I'm slowly becoming more and more enamored with Gappa after I had a revelation that they were supposed to be six limbed theropods with all the best features or various types, including Godzilla's beam weapon.
And the movie is really gorgeous too. I almost wish Nikkatsu would bring him back, and not just as someone for Guilala to wipe the floor with, but in his own vehicle.
The Gappa seem to fly by a combination of aerodynamics, and antigravity. The great thing about this movie is the design of the monsters, the SP/FX, the sound fx, and the fact that the wires are invisible, even in the razor-shar DVDs.
Niikatsu also did a fabulous gangster epic in 1966 or 7' called "Tokyo Drifter" directed by Seijun Suzuki.
It was a very stylish, set-pieced movie about a Yakuza man double crossed by his boss after many years of faithful service. And it had a GREAT opening and closing theme song sung by the star of the movie himself, of whose name I forget right now.

I like this movie. I did a re-edited, full version of this movie on my page, if anyone wants to see another take on it.

This scene makes me cry because it has a happy ending and it is heartwarming.
YAY! Little Gappa can fly without his parents teaching him!

This is a surprisingly good kaiju movie. Loved it. Beats Gorgo by a long shot.
