@stevevandien i think it was against domestic nuclear power stations after the 3 mile island (near) disaster, not nuclear weapons per se

@stevevandien rhm01 was right - these concerts (incredible, imho, i was there) were mostly directed at stopping nuclear power plants- tmi had confirmed what we all knew; now, tragically, we watch the suffering in japan. as for what the concerts accomplished, they educated and inspired people to resist the whole nuclear power industry, which has definitely been stymied - we still have a long way to go.

there isn't any soviet union anymore, and only this country has used nuclear weapons.
