  • Michael Ignatieff was pretty awful, hard to not agree with that. His worst fault was thinking he could move back to Canada, and simply be a Liberal and win. Liberals are always like that. There is a sense of entitlement, that the somehow just deserve it. Power is earned. The Liberal party has failed to earn the votes of Canadians because of their very own arrogance. They need a long time in the wilderness.

  • Fuck the NDP. They're the reason Harper is still in power. If people weren't dumb and actually voted based on POLICY rather than who the most charismatic leader is then the Liberals would have done better. Just as I thhought, the NDP "surge" was temporary

  • I'm a lib, and still think that was a dick thing to say. Honestly, it's a running joke for any anti-NDP supporters, but it's hardly debate material.

  • @Arrow370 totally, Mr. Ignatieff was a smart man but a terrible leader. Incompetent as they come. Bob Rae for PM!

  • RIP Jack

I didn't understand why people were crying at your funeral, mere strangers and all...but now I think i can see it

I honestly believe you were the best choice

Fuck Harper and his band of criminals

  • RIP Layton. When I came to Canada 10 years ago, it was a very nice country, it still is but to be honest it's much worse now.

  • We miss you Mr.Layton.

  • Jack Layton was the biggest sell out this country has ever had. He did more to help Harper get elected than Harper or the RCMP did. He was a 2 faced weasel and I for one do not miss one bit!!!!!

  • @luvdastuf

How can you even say that? Where is the logic behind your thinking?

You sound like a Southern State Republican talking about Obama and his Communistic Free Health Care plan.

  • Michael Ignatieff is the Prime minister of fail

  • @KendrickMan Liberals are still the natural governing party in 2015 we'll own everyone. Also ignatieff might have gotten angry at laytons lies but iggy still owned him

  • @peace6173 Really now, who's opposition and who's 3rd party now? Exactly, Liberals are dead start relocating to other party's you guys aren't winning elections for decades to come

  • Socialism can be too much, but would it be too much to ask for a Conservative that actually has a Social Conscience?....for once?

  • No wonder Jack stole all his seats. Iggy was a prick

  • Would of been funny after he said you'll be in opposition forever, if Jack stayed silent, everything went quiet. And Jack whisper into the microphone. Umad?

  • lol love how jack had a big smirk on his face while iggy was getting all pissy

  • i dont think it was so much the blow that jack dealt on ignatieff's attendance, but that very comment at which Ignatieff said on this clip. It was extremely immature to say something like that, Ignatieff paid for it as he stepped down to a level that any 6th grader with any grasp on our politics with a clouded point of view towards the grits would have said the same thing.

  • What if the NDP have been in power for 70 years and the liberals have never been in power? The scenario would have been different. You see Jack? Politics is a race to power, it's not just pretending your party is innocent because it has never been power, every party has its ups and downs and nobody will want a socialist government.

  • @sonic2277

"nobody wants a socialist government" .. nice

  • @sonic2277 Actually, quite a few countries that have a socialist government are doing quite well for them selves... Sure they might have high taxes but there social services are excellent.

  • Jack got the last laugh on that line.

  • RIP LITTLE JACK

  • Good. Grief.

  • LOL THE IRONY.

ahaha these debnates are great for a laugh. jack layton was always a funny guy. RIP Jack Layton.

  • i liked jack and its sad hes dead i support the ndp and green moreso but look at whos laughing in his grave jack at least e get into government hey whos in government now iggy

  • What a stupid thing to say. No Liberal government on the horizon, Mr. Ignatieff.

  • "at least we get in government, you'll be in opposition forever" wow. If for no other reason that alone should've lost them a good 25 seats.

  • Iggy can fuckin' blow me.

  • I WANT YOUTH TRIED AS ADULTS FRO THE AGE 14 ONWARDS!!! ANYONE WHO BREAKS A LAW DESERVES TO BE IN JAIL!!!

(sorry about the caps, it was to accurately express a point...a awful and incorrect point)

  • @InfiniteMomentStudio what does that have to do with this?

  • @InfiniteMomentStudio People like you should be put to sleep.

