  • Why did Aflie Bass leave AYBS?

  • Is it weird that I find Mr. Humphries sexy?

  • Certainly a lot of applause in this episode after every segment. Last episode of Mr. Goldberg. Shame, he was a cool replacement

  • Mr Rahm from Only Fools And Horses :)

  • Why did they keep changing the head of menswear? I mean grainger had 4 replacements all they needed was one.. which i think goldberg was the best.

  • "If you think that every time I get my salary, I'm going to parade with a brassiere in my eye and a pair of knickers on my head, you've got another thing coming." What a HOOT!

    20:58...Captain Peacock has dimples!

  • Payment dispensor-"DO NOT PAY OUT..DO NOT PAY OUT"----Mr Lucas"Perhaps it was stolen by a Dalek"

  • @tapeduk Sounds like the machine could use a DOCTOR, but WHO could they call?

  • OH I DONT LIKE THOSE THEY MAKE ME LOOK LIKE AN OLD POOF!!.

  • @20:30 the eternal question arises: WHAT WOULD CAPTAIN PEACOCK DO?

  • THE PUSSY SHAMPOO PARLOR

  • I actually like Mrs Slocombe's hair in this episode

  • Transcribe audio at 23:55

    :O

  • sneaky Mr Goldberg has so many connections

  • I would love to have Penny Irving guide my hand hehe :)

  • For some strange reason Mr. Goldberg looks like the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland (the Disney cartoon)... =o/

  • @truevidence Never thought of that - maybe because Alfie Bass is too well-known, I always think of him in movies/shows like "The Fearless Vampire Killers", "The Army Game", "Alfie", "The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins", "The Lavender Hill Mob" or "The Goodies and the Beanstalk". Great comedy actor (though I must admit I do miss Mr. Grainger a lot")

  • im going to show you something thats going to shock you!

in that case ill put my glasses on!

  • @121Swaleskid I spit out my water lol

  • Oh, I don't like those, they make me look like an old poof...

No they don't they make you look like Elton John...

    That's no comfort!

    LOL

  • 27:40 is my favourite, I always loved watching Trevor Bannister as Mr Lucas. Very handsome and charasmatic!

  • thanks :) always loved these

  • which hair color hasn't mrs slocombe had? lol

  • @matrixagent100 black

  • @matrixagent100 black? lol

  • love the look on Trevor Bannisters face at 03:39 it was never the same when he left. This was his last eppisode apart from the punch and judy afair Christmas epp.

  • I can't wait until I have a head full of grey hair. I'm gonna wear a different color every week, just like Mrs. Slocombe.

  • @dammitpea ha ha love the thought

  • lucas <3

    and grace!

"A.... and the rest in polish!" lol

  • @cathal2011 - your comment is just as nonsensical as saying "see, Amos and Andy tap dance and eat watermelon, just shows you that blacks all act that way." The _character_ Goldberg was written in the script to act like the Jewish stereotype. The only thing it "just shows you" in your words is that the script writers were using the Jewish stereotype for what they believed to be comedy effect. Sad on their part, sadder on yours.

  • Mr. Lucas was already superfluous and totally uninteresting, almost always irritating ,just like and Mr Spooner ,and sometimes Mr Grainger...the main carriers are just Mrs Slocombe and Mr Humphries...

  • Dalek? Lmao ^_^ I love Mr. Lucas even more!

  • I can't thank you enough for uploading all these episodes, been a fan of the show for years!

  • For anybody wondering, Trevor Bannister left the show because he didnt like that the show had become an ensemble instead of him being the lead, which is clear in the pilot. By this point in the series, Mr Humphries and Mrs Slocomber are the most popular characters.

  • @mtwini09 I had also heard that he felt that mr lucas was a product of the seventies and wouldnt have translated well into the 80's plus, he had wanted to do a play that unfortunately clashed with the shooting shcedule and he chose the play as he wanted to do different things.

  • @mtwini09 Honestly I can see where he'd be upset but it was kind of a selfish reason for him to leave in my opinion. Spooner was okay but I still liked Lucas a lot better!

  • @mtwini09

I've always wondered why he left, thanks. He was sort of the anchor of the show, imo. Mr. Spooner... I mean really.

  • @mtwini09 i have to agree with those who say that Bannister had been long overshadowed by Slocum and Humpfries - Sudgen and Inman had much better comedy timing - from the first Bannister flubbed his lines and messed up the comedy timing, he just was not as good. And Thornton had great timing too. Was really a great ensemble of people they put together - love this show, thanks for posting.

  • @mtwini09 - That's true. However, he was offered a part in a play (which is what he had wanted to do - live acting), and the rehearsal times coincided with AYBS, so he left the show altogether. As you said, he didn't like the fact that he was no longer the lead character, so he began looking for other work. If he didn't get the part in the play or no other offers then I'm sure he would have stayed with AYBS.

  • @mtwini09 I thought he had left because of a drug problem...thanks for the info.

  • @mtwini09

sounds interesting. may I ask what the source of this tidbit could be?

I never thought of him as the lead in anything.

  • @sillybabybunnies The book: "Are You Being Served?" Behind the Scenes.

  • @mtwini09 According to Trevor he left the show because the filming conflicted with his theater schedule. The BBC didn't give much notice when they renewed AYBS, so Trevor had already contracted for a play. BBC tried to move the filming schedule to accommodate Trevor's schedule, but it didn't work. So they had to hire a new actor as the junior.

  • @mtwini09 I guess egos aren't just for American actors.

  • @mtwini09 I often wondered why he left. I liked his character but didn't care much for his replacement.

And he died just last April.

    :-(

  • thank you so much for uploading! but.. this isnt the season finale... that is The Punch and Judy Affair unless I am mistaken and if I am and that is a special Christmas episode just ignore me please.

  • GO PITCH THAT WOO, MR. HUMPHRIES!!!

  • @KTBEverlasting pitch it high and hard too...LOL

  • @KTBEverlasting But not in public.

  • @fjccommish That's right. It's not everybody's business.

  • SUBSCRIBE TO mtwini11 SO YOU DONT MISS ANY EPISODES!

  • Mr. Goldberg is a bit villainous in this episode.

  • UPDATE: Blackadder 2.4 and AYBS 1979 Special both rejected again. Will keep trying, sorry for delays.

  • @mtwini09 What was the reason?

  • @Hallinilla9 it keeps saying "video length too long" which clearly hasnt been a problem until now. im going to reupload in a lower quality to see if its jsut reacting to the compressor i use.

  • @mtwini09 Maybe upload it in parts if that doesn't work.

  • @mtwini09 oh good luck and again THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR UPLOADS! I know its a pain in the bum and takes for ever.. we really do appreciate it.

  • LOL Mr. Humphries's laugh at 4:57

  • Great thanks!

  • yay! :D
