This is to let everyone know that Liberace's full-length movie, "Sincerely Yours", from 1955, (where this scene comes from,) will be shown on the Turner Classic Movie channel on March 7th. Check your local movie listings for time...I believe it is the first time it will be shown...It's a wonderful story of Liberace playing the part of a pianist who loses his hearing at the peak of his career...Some great music selections in the movie...
if you look at his performances , he was not only a great artist , but he was a performer...He put on a show with zest and style. I did not like his flamboyance when I was younger , but I have come to appreciate his talent.
Liberace is a damn good musician. He put both sinew & soul into his performance. He brought wonderful music to a wide audience. If one person has been warmed by these great (relatively familiar) classical works and found solace in them, he has earned his sequins.
I saw this movie when I was a small child. I loved this part and am so glad you posted it here. now I can watch again and again! my husband and I visited the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas 2 yrs ago.. I loved seeing the costumes he wore and his rings.Even his bedroom was copied there. If u enjoy that type thing I think you should go see it if possible the tickets were very reasonable. Not at all like anything else there. this man had a God given talent..gifted person/
At that time the public condemned him for AIDS. Tarnished his legacy. When his house was finally sold, the new owner tore it down and rebuilt on the property-afraid of getting AIDS (so I read) Today nobody cares that he was gay and now we know too many people who have died from it, famous people, friends, etc. I know his Talent will win out.

Few are aware of his pianistic virtuosity, especially in the days before he decided to focus more on showmanship.

Oh, wow! I really thought this was going to suck, but Lee brings the goods (and 101 strings).