  • @PROTOCON85

    thx bro

  • 103 seats later and Iggy is enjoying a nice early retirement...

  • This Liberal arrogance finally caught up with them! the Liberals were decimated in the election and deservedly so! go back to Harvard Ignatieff, arrogant goof!

  • @kpax45 lol NDP supporters dont go to university

  • Comment removed

  • @kpax45 Liberals: let's get the smartest guy we can find to run our country, it's better to have someone who is intelligent

NDP: I feel threatened by people who are smart and intellectual. We shouldn't have a smart person running our country.

Layton was an elitist too. He went to McGill which is one of the most prestigious universities in Canada, and then got a PhD at York, and eventually taught as a professor at Ryerson. Dont be criticizing Ignatieff when Layton was practically no different.

  • I hate Ignatieff f''n goof grrr so glad he is out

  • @Scotish34

Bob Rae is a depression case!

    fuck em'

  • Clearly to Ignatieff, it's about winning, to Layton, it's about helping Canada

  • @youkeylaylee meh, i see that in Layton almost as much... and Ignatieff cared about helping Canada, if he didn't he'd be a Tory. Liberals are good people! Trust me. We care just as much as the NDP about helping Canada. The only difference is, we're realistic... lol

  • @Freethinker12341 just in this clip, you see that the "goal" of Jack Layton is to keep promises, when he turns it to Ignatieff, he abruptly switches to winning, "at least we get into government". It isn't about getting into government, but what you do after. I know libs are good people, i just feel like Ignatieff is indecisive and ultimately, ineffective.

  • @youkeylaylee lmao you're over analyzing it. you're looking for the slightest bad feeling u might get from Ignatieff. Trust me, Layton cared just as much as Ignatieff about just being prime minister. Layton cared probably more about it. He was good at making people think he was sincere. They're all a bunch of assholes, even Layton lol gimme a break..

  • @youkeylaylee you have to look BEYOND the leader when you're voting for a political party tho. You're voting for the party, not the leader. The leader doesn't mean much. I voted for the liberal party because of their political platform. I wasnt scanning each leader to try to see who had the most charisma or charm or something silly like that. Ignatieff had good, decent liberal ideas. This to me was a good enough reason to trust him. NDP policies are not always based in reality I find

  • @Freethinker12341 that's true, a party isn't always represented as the leader is depicted. but i think NDP policies are realistic and while ambitious, i think it's worth it.

  • I know people who dont see that some TV channel and radio are pro some parties...

  • jack layton is such a wuss

  • @Freethinker12341 So is your weak dead mother.

  • @zzq123k go suck jack layton's dead penis. the man was a massochist and a phony

  • @Freethinker12341 And who the fuck are you to say that? Probably some retarded, un-educated teenager who doesn't know shit about Politics.

  • @zzq123k nope

  • @zzq123k Idealism

    i·de·al·ism

    Noun/īˈdēəˌlizəm/

    1. The practice of forming or pursuing ideals, esp. unrealistically

This one word alone is everything Jack Layton stood for. It's everything the NDP stands for.

  • @zzq123k some people have this thing we call "blind faith". NDP followers have blind faith. Not exactly religious faith, but blind political faith... Overly optimistic, to the point of being out of touch with reality. Jack Layton's death is seriously the death of idealism. The guy was a nut.

  • @Freethinker12341 Kk, so when you die, I'll keep making fun of you :)

  • @zzq123k I'm not letting my emotions blind me and keep me from questioning and analyzing things. Jack was a satisfactory politician at best. Don't over romanticize a man's life just because you think its sad that he passed. It's exactly what people do with the Kennedys

  • @Freethinker12341 I didn't ask if your emotions blind you or anything? Stop typing down irrelevant shit trying to make yourself look smart. Honestly though, it's just not nice to make fun of someone who died. That's just foul and stupid. You don't know shit all you give out is random opinions - like shut the fuck up, kid. u mad?

  • @zzq123k no

  • @zzq123k I wouldn't be caught dead standing and singing my national anthem next to a left wing masochistic , NDP supporter like you. I'm ashamed to call myself Canadian with the NDP existing in opposition.

