@snyperkyzer I guess I sounded like a builder, huh? I'm just the HVAC guy. The only reason I was being thorough is because the company I worked for would be liable for a warranty call-back for that noisy return. Not everyone is a fan of living next to a golf course and having to repair a broken window because some shankapotomus sliced a drive.
@fritzhvac Thanks! This was just an example of the stuff I used to do. Look for problems a new homeowner might complain about and fix'em. My old editing software sometimes produced in 4:3 when I recorded in 16:9. New software cured that ailment.
@drew05171 Heat pump system needs a call for contactor in heat and cool modes. The 'O' terminal is energized (for the reversing valve) during call for cooling.
@kikinputa I'm always happy to help the 'common' homeowner. I like saving the average consumer a buck or two because I'm a consumer, too. No need to pay a pro when you can do it yourself.
What touch screen t-stat was that? never seen that one! Nice on the return grill. I do that quite often with supply vents. Get a lot of customer complaints about temp/airflow to some rooms and they have these retarded vents that highly restrict the air and shoot it across the ceiling instead of into the room. (rolling eyes)
I don't remember the brand name. It was part of a system that is linked to the home's phone/communication system and can be accessed via the internet. Kinda cool considering it's a residential application.
Hey 5tank I like the way they put transfer in less noise entering as well as leaving the bedroom. I will at minium use a square elbow with a long throat lined with 1/2" sound liner. Especially on a master bedroom theres things that happen in there that you don't want your kids to hear lol.
Yeah, golf course living isn't for everyone. If I lived there I'd have to post my own sign out on the course: "I'll excuse your occasional errant golf balls if you'll excuse my dog's occasional errant turds"
It's quick and inexpensive (for your employer). Customers really like that. Then, they're less likely to complain too much about the other repair costs. It's important to 'sell' the customer on it by saying that even though it was extra work, you're not going to charge them for it. Everyone likes to think they're getting something for free.
They came from that grill at :34 and 1:02 you see there's only 4. It should have came with 8. In 2 packs of 4. There's 2 on the inside bottom and top left. Then one on the outside, top right. Wonder where the other 2 are...? Probably that other tstat, rofl.
I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out. I use coarse thread drywall screws to mount subbases. Hart and Cooley? You're definitely East Coast. Haven't seen Hart and Cooley stuff out here in Cali.

Why was there a jumper between w and y on that second stat at the 4:18 mark?

@PutSome5tankOnIt Oh I see it. I missed that they had no auxiliary heat on the w terminal. Thanks

Good method and good point. After some thought, it would've been better to just connect that bedroom return into the common duct system.

well my question is. What good is that return going to do if it is hiding behind the door.. I dont know maby its just me..
Darvin1964 2 years ago
I didn't show the entry doorway to that master bedroom very well. If you look closely, you'll see that the door can't possibly obstruct that return.

with regards to modifing that return air grill to cut back on the noise.

good trick on the undersized grille

And quick. Those 30x20 filter grilles take a little while longer to adjust all the louvers.
