However, it does ask us to verify with the people of the book and who practice their faith properly (Jews and Christians) to confirm if what has been revealed to us is true. If you read 10:90-94, you will see that Allah is talking about Firaun and the Children of Israel. Allah is asking to check with those who had been reading the scripture before. It only means that their scriptures still have those stories mentioned in them - no matter how much those have changed.