  • @Freethinker12341 OMG You're honestly so fucking dumb lol. I just said "it's not nice to make fun of someone who is dead" I never said I supported NDP. Stop making a fool of yourself, you just say bullshit like "blah blah blah". And I read your comment below "NDP Supporters dont go to university lol". Who the fuck are you mate? You sound like the biggest "know it all" piece of shit. I eat stupid noobs like you for breakfast. Stfu and stop embarrasing yourself.

  • @zzq123k this started out by u making a comment about my "dead mother". was that necessary on YOUR part? the comment i wrote about jack being a wuss i wrote before he was dead anyway so..

  • Comment removed

  • @zzq123k and yes, i am an arrogant know it all piece of shit, keep the compliments coming

  • @Freethinker12341 That's not a compliment. lolumad

  • Comment removed

  • @zzq123k alright.... alright, i learned my lesson. i apologize. i should watch what i say, especially when a nice man has just passed. despite our differing ideologies. I feel stupid and ashamed. I learned my lesson. Thanks for the beating? you got me. i must say i'm impressed..

  • @Freethinker12341 That's great now shut the fuck up before you make a fool out of yourself - oh wait you already have. Maybe you should stop and reread your comments - it's quite embarrassing on your part.

  • @zzq123k well, not that embarrassing lol...i thought i was quite brilliant at times

  • @Freethinker12341 coolstorybro.

  • this was the clip that all the lame stream media pretended didn't exist. This was the only time since the debates that I have seen this replayed and discussed. Of course the CBC was in the tank for Iggy and wouldn't dare repeat the clip or comment on it. They were too busy telling us whom to vote for.

  • Iggy says "At least WE get into government"

As if Michael Ignatieff ever spoke for the liberal party or liberal voters.

So thanks to Ignatieff, that pretentious imbecile, Canada is stuck with Stephen Harper and a conservative majority. God help us.

And I don't even believe in god.

  • But didn't Layton begin the exhange with an insult.....telling Ignatieff that he was not trustable...because of past incidents that he really didn't play a significant role in. Is that acknowledged here?? I saw bitterness on both sides there...and they were both stupid to do it. The last thing that should have happened was infighting with the NDP and Libs...as it ended up giving votes to the Cons I bet. They both should have focussed on Harper if they were to achieve anything significant...

  • Liberals don't seem to ever get that, that people are sick of their arrogance. Now that they are at 34 seats with dumbbell Bob Rae, maybe they will figure it out now.

  • Michael Igniacief suck too much. Now they are not elected because all Canadian people hate this robber.

  • So..any majority is led by a 4 year dictator. That's how our fucked up system works. What would you call King Jean Cretin who reigned for 11 years?

  • After this election, The liberals will kick Ignatieff out of the country

  • Layton got revenge later by absolutely destroying Iggy on his voting record and poor attendance.

  • GG.

  • @Sredit I agree to an extent with the art grants, yes it would slow down the cultural progression that Canada has but again you are right with the good art sells. You are completely wrong about the media being slanted, as you clearly are getting your news source from one side. Left wing has its papers and Right has theirs as well, the more people there are on a side, the more press it is going to get and by using this logic the US (I mean the conservatives) have more supporters and media focus.

  • @doomsword86 you suit my user name quite well.

  • THAT IS TOO FUCKING FUNNY

  • Anyone who votes for ignatieff isnt a Canadian. he left the country and came back for a chance to be the boss. fuck that guy. If you vote for him you are committing treason.

  • Ignatieff said “the only thing he missed about Canada

    was Algonquin Park.” Maclean’s, November 20, 2006

Some leader...Me and many of my classmates are going to give NDP a go. Even if it's not a majority, their influence should help shape parliament in the best interest of Canada.

  • the prune. I hope he'll be humbled by the NDP come May 2!

  • I don't know how you can vote Conservative. If you lean to the right, you value property most, if you lean to the left, you value the person. So what's more important: property or people? The choice, to me, is ridiculously obvious.

