is not part of Monroe County Central Dispatch and Emergency Management Siren System. They have the digital sirens that can be activated for specific warned areas, and have a computerized map that shows what siren are working, activated, etc. They also have a nuclear power plant, so they get some assistance in building their siren system...

  • The dispatch center was really busy at the time of the test and I believe the test tones just were sent twice in an oversight.

  • I hope that wasn't a monthly test. It didn't even rotate all the way. Nice video.

  • Great video. That siren is called a 2001-DC.
