  • Great video,Thank You. Nice choice in music also!

  • @TangoTracker223 Thank you! It's hard to beat Jim Reeves!

  • Can I ask how much the wind screen/stand run you? I made a similar stove out of a round Altoids Sour's tin but I have yet to test it because I am kinda clueless on what type of fuel to use. I have seen one's with pink insulation and denatured alcohol or HEET. I just don't know what would be the best or easiest to carry in my pack.

  • It was soooooooooo long ago, maybe 10 years ago or so? but Im thinking that I paid around $3 or something way back then.

I have used HEET, and I have used SLX denatured alcohol. SLX has worked very well for me.

Denatured alcohol is listed as having somewhat highter BTU's. If you choose HEET, people say to get the yellow bottle only.

With either fuel, I have to pour it into smaller bottles for carry. I just make sure to mark the bottle with "FUEL" written with a Sharpie pen.

  • Thnx for the speedy response. So do you use the pink insulation or just the fuel alone? I recently bought a canteen with cup a few weeks ago and I need to get a stand. Good vid man keep it up.

  • In this stove, there is no insulation. Should you choose to experiment and use insulation, please post a video of it. I am interested in how that would work.

  • so nice to see a new flame pattern. nifty stuff

  • Thank you, this was an interesting experiment.

  • I'd be for using a container with the slide OFF lid.

  • For a stove? or for a pot?

    Bill

  • burner

  • Yes, we have a video of us making that.

    Bill

  • hey, cool stove i made one simaler to that and it works great. just wondering where you got the stand for the canteen cup.

  • I picked the stand up at my local Army Surplus store. I would think they are readily available in your area too.

    Bill

  • How would it be to put some fiberglass insulation or some tiki wick 2 side by side

  • We experimented with wick material inside, but, for better or worse, flames came out from under the lip of the lid, not the slot, which wasnt what we intended.

  • love the music very soothing

  • Thank you

  • I only seen this video once but i listen to the music now 4 or 5 times a hour makes you feel like you are outside sitting by the fire me and the wife done it many times.

  • Jim Reeves is great!

  • I like very inventive. I watched this and wondered how it might work with slits cut the other direction. Going to have to try it myself. Good video!

  • I would be interested in seeing that!

    Bill

  • Cool vid Mr Bill

  • Thank you!

  • I like the concept, especially for a canteen set up. I will have to do some experimentation and get back to you. Maybe some drilled holes instead of the slit... Peace guys.

  • The main problem is the canteen cup set up itself. Unfortunately it is stainless steel instead of aluminum, and doesnt conduct heat very well.

    Bill

  • How much fuel did you use?

  • I filled it to the hinges, but not sure how much that measured out to be.