  • @FuddleDuddle24 People with Property ! :P

  • I found this to be hilarious. Iggy's right; Jack had no place saying "the Liberal party doesn't keep its promises" when 1) the Liberals haven't been in power for the past five years, 2) the current leadership of the party hasn't ever been in power and 3) The NDP has never been in power to understand what it's like!

  • @AlcalzFira Um..Pierre Trudeau? :/

  • Iggy spent the entire debate insulting people. Anybody can do that. It's what you call "mass-debating". I guess that must be Iggy's brilliant plan on how to bring Canada together. Just grab yer dick and shake it in everybody's face. What a joke Iggy turned out to be. Layton looked good, Harper held his own and the foreigner from Quebec had no business being there.

  • @CanadianBeaverBand well said

  • Jack Layton is the #1 reason why the conservative party won the last election the probably the #1 reason they will win a majority in this one...The NDP are ruining Canada as each vote they gain is one that was previously held by the libral party...Canadians are judging ignatief because he left the country to teach at harvard...are you kidding me??? he is hands down the smartest of all the leaders.

    its all very simple...

    Conservatives help rich

    ndp help poor

    librals help middle class.

  • @Brwnsfn21 Me an' you are probably around the same age. I was brought up to believe the very same thing. The crazy things our parents used to say. LOL

  • @Brwnsfn21 "a tide raises all boats." - john kennedy.

it is normal to allow businesses to run and compete and make more money, if someone is getting the same amount to do a harder job, obviously they'll want what is easier, also the idea of rich get richer and poor get poorer is a farce. if everyone was so poor they couldn't buy anything (much thanks to high taxes) businesses would go broke since there is no one buying their products. i am from the low class yet i understand this.

  • @CanadianBeaverBand LOLOLOLOL

  • @CanadianBeaverBand i liked it all minus Harper

  • @LucasBenge I guess the newspapers got the stories mixed up yesterday. It was Bin Laden who got the majority and it was Harper who was dumped in the Arabian Sea. Friggin' media can never get it right.

  • @CanadianBeaverBand why not? It's not fair, I am tired of being ignored by our politicians and berated by the rest of the population. The rest of Canada treats me like a prick, and French Quebekers treat me like this is not my home. Remember the last referendum, 50/50. We staunchly defended the Canada en-mass (a lot) then and since. Yeah that's us, everybody's whipping boy, the english Quebekers.

  • @ydfsn Well, I certainly feel sorry for you if you are an anglophone living in Quebec. No doubt you are treated like a second class citizen there and then guilty by association in the eyes of those canadians who see Quebec as an albatross. An American journalist being interviewed on CBC's "Q" a few months ago commented that the USA would give Canada their "Tea Party" in exchange for Quebec. This would tell me that the USA sees Quebec as being laughable. Just sayin', eh?

  • @CanadianBeaverBand I would love to see that interview, I'll try and look it up. My apologies if I may have come off as a little rude, its not you or even your comments. Truth is most of Quebekers don't want seperation, but it was not always like that. There was a time it when a man would take a beating from a crowd, he did so because he believed the rest of Canada was behind him. But the more I read the more I wonder if Canada was behind me that night after, all I had always backed them up.

  • @ydfsn Actually the interview had nothing to do with Quebec OR the Tea Party. It was mostly about US politics. The Tea Party came up in the discussion and then the American being interviewed made an off the cuff remark about trading them to Canada for Quebec. I spent quite a bit of time in Quebec in the 70's after the Separtists first got in. In places like Montreal and Quebec City, anglophones were almost treated like lepers. I do expect things have changed a little bit since then.

  • @CanadianBeaverBand Your a completely ignorant retard, fuck right off.

  • @sgtsnakeeyes11 God bless you for your limited vocabulary. I only wish you had popped by when the election was still an issue. I hope you enjoyed your Canada Day celebrations.

  • @CanadianBeaverBand

    Yup, right on!

  • Insulted? Are you kidding me. Did you see that grin on Jack's face. He was thrilled to death that Iggy is dumb enough to make a comment like that.

  • Iggy has a point. The NDP continuously makes outlandish promises they know they'd never be able to keep, and they can get away with it because the know they'll never form a government and be accountable to keep their promises.

