Whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved. For god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Not one mention of baptism in either scripture. Why not?
Sorry, but if that dude was trying to talk to me like that as a Baptist, I'd probably want to bop him upside the head, even if I wasn't Baptist. That's a really good way to completely turn off the Baptists and we're just laughing at you.
@bluegrassbaby86 If you would "bop" the guy in the head, I think that would be very unchristian conduct, especially if the guy is just talking to you and defeats your point completely. I agree that sometimes people get turned off easy toward what others have to say, and there is certain ways 2 go about a message, but if you truly believe the message you have is the Truth and those without it are condemned and going to hell, I would want to save them from that horrible condition any way I could.
Church of Christ is a denomination, Baptist is a denomination. All are man made, why can't people understand that? I'm in a Baptist Church but only I'm in agreement with the doctrine that is preached. The Baptist Church doesn't save me. Johnny is amazing to me. If you accept Christ as your savior you are in the Church of Christ talked about in the Bible, even if you are a Baptist. It's not hard to understand. People put way too much emphasis on denominations. It's really not important.
@Sportsfan197 I attend a "church of Christ" congregation and I couldn't agree with you more. People like this gentleman are the ones that are from a narrow minded thought. Even one of our elders said that "at some point between 33 A.D. and the mid 1800's (when Barton Stone and Alexander Campbell started or in this man's case "restored" the church of Christ") there were people going to heaven.
@LynardJ this makes me sad that someone who attends a church of Christ would say we're a denomination. There is plenty of evidence that the church of Christ was in America way before Alexander Campbell came into the scene, plus Biblical evidence of the church of Christ being a acceptable name to use to define the body. Restoration is a generational thing, why a preacher would point out Campbell as special is beyond me.
@Sportsfan197 Jesus certainly established a church, He said so. Jesus also said the gates of hell should not prevail against it, which I think means it will be a Kingdom that will be around till He comes back...so how is that possible if all churches are man made?
