Well Mike Nichols has directed "The Graduate", "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?", "Working Girl", "Primary Colors", and "Closer". Elaine May directed the original "Heartbreak Kid" and "Mickey and Maude".
Well,as I was born in 1960 I've never heard of this couple but they do seem rather funny. I vaguely remember "What's My Line",(British version),from my childhood & remember my parents laughing hysterically over it! How "comedy" has changed so much since those earlier, gentler days.
Stiller and Meara, Burns and Allen ... but I can't think of any male/female comedy teams that were not married to each other. Betty Comden and Adolph Green might be another pair like that if you think of their performing careers rather than their songwriting.
We should probably inform the uninformed that they have no reason to be alarmed by Mike Nichols's appearance. He is in point of fact not The Man Who Fell to Earth, but completely lacking in body hair, a result of a childhood reaction to a defective whooping-cough vaccine.
Mike Nichols and Elaine May. A top-rank comedy team that I think has never been surpassed. Search for samples of their work elsewhere on YouTube. You'll be richly rewarded.
yes- leaps ahead of their time-part of the success they enjoyed was the formidable popularity in the 50's of new LP record "Comedy" recordings- these two took their night club act into the recording studio with perfection - I appreciate they way they used the "Microphone" as they spoke very close to the mic- giving a deep intimate nature to their comedy bits when played in ones living room-
Nichols has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. And he is related to Albert Einstein who was a cousin on his mother’s side!

What a highly creative team! I loved Elaine May in a "A New Leaf" (which can be viewed on YouTube in 11 parts).

Mike directed some ofvthe best movies ever. Elaine was brilliant in a film called Enter Laughing. Two incredibly multi-talented legends. Bravo.

They are both still with us--I think Elaine is the busier of the two, but not so busy any more.
Ms. May was, and I hope still is, a consummate writer of plays and screenplays

You're welcome.

One of the best vocal disguises I remember among mystery guest. They do sound rather alike.
Eammon Andrew's cowboy reference -- the contestant before them was an ancient cowpuncher from, I think, Flagstaff Arizona. Very amusing.