  • I hope NDP steals a few votes from both parties in this election, just to prove to the liberals and conservatives that they should begin to clean up their policies and behavior in office because Canadians will be willing to change their party affiliations to see a change in government policy.

  • that russian is out of line - what a liberal elitist - typical

  • WOW. I hate Layton and even I think that was over the top. Iggy is a douche. Nicely handled by Layton.

  • @WootCanada Iggy accomplished a remarkable feat here - he made me feel sorry for the most charismatic guy at the debate. I loved it when he put his hand on his hip. He was like a professor lecturing a student. Harper's a dead beat and he has nothing to say, but at least he's not making personal attacks like that.

  • The problem, is this is the truth plain and simple. Canadians talk about caring, talk about leading, but have forgotten the government is supposed to work for them. The taxes are raised to support things we can all agree is needed, and further money is raised by selling our mutual resources, some of which are "renewable" and some are not "oil and gas". The Harper Conservatives believe we need to pay people to take our resources and Layton does not and the Liberals waffle in the middle. Truth

  • @arnezabell the problem is, Canadians CANNOT agree about what is needed. That is why there are multiple parties. Everyone says Canadians want this, or Canadians want that. Canadians think the government should fund the arts. Well I am a Canadian, and nobody asked me if I want the arts to be funded. Fuck the arts. They are a waste of money. government should not be in the business of supporting peoples' hobbies. I like to paint. Should the government give me money to paint? Fuck no!

  • @Sredit We're a bunch of junkies, and it just so happens the Liberals have been better crack dealers than the Conservatives over the years. Everyone thinks because you live in society, everyone should be FORCED (key word here) to buy crap for each other that nobody needs. To me, Harper seems no different, and that's probably the goal anyway.

  • @Sredit that's a weak argument sir. if people make money via arts, which they do, and if they employ other people in the process, which they do (and much more so than other subsidized industries), government must support this form of small business. i am glad nobody ask you how to allocate national funds! ignorant, misinformation and generally dumn, that means you.

  • @fagslav I don't want the government to support small business either. or large business for that matter. Any business. If the government has to pay businesses in order for them to make a profit, the businesses should not exist in the first place.

  • @fagslav Dumn? That's DUMB ......DUMB kinda says it all doesn't it?

  • @Sredit wrong, arts isn't just about painting, that's just one area of art, as a student in film right now. I would have to strongly disagree, it's not about the government giving YOU money. it's about the government cutting the budget on schools in the arts department (film, photo, and fine arts as well as computer arts). School budgets are becoming lower and lower. so let me put it this way, since you focused on your particualr area of art (painting) I will focus on mine (filmmaking)...

  • @HaxD64 the budget is getting lower and lower, and as a inhabitant of montreal, montreal filmmaking are producing worse and worse movies due to filmmaking, the latest movie i watched filmed in montreal was Beastly, which was widely announced and in theatres and there was alot of hype over this movie for nothing, it was a modern day version of disney's beauty and the beast. a montreal made movie I watched before Bestly was "The Wild Hunt" created and directed by Alexandre Franchi...

  • @HaxD64 which had no where near as much publicity as Beastly yet the emotions of the characters and the plots and the general acting was much better and was made for just over a quarter of a million dollars, and brought back a much larger percentage of revenue than Beastly ever did, I say focus on the small projects and cut back on the larger projects and the revenue percentage will be much higher.

  • @Sredit Go fuck yourself on Harper's pictures , Canada don't need people like you . Open you fucking mind

  • @NikFleury open my mind to what? your vision of a Canadian utopia where dissidents aren't allowed? where only one opinion matters? it was not the government's mandate at confederation to fund peoples' hobbies. This stupid idea only came later under the umbrella of various libtard majorities. maybe YOU should gtfo, you dumbass. Only fascists or the weak-minded reject diversity of opinion as unCanadian. Open YOUR fucking mind.

  • @Sredit sometimes it can be good to have artists too. if the person is considered a good artist you give them some support, then you take their art piece for the price pending on the value and sell it to a shop, so the government will receive money back as if the person was doing this without causing taxes and the shop makes its own money selling it off.

  • @ultradumbass my point is government isn't necessary. Da Vinci and his Renaissance peers did not have government support. They were supported by patrons who actually valued the art. If the art is good people will buy it. If it isn't good and people don't buy it, it should not be subsidized.

  • @Sredit keep in mind davinci lived in a different time. back then it was much easier to live on practically nothing, contrary to beliefs, people were in fact richer centuries ago, even 50 years ago than they are today. people look on the idea of being paid a few dollars a year in the olden days, however you could buy much more with a dollar than you can today. a big mac at mcdonald's 50 years ago could literally have been bought for 10 cents. communism worked centuries ago but wouldn't work now.

  • @ultradumbass a big mac might have cost 10 cents a long time ago, or chocalate bars 5 cents, but then ask yourself what the incomes were back then? Everything cost less because people were paid less. The people making the big mac earned less money, so the savings went to the customer. People weren;t richer back then. Our idea of what it means to be wealthy has changed. Ever see that photo with the bunch of homeless people taking pics of Mrs Obama with cell phones in the soup kitchen?

  • @Sredit You sure are hateful for a Canadian. Sad. :(

  • @HumanBornFree maybe you should re-evaluate what being a Canadian is. We don't all fit into your mold. What ever happened to respect for diversity of political opinion in this country? People on the right are constantly belittled by their leftist peers over divergent philosophical points of view. Economists Keynes and Hayek are prime examples. Leftists love Keynesian economics and view Hayek supporters as lunatics. Well the feeling is mutual, but the media is so slanted that you'd never see it.

  • @Sredit "What ever happened to respect for diversity of political opinion in this country?" I'm not the one calling people a dumbass.

  • @Sredit Nobody asked you because you're one person. Get 16 869 950 other Canadians behind you and then you can talk.

  • @21fretsalute gee thanks for proving my point. I AM one person, so please tell the politicians not to speak for all Canadians when they say that Canadians want or think this or that. Politicians love to make general statements meant to include the entire population. Were it so easy. If, as they say, Canadians are all in agreement, someone explain the diversity of party policy.

  • @Sredit

    Well said!

  • @Sredit You are a fucking idiot! Not funding the arts? The first and most common form of displaying democracy through the use of expression. There are people crying for help, change and a sense of hope through music, art, and literature. Decreasing funds in the arts is basically shutting up people's right of expression. The arts is the most articulate form of democracy and is embedded in our constitution to allow and protect the peoples rights to express themselves.

  • @Rossco9898 since when did expression require government funding? Your idea of democracy is seriously warped. When government becomes involved, patronage hinges on what state authorities find 'correct'. That's why the Nazis and Soviets found such value in supporting the arts: they found agreeable puppets to echo the sentiments of the state. Fool. I value the arts. But what is democratic about a system that discriminates against artists expressing ideas that contradict the "official" state dogma?

  • @Sredit Expression doesn't require government funding ultimately, but why should we allow a government who gives billions to corporate interests to cut social spending? It seems it's being done for ideological reasons over practical ones.

  • @rhth79 government doesn't 'give' billions to corporate interests, you fool. Nobody is writing cheques to Suncor or RIM. Tax incentives are another matter. But any fiscal conservative worth his weight would denounce any such government interference with the private sector. It is a recipe for corruption and graft, and creates bubbles like the one which spurred this recession. The US govt. encouraged banks to lend money to poor people who couldn't afford loans. Surprise! they foreclosed!

  • Probably the most honest thing he said the entire debate, but here's a guy charging Harper, some would say for good reason, with contempt for democracy, and he's telling Layton he doesn't have a chance. Could be true, but I think he's lost a lot of votes with that comment...unless the CBC ignores this exchange. I mean, they claimed there were 'no gaffs' in the debate. I'm looking at one right now. I'm not a Harper fan, but if he gets a majority, I can't wait to see the CBC privatized.

  • LOL Canada would be dumb if they didnt vote for Harper you can have our Obama We would take Harper anyday

  • @bryanguy1 No way, I would rather move to America than vote for Harper. The man is an idiot and a bigot.

  • Not voting Iggy! What an ass!
